They revived Jerry's grandmother Maude Pletcher's original recipe and "the family tradition of selling fried pies." There are currently numerous locations across Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and now Hobbs, NM. The Hobbs location is inside the brand new Swift Stop convenience store on the Lovington Highway. They have their on counter and glass cases on the north end of the building. These aren't pies in a tin pan. They're hand pies. So you can definitely eat them on the go. While I did not see any savory pies, they offer multiple flavors in the cream or sweet variety. They also have "no sugar added" options. And because the employees were no present when we were at the counter, we headed to the freezer section on the south end of the building. I opted for blackberry. My oldest daughter chose blueberry. My youngest gravitated towards vanilla. These are usually $3.99 fresh out of the oven or kept warm under the display, but I think because we got ours from the freezer they were $2 each. These beautifully prepared hand pies were perfectly cooked. Not greasy at all. For frozen pies, just stick them in the fridge the night before reheating. Cream pies won't go in the oven of course, but you could room temperature thaw them. I didn't do try that this time because pies tend to get soggy that way. For fruit pies, reheat them for 25-35 minutes at 350°F. My oven usually cooks everything too fast. Mine was ready at about 22 minutes. I can't wait to try pineapple pie next!
