Suffice it to say that unfortunately we hired an absolutely atrocious fencing company who shall not be named (Dan Dale Fence) which led to our job taking almost a year to complete as designed. Fortunately our neighbours found King and Queen construction who not only completed their job but installed an adjoining gate for our four legged friends to enjoy each others company. Furthermore, King and Queen came back and fixed all the mistakes the aforementioned company had made for almost no cost and came back today to rehang that adjoining gate because our four legged friends on both sides of the fence have no manners. If you are in the Tidewater area and in need of either fencing or deck work I implore you to look no further than King and Queen construction.

Talked with Mr. Mike McAlea and was able to schedule an appointment in one days time. Mike arrived right on time, listened to what I wanted, measured everything, and got a quote to me within one days time. I needed a little time to digest the info and he did not "bug" me about it. When I called to start project, they immediately got busy scheduling, reinspecting, calling city, etc.. Project started in one week and was completed in one day! The panels aren't staying together, there are several gaps, the gates sag so bad they're pulling panels out of the posts and can't be opened easily without lifting the entire gate. Accordong to my neighbor this fence wasn't installed correctly at all. Contacted this dude to come out and fix it, and got the run around, once again. Always has excuses and is either the most unhealthy dude on the planet, as hes always sick, and has the worst memory or he's just completely unprofessional, which is where I am tending to lean. Oh yeah, and the wheels... he could have told me 6 months ago he wasn't going to do it, I could have fixed the issue myself. Jim and his team of excellent guys came out and took down our old 20 year fence and replaced it with a beautiful cedar fence. They showed up on time, cleaned up everything when they were finished and the workmanship is beautiful. Becca also does a lot of the behind the scenes work, like writing up the work orders, estimates, etc. and helps keep things on track. There needs to be a ZERO stars option for this THIEF!!!! I directly paid him $19K during the end…read moreof November and beginning of December 2024 (materials and 50% up-front for labor). He never completed the work, kept making excuses, and pushed the start date back nearly every week. He initially stated he was going to start the week after Thanksgiving. He came out to walk the property nearly a month after being paid and didn't bring the pin-finder he promised he had, nor did he even have enough stakes to mark the corners. He totalled his truck in January of 2025 while driving drunk (public record) and was in the hospital for a while recovering, so I was willing to delay the start until he was better. I even offered additional assistance to his family during his hospitalization to make sure they were taken care of. He called once he was released and said they had a job lined up that weekend and would start on mine the next week (nearly 7 weeks after the initially agreed-upon date). But, surprise, they NEVER confirmed an exact date or even attempted to show up. Texts, calls, and FB messages continued to be ignored for nearly the next 2 months. I offered multiple compromises to him, but he refused. The local Sheriff's department confirmed that he had vacated the residence associated with his address, so it took me a while to actually locate him. I filed criminal charges against him once he was located, but the charge required that the DA prove "intent to defraud" on the date we signed the contract, which is nearly impossible. Because intent wasn't proven, even though theft was evident, he was found not guilty. I was told that I could file in civil court and there was more than enough evidence to win the case by a landslide, but because our state is a non-garnishment state, I would never see a dime and would just lose more money hiring a lawyer. After initially filing charges, I was contacted by 7 other individuals who stated he did something similar to them, paid for work, and never completed. It's now December of 2025, and he still has all of my money, and nothing has ever been done...not even a single hole has ever been dug for a post. I love promoting local businesses and supporting them, but I will not tolerate individuals who defraud our community. I'm only posting this because I want to make everyone aware of this crook. I only wish someone had done the same before I hired him...it would have saved me $19K. Stay clear of this guy and his company at all costs!

He is not a person I would work with again. poor and lazy work. lacks communication and isn't loyal to their word/contract. hopefully people will do their research and choose a better company so they don't fall into the same mistakes many others have with this company!
