This place is slowly becoming one of my favorite spots. They make the dürüm to order, which means it's soft, elastic, and aromatic. The condiments are superb and the value is unmatched. Definitely check out this spot!

Kebab ret platter #68: a must!

First the shortcomings: if you're obviously American, shelve your guidebook-Danish, unless you want to be called "Amigo!" Respect the Process, or the Kebab Nazi will put you in your place. So let them take your order and only specify the fixin's when they call your number. How many schwarma stalls have you seen where the meat looks entirely processed? Not here: it's a thing of beauty, with a tall stack of delicious cuts of lamb sitting under a thin layer of fat at the top. Succulent and flavorful. I had great Turkish food when I lived in Vienna and nothing before or since has ever compared--until now! The standard sandwich is good, with a freshly made pita that is light as air. But the star of the show is number 68, the kebab ret platter, for which you get to choose three salads. We opted for the spinach (with tomato and carrots), green beans (similar tomato base), and tabouleh. And may I just add: we ate a large, flavorful dinner for three for less than one of us paid at the previous night's dinner. We even had leftovers. Delicious!

Bread made to order for each shawarma makes this place standout above the average shawarma shack. I went with the plate - they let you choose three "salads" to accompany the meat - I went with double tabouli and olive/feta, both excellent. The meat was shaved off to order as well and was flavorful and moist. An incredible value at about 14 bux with a coke.

Together with Sheik Shawarma and Beyti, this is the best place in Copenhagen for shawarma and falafels.

I've eaten at a lot of restaurants in Copenhagen and I have to say that MAOBAO is in my top 10. If you're a tourist and are looking for the best local foodie spots in town, head to MAOBAO. I have yet to try everything on the menu but my top items so far are: Hong Kong Pulled Pork Bao 5/5 Pork & Shrimp Chili Wontons 5/5 Duck Breast & Cashew Cream 5/5 I've also tried the Chicken & Garlic Chive Dumplings, Celeriac Bao, and Ice Cream Bao, which are all delicious but the above 3 were by far the top contenders. If you're feeling wild, they also offer a 7-course chef's menu for 310/person. Prices are standard for Copenhagen, I just wish they didn't charge for tap water. Already planning my next visit!

MAOBAO, where art thou?…read more The only bad thing about this place is that they're never around when you're having ultimate craving for fluffy white bao with pork fillings and peanut crumblings on it. No, seriously bro - what's an Asian girl got to do here to have an easy access to those divine baos? I have tried baos here and there, but MAOBAO wins the fluffiest bao competition hand down although the fillings can be better varied, but I ain't complaining here. With the price of 60 kr for two baos, it's a little bit steep everywhere else but Denmark (well, maybe not Norway but I am not even sure if there are baos up there in the arctic circle) but I would definitely shut up and let them take my money. For now, I would just have to stalk them on social media to find out where they're going to appear next.
