David has a nice inviting voice that was able to get the entire room involved in whatever we were doing. The music selection (if there is a way to copy it and send it to us please do) was fantastic, tasteful and full of life. Lupe took care of every detail that we had no idea that we were missing. Having Dynamic Sounds Hawaii emcee and DJ for my baby's 1st birthday party has to be one of the best decisions I've made. Having paid the caterer over $6,000 to feed 500 guests and not show up until 9 pm (when dinner was supposed to be served at 6 pm) was just a nightmare. Because all the phone numbers I got via email just went straight to voicemail, David worked his magic and was able to get a phone number from his wife Lupe to get a hold of the caterer's owner, who supposedly "accidentally deleted my order". He did an amazing job continuing the party as it should while also keeping my guests informed and me calm. Prior to the party, I was in close contact with both David and Lupe. Communication was just superb. David listened and carried out my requests for the party, like our song choices. And, Lupe did an excellent job coming up with the timeline. Both would bring up concerns and suggestions/ideas that I wouldn't have thought of - just so everything going on during the party would run smoothly. In terms of price, they are more than willing to work around your budget. I would not hesitate for a second to work with them again! Extremely disappointed with our experience working with Dynamic Sounds Hawaii, which ended up with Dynamic Sounds taking our money & disappearing with 0 services fulfilled. My husband and I were one of many unlucky couples who had planned a wedding for 2020 and forced to reschedule MULTIPLE times throughout the pandemic. We landed on Dynamic Sounds after a few other DJs we had booked weren't able to make our new dates. After the first couple calls with David and Lupe we had a great feeling about them and were excited to move forward with them. Unfortunately due to additional updates and changes to covid restrictions in Hawaii we had to downsize and move our reception outdoors, to which we were told by our venue we wouldn't be allowed to have amplified sound due to the close proximity to hotel rooms and our ceremony being moved up to the morning. After sharing this info with Dynamic Sounds, they told us they couldn't refund our $1,000 deposit and that the venue prohibiting amplified sound for our reception was out of their control. And after we asked for a partial refund, CRICKETS. I completely understand the pandemic had huge impacts on businesses, but with covid restrictions easing, and wedding business picking back up, we didn't expect any of our vendors to rob us and disappear. Dynamic Sounds was the ONLY vendor who didn't offer any kind of refund (partial or full), or even an alternative service to fulfill the deposit we paid. Not the experience I expected when first speaking with David and Lupe. And definitely not something I'd recommend to anyone else trying to plan a special occassion, let alone their "big day" after 1.5 years of covid triumphs. read more

Oh my goodness gracious, I freaking love Lupe and David Louis. We had our wedding over a month ago and everything was absolutely perfect, and a big part of it is because of them. I initially heard about Dynamic Sounds from the Wedding Cafe, and I knew that I wanted to book with David. He was sooo knowledgable and seemed like he understood all aspects of the wedding process, and the wedding itself. I felt very comfortable with him and knew that he would provide excellent service. After agreeing to book with Dynamic Sounds, we had two interviews with Lupe to discuss the timeline of our wedding. Since I didn't have a wedding planner and was doing all of the planning on my own, she was a real lifesaver bc she came up with the most detailed timeline that I have ever seen. She actually had two timelines...one was the "simplified" version that goes to the vendors (except when my bridal party saw this they were so impressed with how detailed it was), and then she had an even MORE detailed version that was for herself and David, so that they knew exactly what was going to happen at every single minute. It was really great to see how organized she was bc it matches up with how I try to be. And so it made the wedding day so much smoother bc we knew exactly what to expect at all times. Another thing I wanted to give Lupe extra credit for is that my husband and I both had separate surprises for each other that we both did not know about (I had a hula dance and he had a singing performance). And Lupe had to be on the ball with this and make sure that we did not find out about the other person's surprise. Also, my bridesmaids came up with a surprise rap song for me as their "speech", so Lupe had to secretly coordinate with them and make sure that David had the correct song, etc. During the reception I thought that I was the only one giving a performance but I was caught off guard by all the other surprises and had no idea that Lupe orchestrated it all behind the scenes. It just blew me away how much work she put into keeping it a secret! And she did it so gracefully too! So Lupe mentioned that she helps with the wedding timelines but she doesn't always attend the weddings. We were so shocked and honored when Lupe made a surprise appearance towards the end of our wedding reception to congratulate us! It was such a sweet gesture and she literally made me cry of joy when I saw her! :*) Now for some well-deserved accolades for David. He was such a great MC and everyone raved about how fun our wedding was ("fun" was one of the top things we wanted our wedding to be). He executed a couple of really fun and interactive games and our guests had a blast. David was able to get so many of our guests to do things that I never would've imagined that they'd do. Haha. I'm sure the alcohol played a little part in it but I think it was mostly David. :) All of our guests had a blast and so did we! In all honesty I was a bit hesitant to book with Dynamic Sounds initially because I thought that their prices were a bit steep. I knew that no matter what, I would want them at my wedding someday. My sister first saw Dynamic Sound at the wedding cafés wedding workshop featuring the wedding timeline and reception. My wife Julie and I chose Dynamic Sounds as our DJ/MC for our wedding and we could not be happier with how our big day went. Our experience with DS started with David while we were first shopping around with other DJ options. David was friendly, honest, and informative of what their process was and what he can expect from us through planning and execution of the ceremony and reception. We felt comfortable with the plan David established so Julie and me decided to go with DS. Shortly after we agreed on terms Lupe took over as our point of contact for the vendor, and the communication transitioned over smoothly from our initial conversation with David. After a brief introduction conversation over the phone, Lupe drafted us an extensive outline for both our ceremony and reception less than a week later. After only one more follow up phone call a few weeks later making a few minor adjustments to the initial outline we were pretty much set for the wedding. During this planning Lupe also made a point to retrieve contact information to our other vendors and our actual wedding coordinator which made us feel better knowing that someone else was keeping an eye over the whole operation. Once our outline was set, Lupe passed the communication for us over to Gary (the actual DJ/MC for our event) who we contacted about two weeks prior to wedding day. Gary was a blast to talk to on the phone. After a few short beatbox snippets and a couple hilarious Dad jokes, I knew we had our guy. We went over Lupe's outline one more time while bouncing some ideas off each other of more entertainment we can add to the day and Gary was open and very helpful to all our ideas, good and bad. On the wedding day, Gary met me just prior to the ceremony to introduce himself and briefly give me a heads up of what to expect as I walk out to the altar. He also introduced me to Tino, the man behind the music. The ceremony was perfect and all our songs were spot on to the exact second throughout, even through multiple transitions throughout the ceremony. As we moved to the reception and hecticness ensued trying to organize all the rowdy guests and family members, Gary did a great job getting everyone and the bridal party set for the grand entrances and first dance. Everything was settled quickly and the program continued smoothly. Gary and Tino did an awesome job not only sticking to our program but being flexible in a few instances. Gary charmingly addressed the crowd a couple times for brief intermissions allowing Julie and me more time to eat and even use the bathroom. Gary and Tino, along with our wedding coordinator, also organized an on the spot wedding anniversary dance for my parents (who happened to have their wedding anniversary the same day). I can't appreciate the efforts of everyone in DS enough in making our ceremony and reception as special for Our families as it was for Julie and me. I was so so so blessed to have Dynamic Sounds recommended to me. They were one of my favorite vendors to work with for our wedding. We got to work with both David and Lupe because we purchased the MC/DJ/Wedding Coordinator package. Let me tell you - soooooo worth it! Technically, on paper, it says Lupe was our Day-of-WC, but really, it felt like Lupe was our WC the entire way. She met with us several times face-to-face to make sure that we were on the right track. We live far from her, so I loved that she chose a meeting location in the middle so that we could meet halfway. During the meetings, Lupe was just so warm, friendly, totally organized, and helped us brainstorm creative ideas for our wedding and understand what our next to-do list was. She really helped us stay on top of things, and she scaffolded the information on a "need-to-know" basis so that we never got overwhelmed. For David's part, he really spent a lot of time walking us through everything and all our different choices during our initial video conference through Skype. He is just so well-knowledgeable and charismatic. We found out he has been formally trained and in the business for many, many years. Both him and Lupe even run workshops and classes (like at the Wedding Cafe for example), and they attend conferences and such to stay educated and atop their profession. David even met with us face-to-face as we got closer to the big day to review everything with us. The attention to details was awesome - name pronunciations, jokes he might tell, song and game choices, plan As and plan Bs, etc. Both David and Lupe take the time to get to know their couples on a personal level. They helped us craft a wedding that represented who WE are as a couple. On the day of the wedding, everything went smoothly without a hitch! If there were any problems, I never knew about them because Lupe probably just took care of it! Ha ha! They literally MADE the wedding what it was. I could not have done it without Lupe's help. She is just so organized, energetic, warm, happy, experienced, and lovable. And David's MCing was just AWESOME! He helped my guests understand the part they played in our special day - he made it so that our reception was not just a "sit and spectate" event. One thing I would recommend is to figure out who is going to own the timeline. Lupe is great at setting up the timeline, but it's possible with a coordinator that there are too many cooks in the kitchen. I first saw this company in action at my friend's wedding. I went stag and was worried that I would feel uncomfortable and lonely since I was by myself and not knowing who I was going to sit with and dealing with awkward small talk. I was wrong! They made me feel so comfortable and got the guests involved on making memories for the bride and groom. I had so much fun that I forgot that I arrived to my friend's wedding by myself! Fast forward to when I started my wedding planning process, I knew that I wanted to contact them for my wedding reception. We first spoke to David via Skype and he talked to us about what his services entails (which had meetings and a timeline for the reception). But we feel we got a lot more as they went above and beyond our expectations! Our wedding planner actually recommended them and it was good to know that they have worked together with past clients as well as get along outside the "office." All the vendors that we talked to said we basically got all our "key players" of our dream team which was nice to know that we hired the right people! I relied heavily on email correspondence in which Lupe was awesome in replying in a timely matter. My wife told our wedding planner that we wanted an MC that was funny, tasteful and professional and the first company she recommended was Dynamic Sounds. Before our wedding we met with Dave and Lupe several times to go over our time line and first dance. We really wanted to do several things out of the norm to ensure our guests were on their toes. They gave us great ideas for the garter/bouquet toss, different games during the ceremony, and center piece give away that were different from anything I've ever seen. If there is one thing I heard all night long at our wedding, it was "Your MC is soooo good!". He really was. I have a friend in this exact business who offered to do my wedding for a really good price. I've used him before for parties and he was fine for that. But this was my wedding day, not just any party. This requires much more knowledge, patience, and finesse. David brought all of that and he was absolutely worth every single penny--our guest's compliments and my sanity are testament to that. We worked with DeeAnn initially, starting from a year prior to our wedding. Then we consulted with David for a good amount of time about exactly what we wanted. I still feel like we were so vague with him--it's hard for me to describe what kind of people we are and how we want the ambiance to be without sounding so generic. We're fun, laid-back, low-maintenance people. That being said, I'm also a neurotic perfectionist with enormous attention to detail and a quirky sense of humor--I think I left all that craziness out when I met him. So I feel like he had little to go on. But he nailed it. Our wedding went off without a hitch. I hired Dave to do the ceremony music, reception music, and as my MC. He did everything perfectly. If you ever meet him, he'll tell you what sets him apart from other MCs...the little attention to detail to make sure there are no awkward pauses in your program. He'll also start throwing all kinds of fun and crazy ideas, if that's what you want, to make your reception totally unique. Our guests had such a blast and we did too with the ideas David had. It was a party...just like we wanted it to be. It wasn't boring or prissy or so structure that it felt starchy. Make no mistake, it was structured, but only the people behind the scenes knew that. Everyone else just felt like they were at a fun party. The rest of the planning process was primarily between Lupe (his wife) and myself. I feel like I gained a friend out of Lupe. She is just about the prettiest, sweetest little package of love and I can see how she and David make the perfect couple. She did all the legwork on our wedding to make sure that everything we wanted got done, even if I missed all her deadlines. She was always gracious and patient with me. David worked with me even on the day of when I decided to make his job challenging. Just before our grand entrance, he reminded me of what we were supposed to be doing: walk in, hand off the bouquet, dance, take back the bouquet, make my way to the podium to do Thank Yous. Thank Yous?! I didn't have time to write them yet, and stupid me...I didn't look that hard at the itinerary...I thought they were later in the program. No problem, David said. Friends have recommended Dynamic Sounds and have been used for 2 different wedding occasions. Both only had positive things to say. Attempted to book the dynamic duo owners Dave and Lupe about a year out and they were already taken! They had other MC's working with them and I was able to do 2 interviews. I was fortunate to find David D. who was funny and easy going. When wedding day came (first time meeting him in person), he gave my husband and I a hug and told us not to worry and assured us that the night was going to be fun. As busy as that day was, it was soothing to hear those simple words. Let me tell you, David D. was amazing! We only had time for 2 games, although they had ideas in mind there was 1 I wanted to play that involved each guest table so it was a huge crowd participation. I found the game on youtube sent the link to Lupe and went over it. As busy as summer weddings are, Lupe called me if she couldn't get a hold of me via email, notified me when she was on vacation and even referred me to Deanne in place of her, I had mentioned I was stressed and received a phone call that night. Upon our meeting, Lupe took authority on the timeline and provided suggestions and prepared time slots for everything that went on during the wedding. During the planning process, we could opt to provide a detailed song list during cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing otherwise providing the type of music/artist wanted was also sufficient. She played a key factor in keeping the reception stress-free, manageable, and was also familiar with some of my vendors so she took the initiative to email them with updates. Lupe is pleasant and wonderful. Tino was my DJ for the day who was also great. Being able to sing quietly to ourselves with our preplanned song selection did put us in a good mood. Prior to the wedding, John another DJ was able to remix together a few songs for a surprised dance for the groom. I can't say enough nice things about the team at Dynamic Sounds. They really provided extra value on our big day and here are some key reasons why: 1. Lupe created the perfect reception timeline for us to capture everything we wanted while we had our photographer and videographer. She also synced up with our coordinator so that i didn't need to send any emails, they were on the same page. 2. Chris, our DJ, kept us on time the entire night without feeling like we were on a time crunch. Everything was at a great pace. 3. Attention to name pronunciations, seems small but trust me no one wants to hear their name mispronounced. 4. Advice cards. We hadn't even thought of this until Chris and Lupe asked if they could do this. After our wedding, we had so much fun reading through what our friends and family wrote for us. 5. My wife and I decided to go with them to both emcee and dj our wedding and couldn't be happier with our experience and the way our wedding/reception turned out. We first found Dynamic Sounds through The Wedding Cafe Hawaii's Wednesday Night Workshops. They were also recommended to us by my sister and brother-in-law who used their services for their wedding three years ago. After attending The Wedding Cafe Hawaii's Wednesday Night Workshops, and hearing what David Louis had to say about creating the perfect wedding reception timeline, we knew that his company was a perfect fit for us. We met with David for our consultation and liked his ideas, so we decided to book him. Afterwards, we met with his wife, Lupe, who created our wedding reception timeline. They are both very professional and we had a great time meeting with them! Dynamic Sounds is very flexible and they make sure to please their couples. They did not judge us, as we went on a more nontraditional path, and were very accommodating about it! For example, we decided not to do the garter toss, bouquet toss, or mother/son dance. We also wanted to take sunset photos, and they made sure to include that in the program since they knew it was important to us. They also were able to create a "dancing in the clouds" type of effect for our first dance, which we loved! On our wedding day, it was nice that David would check in on us every so often to make sure that we were doing ok, to see if we needed anything, and to let us know what would happen next in our program. We had a small intimate wedding with our closest friends and family at Halekulani's Hau Terrace. David and Lupe is a dynamic duo of Dynamic Sound that made our wedding an unforgettable night. Their attention to detail, experience, and professionalism are what make them stand out from all the other MC's we interviewed Lupe drafted a detailed timeline of our wedding reception down to the last minute. I just have to say, as a wedding planning noob, this timeline was a life saver! Having a small wedding, we wanted to involve all of our guests in the celebration, so we wanted to include a lot of games and dancing. The order and length of the speeches, games, dances, activities were all laid out in the timeline, this helped the night run so smoothly. David and his assistant executed the timeline to perfection. As an MC, David was personable, funny, and engaging. All of our guests had a blast, it was definitely one of the highlights of the night to see all of our friends and family laughing, dancing, and having a great time. The night exceeded our expectations, it went without a glitch. We booked Dynamic sounds to be the DJ and Emcee at my brothers wedding. In the months leading up to the wedding we worked with Lupe through email, filling out timeline forms and just trying to organize a program for the reception. Lupe was very patient with us, even up to the week prior to the wedding we were changing things around and she was kind in organizing everything to fit what the bride and groom wanted on their big day. We also worked closely with DeeAnn who made an effort to meet us where it was most convenient to us and I appreciated that. DeeAnn was very help in just updating us on what things they needed and what the bride and groom wanted. A couple of days before the wedding we met with our Emcee: Dave Dunaway. Right from the get go we were excited to have him as our Emcee. Very enthusiastic, local and warm personality. On the day of the wedding he was awesome! He incorporated a game into the program and EVERYONE enjoyed it! The team was very flexible with the program because what's a wedding without a few surprises? But they worked very well with us and we appreciated that. The only thing that prevents me from giving them 5 stars is that we simply requested no "Dirty/Booty Music" because we had a lot of church family there, yet it was played. I specifically asked although it was requested respectfully do not play it and it was still played. I had to go to the DJ and ask him to please change it to like 80's music or something else clean. He did but it wasn't really songs that people danced to. The dance started off great and everyone was having a good time but it died down no later than 30-45mins. I would still recommend dynamic sounds to other but you should be really specific and clear on what you want. read more

Don Faumuina- The emcee from Dynamic Sounds Honolulu was horrible! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! He was so rude to the bridal party and to the guests. When the bridal party arrived when the wedding planner told them to, he already had an attitude. Being very smart and disrespectful. I was shocked how he was treating us. asking questions we obviously didn't know the answers to because we didn't rehearse anything for the reception. And this was our first time meeting him. why would you ask the maid of honor "do you know where your going to stand" when she clearly doesn't know where to go because you didn't tell her where to go. and laugh when she tells you where she thinks she's supposed to go? And you say nope, your wrong. Aren't we paying you to be here and tell us where to go? Not act like your better then us. Act your age, not your shoe size. He was very unprofessional in the way he greeted us and talked to us. He talked to us like we were children. He had a stick up his butt the whole night. He acted like he did not want to be there! Do not request Don Faumuina! he is unprofessional, not personable at all, rude, disrespectful, a smart alec, he didn't care at all about anybody except himself. He didn't take pride in his work. He looked drained and was super grumpy. He wasn't funny at all. nobody was interested in what he had to say. he didn't relate to the couple or the audience. After the maid of honor and best man said their speeches He said "people always forget to prepare a toast" so he said a toast. But the maid of honor did a toast at the end of her speech. That's just one example how he was incorrect in what he was saying. You can jus tell he's doing his job for the paycheck, it's not his passion. He doesn't enjoy his job and it shows. And I will definitely call his boss tomorrow and let her or him know what happened last night so he can get talked to or written up because his attitude and actions were unacceptable. His personality and all around awesomeness was contagious at every meeting and especially during our wedding! He listened to what we wanted and delivered. Holy Crap! This team is awesome! We had Dynamic Sounds DJ/MC our wedding reception a few weeks ago. Two things I was worried about in planning the wedding - the food and the music! I contacted them early on and Lupe contacted me and had us fill out questionaires to help make the day go smoothly. We had two skype appointments with her to go over our timeline (which she shared with our planner to make it even easier). She gave us many tips and ideas about how to make the reception more fun.. my advice is to TAKE HER IDEAS!!! They were the best! Day of the wedding - David and his crew were awesome in keeping the crowd engaged. He played games, read advice cards that guests didnt know were going to be read aloud, and played the music we requested. We are from California and so were 99.9% of our guests. They had a great time dancing to the music we grew up with, and being in the wonderful surroundings of Hawaii. I searched quite a bit for DJs before settling on Dynamic Sounds. There were a few that were cheaper, but upon reading their bad yelp reviews, I decided to go with David and Lupe. Now I wish I went with them from the beginning, so I didnt have to waste time with other DJ companies. Dynamic sounds is aaaamazing!!! I actually chose them because they did my sister's wedding several years ago and we were very impressed with them. They were very professional, warm, and focused on making our wedding whatever we desired it to be (which was fun, memorable, and unique). They even looked back at what activities they did at my sister's wedding, so as not to duplicate the same games, etc. We really appreciated that. Lupe met with us several times to go over the details of our wedding. She also really kept us on track throughout our planning. I do not know what we would've done without her. Did I also mention that their DJ and wedding coordination services are very affordable?! On our wedding day, we were running behind to the venue, so set up was chaotic and the items we were supposed to bring were all over the place. Lupe and the Dynamic Sounds team rolled with it and improvised time after time, and they didn't let us know until after the event about the hiccups that occurred. My husband's review was filtered (not sure why) so here it is...again: My wife and I just got married this past weekend. Words cannot express how happy we are with the quality of work and professionalism of Dave, Lupe and their team at Dynamic Sounds. We originally planned on using them for just our DJ services (for our music) and then found out that they offered two additional services: Dave is a professional emcee and Lupe offers reception timeline planning. We spoke with them and fell in love with what they had to offer, their extreme friendliness and the peace we felt speaking with them. Over the last 6 months or so, we worked with Lupe on our reception timeline, planning the entire program. We had NO idea what type of work it takes to make sure your reception goes smoothly and in a timely fashion. Lupe was the best thing and made us feel so relaxed with the situation! We love Lupe so much! Dave's work came on our wedding day... and we cannot tell you enough how much we are thrilled we decided to use him as our emcee. He was so professional, funny, and kept our guest laughing (but without risque jokes or having to bash people like other emcees do) and kept our program running so smoothly. Of course their DJs rocked too! We had so many people compliment us on our emcee and asked who's friend he was (since most people use a friend or family member). We said Dave is our friend, but also professionally is an emcee and public speaker. The words for our day: simple, comfortable, free-flowing, stress-free. I came up with those words during my initial consultation with David. Worked out well! One of our wedding guests observed that our wedding was one of the most relaxed ones she had been to. Great! A good friend recommended Dynamic Sounds who also emceed and deejayed her wedding years ago. I saw one of their DJs Gary at her birthday party - he ended up emceeing and deejaying our wedding. After doing our homework (worksheets/questionnaires to help with planning), husband and I met with Lupe to discuss the reception timeline about a month before the big day. Lupe worked really well with our wedding coordinator to finalize the timeline. Very happy with how the evening went. I would highly recommend Dynamic Sounds. My words of advice is to feel free to be very directive - for example if you want the deejaying and emceeing to be more in the background or simple, or if you definitely do not want certain songs to be played, or if you want a certain balance of slow-dance and faster-dance songs. We had a destination wedding in Hawaii and spent a lot of time researching and interviewing DJs. David and his Team were very professional, very organized, not pushy, well priced, genuine, flexible, basically everything we were looking for. I know his website doesn't look like much (reason why we didn't consider them at first), but look past that and give them a call.
