For my friend, the stylist suggested she needed a trim to better hold a curl. For me, I was told my ends were dead - even though I got my hair cut by my regular stylist 3 weeks ago. We both said no, and they kept insisting and ultimately shaming us until we agreed. My stylist cut my hair 4 inches. I was in shock. After all that, they didn't even pin us like we asked. It's clear to me they both wanted to upsell us and wouldn't let it go when we initially declined. I'm extremely disappointed and would not recommend.

I called a few places prior to trying Luminous and they charge you for a cut and a blow out is additional! I'm sorry but I think it's ridiculous to charge for a blow out after someone is already paying for a service. But anyway!!! Not the case at luminous, my cut and blow was included with my cut and I found that business practice to be extremely fair! Although I knew that only one of the stylists was particularly well-known on Instagram, I was assured that everyone there was experienced and that I would be in good hands. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing, especially considering the price. I was asked to arrive on time, which I completely understand, but I did have to wait a little after arriving. That wasn't a big deal at all. What bothered me more was that my stylist didn't look at any of the inspirational pics I had saved to show her. Instead, as I was describing what I wanted, I was told that the style I wanted was something they do "all day, every day," which made me feel confident that I was in good hands, so I didn't press on it too much. Unfortunately, the final result looked very different from what I had asked for. I completely understand that everyone's hair is different and that a particular style may not turn out exactly the same on every person. However, the photos I had (which she didn't look at) were of hair that was quite similar to mine, so I expected at least a closer interpretation of the look I was going for. I left feeling like my vision wasn't really heard or taken into consideration. When I asked about the price beforehand, I was told it would be $100 and up. I was surprised because I have never paid that much for a wash, cut, and blowout, but I was willing to pay it for a good experience and a result I loved. The final price, however, was $150. Apparently the stylist on IG starts at $150 and "up". The price itself wouldn't have bothered me nearly as much if I had walked out feeling happy with my hair. Unfortunately, I didn't. For $150, I expected a much higher level of service, attention to what I requested, and, most importantly, a result that reflected the style I came in asking for. I don't like leaving negative reviews, and I understand that things don't always turn out perfectly. But I feel this salon is significantly overpriced for the service I received. I have NEVER paid $150 for a wash, cut, and blowout, and based on my experience, I unfortunately don't feel the service justified the cost and I don't think I will return.
