A typical large Tesco store, where you go in through a sheltered car-park and then up a high gradient walkway into the main store, there is also a lift if you prefer which is right by the Costa Coffee location which is inside the store. The store could do with some TLC from some areas to match the modern, large, grand exterior with the slightly outdated interior. The selection in most areas was pretty good, they had a great selection of branded ready meals and soups but this came at the expense of their Tesco Finest selection, which I actually prefer. While they had a fantastic selection of booze, I do find their to-go food range was a little disappointing, most other areas were average/good. Scan as You Shop Facilities are offered by this store, like most big supermarkets now, they also have the newer, more modern scanners (only in a selected number of stores) which I find are cooler and easier to use, making your shopping experience much quicker. The staff are friendly too. 4* - My favourite out of the supermarkets in Burnley town centre, not a bad Tesco location for sure.

So if you are looking to do a full shop, forget it). I'm still getting used to the grocery superstore milieu in the UK, but thus far I'm firmly in the Tesco camp. They have better deals, a better selection (well, the bigger ones like the Burnley location does anyway), and a healthy book aisle. Truly one stop shopping, Tesco is a discovery waiting to happen. One criticism of this location in particular is that they keep moving things-- it may not seem like a huge deal, but when you're used to finding your, oh, minced turkey in one place and then all of the sudden it's not there anymore, it's a little off-putting. Also, they stop carrying things every so often. Not just run out of it-- just completely stop selling it, without warning or notification. Like Method hand soap and Tom's toothpaste. Who's with me to join the campaign for consistent products at Tesco? (Or at least to get them to keep carrying the stuff they used to sell?). In any case-- yay, Tesco!

The staff in the store seemed friendly, they had a good selection of product in the store, I was disappointed with some items just being thrown on the shelves as well as the lack of brands, many items even the fruit and vegetables and dairy, didn't seem that much cheaper than other supermarkets, and in some cases, it was a little more expensive, so I don't really get the hype in terms of the low pricing. The tills were a bit of a mess too, they only had one till working even when it was getting busy, and it did take some time for them to open another till... only for them to shut it again after serving just three people? No self-scanning checkouts, as far as I'm aware, Aldi are the only British supermarket not to offer this. The store wasn't too bad, I managed to get what I needed, but it was only one item which they didn't sell at ASDA nearby. The car park is small but easy to get in and out of as a pedestrian. 3*

The car park is pretty large with a good exclusive area for Sainsbury's customers, although it could be lit much better especially with the winter nights drawing in. The store is modern in most areas, and well organised and the selection overall is pretty good, there is a small Cafe area, but this didn't seem to be open right now, probably due to COVID reasons (I think only Morrisons has kept their cafe open for takeaway in terms of the major supermarkets). I couldn't find what I was looking for, as they were of stock of the Pots and Co desserts I liked and the plate/home section, while still good, had slightly less choice than other stores. Smartshop to scan items as you go around the store is handy, with handheld devices and bags at the front of the store, otherwise, you can use your phone if you have their app, which I prefer. 4* - Pretty good Sainsbury's store, not my favourite supermarket in Burnley, but it's still a pretty good location.

They have the typical Iceland range including TGI Fridays and Greggs and other frozen foods, but they also go beyond that with a good fridge section including good deals on cooked meats, cheese and milk. They probably had the most offers and best value for money compared to the other food retailers around Burnley town centre. It was a little annoying that the deals they were advertising outside the store on an electronic board, some of which they seemed to have low stock or not stock at all, it felt like they were getting people in the store under false pretences. 4* - Good store, pretty modern/nice feel, a decent selection of products, most of which were a good size, the selection still doesn't compare to larger supermarkets nearby but well worth a look in while in town.

I don't really understand the need for this branch as they do have a large and modern store elsewhere in Burnley town centre, which is inside Charterwalk, this branch is OK, but it isn't as good as the Charterwalk location. The product range was OK, again it was reduced compared to the nearby store, I was a little annoyed to see moveable stands in the middle of the aisles, which made them narrower to go down, one of these included a Starbucks milk-based coffee beverage... this confused me as they weren't in the fridge, being a dairy product, I always feel uneasy to find them not in the fridge, granted they did have a separate section in the fridge, but the big bulk of them was out in the open, and I didn't like this. 3* - Decent store, the only advantage over the other Iceland location nearby is you can park right outside, which can make it easier, the fact it is located next to a large supermarket means you can go in-between the stores to do your grocery shopping and save some money, without having to go on a short walk/drive elsewhere in Burnley, which is also good. I do think they should ensure that products which should be refrigerated are, however, rather than putting half their stock in the fridge, and half in any old random location.

This is a nice Tesco store, although it is small, especially for a "Tesco Superstore", the store…read morestill looks and feels new as it was refurbished towards the end of 2019, after being converted from a Jack's store (Tesco's failed attempt to create a budget supermarket brand to compete with Aldi and Lidl). It is located in the Rossendale town of Rawtenstall on Bocholt Way. They have the handheld Scan as You Shop Scanners here which was a pleasant surprise, most Tesco stores have them now but it never said they did online, so I presume they are a new addition. I like how this store is located with views of the river, this does mean the only way to access it as a pedestrian is via a very small and narrow bridge, this could be a nightmare to cross in the dark as it isn't very well lit, it could also be a problem if you need extra space to cross. I did find the whole of Rawtenstall to be pretty poor for pedestrian access anyway. The product ranges is OK, I couldn't find what I was looking for, but most items you'd expect to find here were on offer in some shape or form, which is of course supported by many other supermarkets also within Rawtenstall town centre including Iceland, Marks and Spencer, Aldi, Lidl and ASDA, the latter is the only store bigger than this one, as many of them are pretty small. 3* - I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come here again, but it isn't too bad.
