Great Place to come and learn Taekwondo. The teacher is not one of these guys who acts like he knows martial arts.

Phil Clark's Martial Arts Academy (which I'm just gonna call PCMAA from hereon out because words) is, hands down, one of my favorite places to get my fitness on in this side of the country! You get to learn self-defense, BJJ, TKD, and you get a great workout/make awesome friends while you're at it. What more could you ask for? :D My friend found this place when we ventured out here for rotations and told me about it since he knew I'd been on the prowl for an MMA gym of sorts. My mom wouldn't let me learn martial arts when I was little because she thought I'd turn all manly, but seeing how I turned out anyway, she really should've just let me. (Too bad so sad.) It's better late than never though! Anyway! Ever since August-ish of last year, I've been coming to the TKD & BJJ classes here as often as my lovely schedule will allow. Phil is quite possibly one of the nicest souls to grace this town and/or planet, and I am so, so glad that I found PCMAA. :] I felt super welcome and comfortable there from day one, which is really saying a lot, considering how up close and personal you get when you're rolling with other people in BJJ. He's also an amazing instructor who honestly goes above and beyond what he has to in order to best help us to learn. (My somewhat sporadic appearances make it difficult to remember what I have and haven't learned sometimes. ._.) We're super lucky to have him, as he's had extensive experience with karate, TKD and BJJ. The classes currently being offered include... -One More Round Fitness: a boxing full-body conditioning-style boot camp of sorts -Gracie Jiu Jitsu: we're affiliated with Relson Gracie, so he and Rhalan come out here and hold seminars! :D!!! -Taekwondo: a mixture of traditional & modern--depending on what you'd rather learn, he teaches both the forms as well as self-defense and kickboxing (*Full schedule is listed at the bottom of this review!*) On days where I actually am free, I often end up hanging out here hours after classes have already ended to talk/hang out/roll with other students or with Phil. The environment here is very, very friendly and welcoming--it's definitely a family-like atmosphere, which I've really grown to love and appreciate out here. All ages and fitness/experience levels are welcome, as classes will be tailored to the students. :] The first trial class is free, and there's a referral program for current students ($15 off their next month of classes if they refer a new student and that student signs up for the month!). Master Perry understands when to be firm and instill discipline but also knows how when not to push too far. He knows how to work with kids and adults alike and never make it seem like one age set is treated any better or worse than another. Along with Master Perry I also have tons of respect and admiration for the other masters who instruct class as well as the black belts of all ages who never hesitate to assist those younger or less experienced. If you are looking for high quality Tae Kwon Do instruction I don't think you could do much better than Master Perry. Whether for you or for your child.

I went here for 2 days in march, cancelled my membership a week later, and now in April a whole month later, even after coming into the dojo and filling out a cancelation form, i was charged again for the month of April ( i was also told to my face that i wouldn't be charged for April, but I still was, meaning the person who handles money or memberships at this gym either is incompetent or just doesn't do their job or they are all in on this huge scam down there. ) I will get my full refund. and a possible lawsuit is coming their way. Long story short, DO NOT COME HERE, THEY SCAM, SUPER EXPENSIVE, AND DONT ACTUALLY TEACH. I cant express how bad this gym is, please stay away like its the plague. Also I'm a young adult who joined another gym after this one and it really opened my eyes. So if you wanna learn Martial Arts or MMA or anything like that, DO NOT COME HERE, you will be scammed. The park, especially on a gorgeous 80 degree Sunny Sunday day, would have been jammed pack with bumper to bumper cars cruising through the park. Every field, every table, every inch being utilized BUT not today! Today's generation doesn't like to go outside. A park goes to waste on them. It's a true shame. Tony and I walked around the small groups of people fishing and talking. We saw 2 turtles. I took pics of flowers and the beautiful scenery while our grandson enjoyed the playground with his mother. My only concern is that people are NOT using the trash cans. Pure lazy people! The cans were not full, people just chose not to take the few extra steps to throw stuff away properly!!

I quite like it for the pickle ball courts. The groundhogs, however, despise this place since the lead groundskeeper of the groundhog community left many years ago to audition for the next Punxsutawney Phil role. He won the audition, which meant the rest of the groundhog community had surrendered their power and naming rights to Radical Ringtail, the leader of the Charleston Trash Panda gang. Now putting that totally irrelevant nonsense to the side, we can expect many great things to come from the beautiful views and scenic West Virginia trails.

Plenty of hiking / walking trails. The pool is not heated and we were there early in the season so it was still too cold for us. The hot tub was great, but could use a little TLC. It is plenty big (made by the residents themselves!). I had to rewrite the brakes in our trailer while there and not one person complained, in fact one of the residents lent me some tools! It's a little rustic and could use an infusion of money to improve the maintenance; however all-in-all a great place. Check out the nearby Serpent Mound park! We will definitely stay there again!
