My MIL first sent us to another park that had a super rinky dink playground. I told my husband, text your cousin, he'll know the best playground in the area. Thank god we did, because he directed us here. Driving up I was a little concerned, because it is in the heart of a run down area. However, when we were there at 11 a.m. on a Thursday, it was completely empty. By the end one family came and joined, but I was surprised how few people were here. (I had the same thought at the Clay Center, so I've just accepted that I have no idea where the young children of Charleston are.) I just read online that it was recently renovated. No wonder it looked pretty modern and clean. None of that mulch on that ground that gives you splinters when it breaks your fall. There are two playgrounds so my kids (two and four) ran back and forth between the two. There's also a picnic area in the middle that is covered. Definitely bring sunscreen. I was surprised there's no trees or any type of covering. However, that seems to be the norm here, because the other playground didn't have any type of covering either. Being from out of town, I'm used to lots of shade at playground, so I'm glad I brought sunscreen. Parking is street parking, but there is tons of it. The park is fenced so that made it feel a little safer as well. This will be my go-to park every time we visit.

It's in between the river and a busy main road, so it's a bit noisy... And yet, so peaceful watching the sunset and the tugs go by. Two day limit in 15 days is fair enough. 3 spots. A friendly local also walking her dog wished me a pleasant stay. Many families enjoying the playground with their kids and couples enjoying the scenic view. I only wish there was some sort of crosswalk to the stores on the other side of the busy street.

Stayed here while we were passing through the area on a bike trip. The owner has a Giovanni's franchise(common to qc and Kentucky) and absolutely excellent food and service. We asked to upgrade cabins due to the size of the one we were staying in (and it was off season, so it smelled a bit musty) and were upgraded at no charge! She also offered to let us have some firewood, but we did not need it. We stayed in a cabin called the Kentucky or something like that. Which,oddly enough is not shown on their website, it is an A frame cabin with a large sliding door, 2 beds and a futon. (A table, counter, coffee pot and small fridge). The a frame cabins (apx 8 of them) share a common fire ring which they a circled around, kind of a neat setup. They should get added to the website. Bathrooms were clean and heated.

We are visiting from out of town and this has been the highlight for my six year old. He has asked…read moreto come every day. There is a bunch of playground equipment and even a splash pad. The splash pad has a covered picnic area right by it, so parents don't have to sit in the hot sun! There is also free sunscreen. Definitely recommend this playground. We were truly pleasantly surprised!
