Dr. Zhu is a miracle healer. After 20 years of having type 1 diabetes, I no longer require any basal insulin! I am still seeing her regularly, and who knows, she could be the cure for type 1. I was researching Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) acupuncture research and narrowed down my list of acupuncturists to her. Dr. Zhu office is calming, happy and also very neat and clean. Scheduling time on my initial visit I phoned her for an appointment. Later I realized she has an online self appointment so you can find a time that works for you. You can even reschedule your appointment. It is very convenient. It is obvious upon meeting Dr. Zhu that her utmost focus is to help her patients be happy, and have no pain. After one visit with DrZhu I experienced immediate benefits. Many of these in areas I didn't even come for!! Issues I assumed I just had to deal with: 1/ SLEPT ALL NIGHT EVERY NIGHT My Insomnia disappeared! Actually I was in denial that I even had sleep problems. This clinic is the real deal for traditional chinese medicine (TCM). Dr. Lingyun Zhu has a thorough knowledge and professional graduate schooling in both the clinical aspects and the philosophy behind acupuncture and eastern methods of whole body "systems" healing vs. location specific "symptoms" healing in western allopathic medicine. It really doesn't take too much rocket science to understand the thinking behind energy flow (qi) alignment. It's more or less what you'd call "feeling the flow", where the mind AND body are put into relaxed states that stimulate the reflex regulation of hormones, circulation, organ function, and nervous system. I've been to many acupuncturists in the peninsula, south bay, and SF, but no one gets it like Dr.Zhu. She clearly has a life passion for acupuncture science, and it shows in her precision needlework, which really do send little electrical shocks (totally painless, more tingly) through your body and relaxes your limbs. I was desperate, in pain, sick of Epidurals, it was suggested to try Acupuncture. I have slipped discs, and when it started impacting my sciatica It caused horrible nerve pain. I went to see Dr Zhu for the first time yestetrday. I had been having strange stomach discomfort that led to immense pain while on my menstruation and had trouble sleeping from the pain. Originally I thought it was just bad cramps but to continue to have heavy flow and severe cramping/stomachaches on day 5, was scary and not normal. I couldn't work, think, had zero appetite and could barely focus. I was using google and freaked myself out and diagnosed myself with an ectopic pregnancy! As someone whose studied pharmacy and believed in Western medicine all her life, I never really had much patience or understanding for Chinese medicines, such as acupuncture and herbal medicine. Although I am Chinese and grew up in that culture, I didn't really understand how medicine could be based off the flow of energy in the body called "qi" or "chi" that Chinese doctors often talk about. Wasn't it just all about the Anatomy, Biology, and Chemistry of the body? These were things you could study and observe with your very eyes, not this mysterious energy that is at the root of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that Dr. Zhu practices. I don't suffer from any tremendous disease or have any extreme ailments. I'm a mostly healthy young adult. However, for most of my adult life, I've had persistent allergies. Whether it be from dust, pollen, animal fur, or whatever. During the spring seasons, my nose is rarely clear and most of the time I'm sniffling. I've learned to deal with it and take medication such as Sudafed (going to be plug this in here because Sudafed is a miracle worker when it comes to congestion, trust me) or allergy medications. The thing about Western medicine is that it rarely treats the root of the problem. If I wanted my allergies to "go away", I would have to take the medication daily, something I hate doing and relying on. Enter: Dr. Zhu. My dad had found Dr. Zhu through some recommendations and like me, he suffers from allergies. Not only that, but as an older man, he has other chronic illnesses, such as some throat problems and back pain as well. Dr. Zhu is truly a remarkable person. I have tried too many different acupuncturists over the last 5 years, which is why I can confidently say Dr. Zhu is the best. Her clinic exudes a calm and soothing energy, and she herself is so caring to patients. She is also extremely skilled. Dr. Zhu is Awesome! I am not a fan of neither Western nor Eastern medicine but this is truly the way to go if you are experiencing any type of pain. I knew very little about traditional chinese medicine but I was in extreme pain and decided to try it out. Dr. Z is very patient and kind, she listens intently while examining you and and proceeds with treatment. She asked me a few questions that were key to an accurate diagnosis. She gave me acupuncture and cupping therapy on my first visit. While receiving my treatment I drifted in and out of a very peaceful nap. As I was leaving she offered chinese herbs......in a word YUCK. I listened to her instructions on preparations and went home and I drank up! On my second visit I was given an acupuncture treatment and more herbs. By week 3 I was no longer experiencing any sciatic pain; all the pain in my lower back, legs, calves and toes were gone. I've been seeing Dr. Zhu since June 2015 for among other things Arthritis. I have had pain in my hip and front of my left leg as a result and since coming to the Dr. the pain in my hip has subsided significantly and the pain in my leg is almost gone as well. This is a long overdue review. I normally don't have the time to write reviews online, but I want to share my personal experience to help others who might find it helpful. #1: Eczema/atopic dermatitis: My daughter had cradle cap at about 1 yr old, eventually she developed eczema as expected as the pediatrician already warned us that there is a link between the two. The pediatrician did mention cradle cap is an early sign of eczema. From age 1- age 2: My daughter breaks out from time to time, but it was still managable. From age 3: This is the worst episode of our lives. My poor daughter started to have a bad case of night time itchiness in the collarbone area, behind the neck, forearms where the folds are, and the back of her hands, wrists and fingers, even the areas where she doesn't have any visible rashes or dry patches. She had a hard time falling asleep. She would toss and turn for about 1 hour and 30 mins to 2 hours before finally falling asleep. She would stay asleep for a few hours, then wakes up in the middle of the night SEVERAL times due to itchiness. The constant scratching was driving me insane. Saw MANY medical doctors, dermatologists, all they can do was prescribed steroid creams and told me to try Clariton, Zyertec. None of the treatment plans from conventional doctors had made any significant improvements, or I should say ZERO improvements. I knew for sure the cause was not external. I made sure every product in our household does not contain un-necessary chemical. At this point, she was already 3 and was still not able to sleep through the night. She wakes up every night around 4-8 times. Not only she was miserable, as a full time working mom, my health was deteriating because of the constant night time waking and also I have a very demanding job during the day. I was so weak, even talking made me tired. Saw several MDs and even Thalassemia specialist from Stanford, Kaiser, Sutter Health, none of them was able to help me. I am a peri-menopausal woman and I started to have irregular uterine bleeding recently ( on top of other symptoms). My last one was 6 weeks long- I developed anemia and my blood pressure started to rise. Several years ago I went to another acupuncturist for over a year because I had a chronic cough in the winter time and some other issues, but I stopped going because she did not help me and I felt like I was wasting my money. I decided to give acupuncture another try in November of 2016 and found Dr. Zhu through the Yelp app. I have been going to see Dr. Zhu on a regular basis for almost a year now and I am so happy I found her! I first went to see her because I had a chronic cough (bronchitis) and with acupuncture and her herbs my cough finally went away and she has been helping me boost my immune system as well. As a teacher I would always get sick when my students went to school sick, but since going to Dr. Zhu that is not the case anymore. In the spring a flu made its way through the school and both students and teachers were coughing and miserable, but I stayed healthy. I am positive it is thanks to Dr. Zhu and her treatments. In early July I had an accident and ended up with a concussion. A few days later I went to the doctor as I had developed a red rash on my right chest, my side and back that burned, itched, felt numb, and hurt so much I could not focus on anything. My doctor diagnosed me with shingles, a virus that attacks the nerves, and she said it was activated by the stress of the physical trauma I suffered in the accident. My doctor prescribed an anti viral, Valtrex, and an anti-seizure medication, gabapentin, for the pain. The gabapentin did not help my pain, but I found that after taking it for about three days my mental state was altered negatively. I became very depressed and my husband noticed. We looked up gabapentin online and it has terrible side effects- even causing some people to commit suicide. I threw the gabapentin pills away immediately and I realized that Western medicine did not understand how to help me with my shingles. Instead I went to Dr. Zhu and with her treatments (once a week) and her herbs I slowly started to feel better. The very first thing I want to say, is thank you from the bottom of my heart Dr. Zhu. Your expertise, knowledge, empathy, communication, intuition, and listening skills are like none I have experienced in any health care situation (Western or Eastern). Dr. Zhu's sincerity shines through her so brightly that anyone in her care is immediately put to ease. Acupuncture is something many people are afraid to try or they don't believe it works. They may come in nervous or doubtful it will actually help. I think bad prior experiences with Eastern medicine contributes to people's lack of desire to try it. I had been under the care of Dr. Wu from Cornerstone acupuncture Center for a month or two. While treatment did begin to slowly work, his bedside manner was so offensive that I cringed every time I knew I had an appointment. The entire experience from the moment you walk in, until you're left to see yourself out is just miserable. He took little if no time to talk to me or even look at me. He would address my husband as if I wasn't even in the room or mattered, but I was the patient! He never took time to explain or educate me, even when I asked questions. Occasionally I'd get some vague reply that left me more confused. His style of needle application (directly through my navel) was excruciating and I later learned is a technique not encouraged or supported by the acupuncture community. His rates were high and he only accepted cash. There were just too many reason's I felt a lack of connection and therefore trust or respect to stay in his care. So I began a search. I thank God that I finally found Dr. Zhu at the Dzogchen Healing Center in Saratoga. In less than 5 minutes, all the fear, anxiety, apprehension, mistrust, etc that Dr. Wu put me through melted away like butter. Not all healers are alike. There are good ones out there! Her office is a smaller one, tucked away in an adorable upscale community. Her waiting area is quiet and peaceful. You're offered tea and welcomed very warmly. On my initial exam, she didn't just hand me some 5 page questionnaire, glance through it quickly and then start sticking me with needles. She went through the answers I gave. She wanted to know details and history (like a western doctor is required by law to). During this process, she quickly ascertained that the initial problem I sought help for from Dr. Wu, was actually much more involved, and that care for the whole body and spirit was needed in order for me to reach health and happiness. I had lots of questions and she gently answered them all. Her demeanor and voice is so soothing, it's easy to understand her and feel safe and satisfied the treatments are appropriate. Once it was time to begin the treatment with the needles, she was diligent to check on me. She wanted me to express what I was feeling, physically and emotionally. She listens very closely. She believes and practices "Do No Harm"... which as a former massage therapist I understand it's a code one lives by when people put their life in your hands. The room was clean and comfortable. Everything was very sterile. The table was heated and she had extra heat lamps for my comfort. There was even soothing music. She was swift with insertion (often I didn't even feel it). What a joy! I had come from someone that had me crying out in agony, leaving me in a room with a timer and then after it went off, frequently i was left waiting to the point my husband would have to go look for him. Not Dr. Zhu! She gave me a bell and if I rang it, she came immediately. But more importantly, I didn't really need the bell. She checked on me naturally. Loving and nurturing. By my second visit, instead of leaving barely able to walk, in so much pain and basically useless the rest of the night...I was ENERGIZED! You could see the glow in my skin, the smile on my face. I called Dr Zhu one day on a late Saturday afternoon figuring she would probably deny me since it was close to closing time. She asked me if it was an emergency and I said yes, I could barely walk. Chinese Herbal medicine and acupuncture are not something that you will believe so easily, but it is very effective when it comes to treating chronic diseases. Once you have tried it, you will be convinced of its effectiveness. We found Dr. Zhu online when we were searching desperately for an herbal doctor for my younger daughter. She was 2 and half years old back then. She went from having regular cold, to bronchitis, pneumonia and couple of times of UTI. After a long seven months of several rounds of antibiotics, she was not getting better. Not knowing that visit was the beginning of our special relationship with Dr. Zhu. Wow! I cannot believe I am writing this to say that Dr. Zhu has basically healed my lower back and leg symptoms! For about 5+ years I have been battling with lower back pain. Issues from herniated disc, numbness in my feet, sciatica, and inability to walk straight even. I have had multiple epidural treatments along with a wide variety of medicine and pain killers which offered me little to no relief. I was reluctant to look at acupuncture as an option but I was willing to try anything at that point. I have to say my only regret is I did not go sooner. Last Thursday (June 7, 2013) is my second time to visit Dr. Zhu. Same as the first time, she checked on my pulse first. She told me my low back pain should be gone from my pulse and my tight neck is getting tender. The most important thing I can notice is my red eyes got relief a lot. My eyes were red for many many years. She gave me some Chinese medicine and the red got relief a lot in two weeks. This time, Dr Zhu gave me acupuncture to healing my elbow pain. She said the pain was caused by my weak kidney. After about 20 minutes treatment, my pain got relief about 40%. Then she applied more in another 20 minutes. Dr. Zhu is an angel! She is probably the most genuinely kind and caring doctor I have been to. When you meet her you feel at ease, I honestly knew she would help me even though I never thought I could get better. Her office is also very clean and in a really easy to find location. I have had sciatica problems since 1979 and have been looking for Acupuncture therapy since I moved to the bay area from Boston in 1996. On the last day of 2012, I was travel to San Jose to see a friend of mine. After breakfast my herinial problem happened again , but this time was getting big as egg and hard as rock.
