The Plaza Theatre in Garland is an art deco structure that has housed movies, and art events since…read more1941. It seats approximately 350 people, but it feels tight when even close to capacity because what is not updated/modernized are the chairs. Overall it is a decent venue and has good acoustics etc. what I was really disappointed in on my recent visit was that they added seats that sit up higher than the others on the first row, that obstructed the views of those of us on the second row. Also, there is not a traditional concession stand, as that part apparently was done away with in the remodel.

This even was a case from California about an autonomous vehicle killing a cyclist. They put the CEO on trial for engineering the software for the vehicle and taking short cuts. This was a very fun date night and something different. We met some cool couples along the night and of course my partner bonded over parts of the case with them. This place is very clean and the bathrooms are nice and clean. There is a lot of parking throughout the little city of Garland. We did end the night across at a local watering hole and close it down with some good folks. If on Fever and see this as an option go ahead and choose it because it was a blast!

An outsider from the area might not be aware that the City of Garland has an Arts center in its…read moreold downtown. There are musicals and plays put on in this beautiful theater! However, I was here for a more somber score. I was here with a few hundred to learn of the latest trends in Storm Spotting and weather RADAR analysis put on by local amateur radio clubs, the City of Garland and the Ft Worth Office of the National Weather Service. Some in my group would argue that severe weather systems are works of art as in their violence can be awe inspiring sights which are sometimes captured by camera. Of course there are also many photos of destruction after really bad storms. The center has clean restrooms, space for vendors to set up tables in the lobby and room for food trucks outside. The seating is very comfortable and was able to keep me happy for the full day of information presented to help keep our communities and us spotters safe.

Being from Tampa my visit was to attend a graduation ceremony scheduled for here. From the outside…read morethe building is rather nondescript: low, with some parking, wide sidewalks with covered overhangs. The lobby is light and inviting. Proceeding to the auditorium the blue green carpet and light wood paneling has a modest elegance. The auditorium itself has a good size stage and very comfortable seats with enough room between rows that even tall folks won't bump their knees if they shift a bit while seated. It was challenging was for elderly (and others in heels) to walk down steep sloping side aisles. Lack of a center aisle made for very long rows with many folks having to pass over you unless you were seated in the middle. The acoustics and sound system were good. I enjoyed seeing posters from several productions, as well as at least a dozen beautiful hand made quilts, adorning the corridors. While parking adjacent to the building is decent, it didn't seem large enough for the size of the auditorium; however on the way out I noticed the rail stopping at one end of the parking lot. It turns out that the Garland Arts Center is a stop on both red and blue lines, as well as it being a stop for several bus routes.

He really surpassed our expectations and now we feel pretty good about our first dance. Throughout the past few weeks, he helped break down some of the dance moves for us in a way that any beginner could pick up. Barry really knows what he's talking about. I don't think either of us could have imagined how bad we were...banging knees and stepping on each other's feet. It was a mad dash to get some instruction so we did not embarrass ourselves. We set an appointment with Barry, who responded very quickly to my communication. In preparation for our lesson with Barry, we went to a group dance class to learn some basics (proper stance, etc.) so that we could maximize our hour with Barry (who ended up staying a little later to make sure we were fully prepared). He has a great personality and you can tell he really loves what he does. He was so helpful! He choreographed our dance for us and even taught us a few shortcuts and tips to ensure that we would be able to "perform" at our wedding. Our first dance was successful thanks to him!
