Pork Roll Egg & Cheese on Egg Bagel
    Tim B.

I've been stopping by E Street Bagels for a long time. While it's true the service and food has vacillated widely, the past few weeks have been very good. They may have new owners or just a staff that seems to care. I usually get a pork roll egg & cheese. The bagel is on the smaller side but it's comparable to many shops in the area. The woman running the show is kind, greeting from the door, she repeats your order and thanks you. It's almost surprising these days to have someone not just mouth platitudes. My food was ready in about 3 minutes and I was on my way happy as can be. Give them another try, or don't be scared off by bad reviews; I've enjoyed the experience lately and think you will too.

I'm a big fan of this place. Great breakfast sandwiches; great deli sandwiches; and the bagels are above average. Good bagel assortment. Very nice staff, friendly and efficient. Decent coffee (arabica). Large assortment of cold drinks. ATM machine; credit cards accepted. Small place with a 6 seat table and 5 seat counter. I highly recommend leaving extra time during busy hours (weekend mornings for sure).

Pork roll (lack of), egg and cheese

We paid over $6 for a sandwich with the shit end of the pork roll, not even an entire piece to cover the whole sandwich, little bits of the shit end of the roll. Bagel was also wrong and it's stale. This was always our go-to but we are really super disappointed. You cannot charge $6 for a sandwich with little bits of the shit end of the pork roll.

Bagel and Lox with pickle and macaroni salad plate. hits the spot!

I had a craving for A bagel and lox and of course I had to have the side of pickle and macaroni salad to boot! E Street bagels is not only a fun man but also a bagel place that has a lot of care and real mom and Pop feel their food. Everything is extremely fresh, as can be witnessed by the stream of people who come in on the weekend mornings. The sandwiches are extremely reasonable. Most people seem to get the pork roll egg and cheese, ham egg and cheese or egg sandwiches. In my case the salmon lox was reasonably priced at $7.50 and a large coffee with refills off for about nine dollars. Most people seem to pick up at this location. In my case I did bring an iPad to puruse as I spend a lazy Sunday morning. I do enjoy comfortable sitting furniture and I have to say that the decor is basically a standard deli. However this is the struggle I have usually most breakfast places being not a coffee shop design but rather a pick up and go type of establishment. So overall I posted the picture of the bagel and lox which was excellent and a worthwhile Sunday outing!

Chicken salad on whole wheat bagel. Featuring pickle slice and pasta salad :)

I really wanted to give this place 4 stars based on prior reviews, which was the main reason I decided to check it out. Maybe it was because I walked in sometime between 1-2pm on a Tuesday afternoon, but I was not particularly impressed with the food or service. Since I had heard the bagel sandwiches were good, I opted for a chicken salad on whole wheat bagel w/lettuce and tomato. The girl behind the counter who took my order seemed like she'd rather be anywhere else but there - the young man who rang up my order, however, was polite and pleasant. The chicken salad was decent, the bagel not so fresh. When I walked in, they were in the middle of sweeping the floor so all the chairs had been propped upside down on the counters. Not the most inviting to stay, so I opted to take mine to go. Based on what others have highlighted, I would go back for breakfast but would not rush back for lunch.

One egg, one piece of cheese and one piece of bacon broken in pieces RIPOFF

NO! Honestly it looked dirty and a little sketchy but Meemaws was packed and we were starving so we just figured we'd grab some breakfast sandwiches..what a rip off first of all she overcharged us and when we questioned her we got an eye roll but she admitted that she overcharged us and gave us 450 back she acted as if it was our fault. My egg sandwich had one Fried egg, one piece of cheese and one piece of bacon broken into pieces and it cost $5.35 a bottle of water is $3.50, coffee was cold..ugh don't waste your money!

Really great bagel and service for E Street! After spending Summers in Belmar I finally ventured out to give it a try and was blown away by how fresh and friendly everything was. Have your choice between bagels and spreads or opt for something off of their menu. I walked in with a large order of 5 breakfast sandwiches and other goodies and was in and out within 7 minutes. The organization they have with getting the orders done makes for the service to have a smooth rhythm to it. The bagel I ordered wasn't overly toasted (I hate when that happens). It was fresh and eaten quickly. E Street is the local bagel spot for a great reason and should be your bagel spot even if just coming down for a beach day.

10$ for a thin a** bagel sandwich with ONE egg, get out of here. This is to help you step up and be fair to your customers. Rip off.

For sides, I ordered their Classic Poutine, but hubby truly was curious about their Meat Poutine. Can't say "No" to him, so we ordered both and skipped the Reuben. The Classic Montreal Pastrami sandwich was very generously stacked with tender and lean meat, so I was glad I forgoed the Ruben. It fed us very well, as we did have two poutines with our order. The meat poutine was delicious, but too reminiscent of our sandwich. The standout for me, between the two poutines, was their Classic Poutine. Picture this: Every forkful delivers hand-cut fries, gooey cheese curd, and savory gravy all together in one glorious mouthwatering experience. Pair this with beer, and you are in Nirvana. We no longer have to cross the border to go to our wonderful neighbor, Montreal, Canada, for delicious sandwiches and poutine. Finding street parking was relatively easy. If you want to eat your food right away, they have counter seating.

I loved the classic smoked meat sandwich but the pastrami cheesesteak with onions and Cooper sharp was surprisingly good too. What sold me on going here was this: "We take a beef brisket, dry cure it with 12 different spices for 21 days, smoked over oak wood for 8 hours, steamed for 3 hours, & finally hand slice to order." Smoked meat and poutine is a big deal in Montreal and rare to find in the US and that alone makes Bakes extra special in my book.

We were disappointed we did not get center cut fillet mignons. If you purchase fillets at Drew's ask to make sure they are center cut or they won't be worth the $67 price point. Nice place and seemed like people but 1 star for not giving us center cut. Drew's was not trustworthy in looking out for the consumer experience. These were for a birthday dinner so very disappointing. Have you ever wondered why a steak can sometimes be cut with a fork, requiring almost no effort to enjoy, while others demand a bit of a workout for your jaw? The secret often lies in a specific section of the beef tenderloin known as the center cut. When you sit down at a high-end steakhouse or prepare a luxury meal at home, the term "filet mignon" is frequently used, but the "center cut" is the true gold standard within that category. It is the portion of the meat that professional chefs prize above all others for its symmetry, its lean profile, and its legendary, buttery texture. Anything pieced together with a string is not center cut.
