I disagree with a previous Qyper, the store is very convenient for students as you can hop off the bus at the bus station and walk a direct line of sight straight to Sainsburys. And then get a bus back to (virtually) right outside your doorstep. With the recent in-store re-work of shelving, new non-food aisles have been introduced in-line with what other supermarkets are offering nowadays. A future minor extension to the store will also increase the range of goods sold and allow for greater mobility throughout the store. The checkout staff are helpful and welcoming every visit, and the shelves never seem to really suffer from poor stock control. The Deli, Meats and Seafood counters are all staffed by well trained and lovely people who try to offer you value, local produce and tasty goods.

I didn't quite understand and then one day, I saw it. Just a few yards from my dorm room. It is like a liquor, supermarket and wal-mart all condensed into a compact corner convenient store. The only thing was that they couldn't quite understand me when I asked for 'aluminum foil' because you have to say 'aluminium.' When I would run out of vodka, luncheon meat, gravy granules, tea and crumpets, frozen pizzas for 99 pence, or even fried chicken to get me through the cold, grueling days of studying, this Spar came to the rescue, everytime. I only have fond memories of this lifesaver. Oh yea, and they have instant ramen and siracha sauce too! What a relief!

This often means that I walk from the other end of campus just to get a particular brand or item that I can't buy in the nearer LUSU shop (aka Central Stores). Humiliated by Scottish security guard at Asda Lancaster !!!…read more Had a very unpleasant experience at Asda Lancaster 13/9/25 at 14.30. My partner's card payment at the self-checkout didn't go through because of a system glitch, but we thought it had as there was no alarm and no barrier stopping us. As soon as we were told, we went back in and paid the £44 immediately. Instead of handling it calmly, the Scottish security guard stopped us outside in front of everyone, speaking harshly and making us feel like criminals. It was humiliating and completely unnecessary, especially since we had already resolved the issue. For context: I work at an accounting firm and my partner is an NHS hospital audiologist -- we certainly don't need £44 of Asda shopping, and in five years of coming here we've never had a problem. Asda should train their staff to treat customers with respect, not embarrassment.

This market is a good value to utilize Lancaster's fabulous nature and fertility converted into fresh and healthy food. Do you know that there are three local ice cream producing farms only in Lancaster. You don't need to be a gourmet to taste the amazing difference in their ice cream. Tomatoes from different places of Britain (my favourite is Blackpool's) are provided freshly on the shelves opposite to lancashire grown salads in fruits & vegetables section. All common brands and products are also provided, but the prices are slightly higher than Sainsbury's but close to Spar. In my opinion, the only missing part is a bakery inside. The only issue is that finding fresh bread and other bakery not possible though ready-made warburton et al. exist.
