They never finished the job! They agreed to cut the wood into manageable pieces but left huge (15+ feet) sections uncut and many of the cuts they did make were not all the way through the trunk. They left trash and bottles in the yard and broke our neighbor's fence and did not fix it. We had a hard time getting in touch with them about the problems, but we did get Eddie to agree on two separate occasions to come and finish the job and repair the fence. He did not show up either time nor did he ever call. We ended up hiring someone else to fix our neighbor's fence and cut the wood into movable pieces. I will not hire them again. read more

Left me with Two Stumps, they said they'd come back after fence was removed to grind them down with a smaller grinder. I've called & left 3 messages but NO return call. They did a fine job cutting down the trees, took 4 hours start to finish as the trees were not very big, nor the stumps. Would have gave a five star except I feel I was bamboozled as far as the stumps are concerned. I even told him I pay his buddy with the smaller grinder extra, he mentioned $60-$70.00 to get him here. I bought a new house and needed to have some trees taken down and overgrown bushes pulled to put up a fence. My other trees also were in major need of trimming. Called a bunch of places - some called back days later and some never called back. E&J promptly called me back and got out really quickly for a quote. The next day they took everything out and then returned the following day and ground out all of the stumps. Ready for the fence, everything cleaned up/hauled away and a good price too. Short answer, save your money and go elsewhere, the minor savings, if any, are not worth the long time hassle and insults. E&J was contracted to take down two large trees on an adjacent vacant lot. By large, 38" in dia and larger. Dearborn requires permits for mature tree removal. When asked to produce a permit, E&J initially refused, with foul language, racial slurs and threats, and started operations. The police were called. The police examined the digital IPhone permit, deemed it inadequate, and ordered them to stop operations and leave. They left, but came back later with different police, who decided that the 'digital' permit may be a fake, but may not be a fake. Only the city could determine if there was an actual permit in existence. Being a Saturday, the city offices were closed. The police said we can't say it's fake, or not fake, so iron out the permit issues on Monday. Meanwhile, unlike the first officers, "we deem the permit good enough to proceed". They did. That's a little late for the massive trees in question. Remember, this is a vacant lot. Safety was a joke, the lot has stumps remaining, and parts of logs still lying about. Complaints have been filed with the police. Bottom line, shoddy work, unsafe, and unprofessional with conversational skills. Not that it matters, but black beard was a chain smoker to boot......I would use my pen knife first for a tree trimming or removal job before calling these clowns. read more

The owner and employees of E & J Tree Service are extremely rude and inconsiderate. They started removing trees for a neighbor at 7:30am on a Saturday morning waking the neighborhood up. When another neighbor and I approached them about the disturbance, the attitude was that they were not concerned with the rest of the neighborhood. When I tried to tell the owner it was inconsiderate, he informed me that they start at 7am and when I said I would never hire him, his response was "good." No apologies for the disturbance, no trying to explain why they start so early, just extremely rude. Do not hire this company. read more

This so called "tree service" is extremely unprofessional. They took down several trees in our neighborhood a few weeks ago, and were so horribly unprofessional. They were using insulting language when it was absolutely not necessary. They just cut limbs off and let them hit other trees as they plummeted to the ground, causing severe damage to other trees in the yard. Bottom line is, if you don't care about your trees and don't mind getting bullied around, this service is perfect for you. read more
