The prices are slightly more than Asda or Aldi but better in some respects than Sainsburys or other supermarkets. Food is fresh and a longer sell by date than those equivalent meat, fish or fruit and veg perishable goods at ASDA. In terms of overall experience, this is best for special occasion shopping such As Christmas, Parties, or large varied non normal shops as well as regular shopping. Morrisons offers brilliant value for money to my mind and the quality and range isn't bad either. Their fresh fish counter is the best of any of the local supermarkets - check it out. The fish always looks super fresh. I also love their pie counter - well I'm a northern lass, of course I love the pie counter! And the instore bread is always good. They do a fine range of deals and I always manage to pick something up on BOGOF And the cafe is great. Waits for tables and food can be long but that's because, for the price, it's worth hanging around.

Humiliated by Scottish security guard at Asda Lancaster !!!…read more Had a very unpleasant experience at Asda Lancaster 13/9/25 at 14.30. My partner's card payment at the self-checkout didn't go through because of a system glitch, but we thought it had as there was no alarm and no barrier stopping us. As soon as we were told, we went back in and paid the £44 immediately. Instead of handling it calmly, the Scottish security guard stopped us outside in front of everyone, speaking harshly and making us feel like criminals. It was humiliating and completely unnecessary, especially since we had already resolved the issue. For context: I work at an accounting firm and my partner is an NHS hospital audiologist -- we certainly don't need £44 of Asda shopping, and in five years of coming here we've never had a problem. Asda should train their staff to treat customers with respect, not embarrassment.

I disagree with a previous Qyper, the store is very convenient for students as you can hop off the bus at the bus station and walk a direct line of sight straight to Sainsburys. And then get a bus back to (virtually) right outside your doorstep. With the recent in-store re-work of shelving, new non-food aisles have been introduced in-line with what other supermarkets are offering nowadays. A future minor extension to the store will also increase the range of goods sold and allow for greater mobility throughout the store. The checkout staff are helpful and welcoming every visit, and the shelves never seem to really suffer from poor stock control. The Deli, Meats and Seafood counters are all staffed by well trained and lovely people who try to offer you value, local produce and tasty goods.
