Halfords sell a good range of car maintenance, push bikes and camping equipment as well as baby and child products and toys and games. The Selby branch of Halfords is a two level store. Like other Halfords branches they will replace light bulbs and windscreen wipers for you as well as more major items like batteries for a small charge. I brought the children's bikes there last year as they have good deals on and even let you 'talk' a bit more discount if you are buying several bikes. The staff are friendly and offer good advice . and if you are polite often don't charge for changing light bulbs and minor items :)

He never makes you feel bad about anything; even if you repeat the same mistake one too many times, his patience and reassuring manner will help you get it right the next time. Also, being out on the road for the first time on the bike made me feel very nervous but Garry made me feel very safe, even when being 10 cars behind me! A very good place to learn, I highly recommend it.

It isn't the most attractive services out there, but certainly does the job with multiple branches of Starbucks in the concourse and a drive-thru if you're in a hurry, lots of parking with other brands including Waitrose, WHSmith, Burger King and KFC. There is also a basic Days Inn Hotel. There is a small bridge connecting the Eastbound and Westbound concourses. Obviously, the outlets are very overpriced, mainly selling overpriced food/drink and travel essentials, some items of which I can't think of a reason why anyone would potentially need it, especially at those inflated prices! I much prefer Leeds Skeleton Lake Services which is the next services along the M1, but this isn't a bad alternative if you're passing through the area and need a rest-stop. 3*

The facilities there are more or less what you'd expect; the toilets aren't too bad, and the shop is OK if you can stomach the inflated prices. Likewise the petrol is over-priced -- or at least it was when I last filled up. At peak times in the summer it can get quite busy, but I've never known it to be heaving -- I suspect there are much busier motorway services elsewhere in the UK. All in all, Hartshead Moor is OK as motorway services go
