Great service when we really needed it! We broke down in Westport, CA on a Friday afternoon and had to get the car towed into Fort Bragg. Eric at E&B Auto ordered the parts right away and made our repair a priority so we could get back on the road. We ended up staying an extra night at a hotel, but he rushed the job and had our brakes replaced and the car ready by Monday morning. Really appreciated Eric going the extra mile to help us out when we were in a tough spot. It's hard to find reliable mechanics, especially when you're stranded away from home. Stars at E & B Auto Repair For over 40 years (!), Mike Margulis has been a fixture in Ft. Bragg CA for honest, personable, competent auto service. Just this week, as we are locals, Mike and Eric did an excellent 3K service on our '05 Toyota Sienna. But just two days ago, our barely two year old hybrid Highlander mysteriously wouldn't start after having visited the eye doctor, barking out weird error messages about the "brakes not getting enough power" (strange since the car was off). With remarkable luck, we were two blocks from E & B, trotted over and within two minutes Eric joined us to repair the mysteriously comatose (otherwise terrific) car. Within 15 minutes Eric had figured out the ONLY problem was my wife had slightly discharged the battery, using the accessory option to make a 15 minute phone call. Who knew the 12V capacity was not robust against a robust "accessory" discharge? Turns out the brakes were fine and this was simply the default message whenever the 12V can't power the complex electronics. I have written to Toyota and complained their software should be fixed, simply identifying a low battery, which I could have repaired myself with my lithium backup. In any case, the timing fit perfectly, Eric was between jobs and he could not have been more efficient or clearly focused, even though new Highlanders were not a daily challenge. But he quickly understood the big picture. The result: the non-problem was fixed and we charged the battery on the way home - disaster averted (except for the reasonable minimum cost. And I have requested Toyota should reimburse, per Mike's good suggestion). All in all, hats off to E & B - for top service, perfectly timed delivery, and of course their permanent good cheer and friendliness. Thanks, guys, for saving us because our supposedly brilliant new car (and it is) couldn't simply inform us our battery had been slightly drained and needed recharge. RBecker read more

Curtis was manning the front desk and he is as nice and competent as can be. They finished my very comprehensive SUV service in about an hour and showed my my old air filter that they changed, because that was optional for me. And, they are totally green and carbon neutral! Mike was great! I drove up from Pt. Arena and my Suburbans fan belt wasn't shutting off promptly. They squeezed me in and ran diagnostics. Did a quick fix to the electrical free of charge! Echoing all the other reviews, these guys are nice, competent, and very reasonably priced. Driving up to visit friends, my car developed a horrible wheel noise. Friends had a worrisome tentative diagnosis. E&B did their own diagnosis and found the issue to be something quite simple, quickly fixed, and ready the same day. Not being handy with cars, I was panicking when our SUV had issues starting up the past 2 mornings and us being from out of town. I called E&B and they said they could fit me in if I came right over. Breaking down on the North Coast shouldn't be such a wonderful experience. But seriously, you know the feeling. You're from out of town, you're driving along, and a check engine light comes on. "Crap, now what". On the recommendation of someone, I visited E&B; Not only did they diagnose my problem and adjust a sensor, but they insisted on not charging me for the repair since it was such a minor adjustment. (I insisted that they charge me.) I mean, who does that any more; an honest set of mechanics who are ethical and principled. That's awesome! Good job guys! read more

THE BEST EXPERIENCE I have ever had when having to get a repair done on my car. Let me tell you why..! I am from the Sacramento area and I was volunteering as a chaperone for my son's 5th grade science camp in Fort Bragg. I decided instead of taking the bus, I would follow behind in my own car. Just about 50 min from Fort Bragg, my car starts to over heat. Called a towtruck and had my car towed into Fort Bragg. As I was approaching Fort Bragg, I started searching on yelp for an Auto Repair place. I was looking for a place with good reviews & would be able to fix my car within a few days, while at my son's 5th grade science camp. I called one place but they said they wouldn't be able to have it done in time that I needed. My next call was to E&B Auto Repair. Curtis answered my call. I explained to him the situation & the time frame that I needed. He told me that of course he couldn't promise, but that they would do there very best. When I got to E&B I was approached by Curtis (Service Advisor) & Mike (the Owner). They made me feel extremely comfortable and treated me like I have been a long time customer of theirs. They diagnosed the problem right then & saw it was a cracked radiator. Curtis was able to get a new radiator the next day. They told me not to worry, enjoy the week with my son & not to worry about the car. I got a call the VERY NEXT DAY from Curtis while on a all day hike to tell me that my car was ready & to pick it up whenever it was convenient for me. CAR WORKS GREAT & I wouldn't have had the memories I had that week with my son if it wasn't for E&B taking such great care of everything. They exceeded my expectations. When I got into fort Bragg my brakes were absolutely shot due to my aggressive driving. Not only did Mike and Curtis do an incredible amount of work to find the parts I needed so I could be on my way (which in a small town is no easy feat) but Mike even left me with some tips for taking better care of my brakes for the rest of my travels. $75 for a smog check is rediculous. I took my car there, he hooked it up and instantly saw that since the battery was disconnected it wouldn't pass smog. He told me I had to drive the car for at least an hour at all speeds.. When I asked if he would retest for free he said no he can't do that. So he spent 3mins on my car and charged me $75 and denies me a retest after driving it the said amount.. What a rip off Stay away from these guys read more

I was actually very disappointed in this auto shop. A entire day to do an oil change (kept overnight) Asked to to know why my engine light was on. Got a 245 dollar bill for an estimate.... It would be smart of a auto shop not to charge for an estimate to keep customers comming back.. I will never bring my vehicle there again and make it a point to warn people. Left $245 poorer engine light still on and a list of things that needed work. Thanks E and B auto.North Coast ALWAYS tells me what my vehicle needs at no charge.Great way to make some extra cash.. Went in to E&B for Smog certification with a 10+ year vehicle that needed repairs to pass. Despite running into problems that required 2.5 extra days to fix, the guys were able to get the job done, and stayed in communication to keep me up-to-date on the progress. After the initial Smog test, the diagnostic session that located the problem areas, the repairs, the 2nd Smog test (Passed), and the extra labor (which was waived) the final cost came in exactly as estimated. Great place, great people. Would definitely go there again, and recommend E&B to others for Smog Certification/other work. read more
