I loved what people had to say about him but it was really the video on his website that convinced me to set up a call with him. Hearing Shaun talk about where he grew up, how he ended up in DC and how he runs his business seemed almost too good to be true. But he's the real deal. Shaun wants to help you find your perfect place more than he wants to just sell you a house. Since I was doing this completely on my own it was important to me that I felt comfortable with my realtor. And while I took friends on a couple showings, in the end it was Shaun that helped me figure out which place was right for me. He would gently point out things that maybe I didn't notice or tell me when something wasn't as big of a deal as I thought. We could not have asked for a better teacher than Dawn for our first home buying experience. Later, we finally were ready to move up to a bigger home and Dawn again came through for us. We found a house we liked and asked Dawn to help us buy it. Offers were required quickly and Dawn immediately found us a mortgage specialist who could get us a pre-approval letter for the offer. We had a weekend and Dawn was able to put together the winning offer on the house that weekend. After we moved, it was time to sell our old townhouse and we were blown away with Dawn's expertise in selling. We hadn't updated the house at all and we were behind on maintenance, but Dawn helped us put together a plan to get the best price for our house. She created a list of improvements we could do that were cost effective; picking out all the furnishing and fixtures to maximize our selling price. She found a general contractor to do all the updates and kept us abreast of their progress. She also guided us through Compass Concierge so we didn't have to pay immediately for any of the improvements. After construction was done, she helped us find cleaners to clean the house and a staging company to stage the house. The house was completely unrecognizable; it looked like something out of HGTV. We sold within a weekend, 25K over our asking price. We were so pleased that we also recommended her to my parents to sell my grandfather's house. We rented a unit in Parkfairfax managed by this property management company and their "property…read moremanagement" was a disaster. I experienced constant flooding and sewage leaking from the kitchen sinks (yep, 2 sinks), giant sized insects invading our space, decaying floor boards from water damage, 3 years of uninterrupted mold and mildew, the need for a dehumidifier requiring 4 buckets of water to be dumped daily, and the last stray was a bathroom ceiling leaks flooding the unit requiring a 1 month stay in the hotel paid for by my insurance and I still had to pay the rent for my unit. During those 3 years, I suffered terribly from respiratory problems for the first time in my life. No empathy shown by the leasing agent or landlord for the major and myriad inconveniences. Upon returning to the unit in addition to the floor repairs they used substandard contractors to paint the walls. During my stay at the hotel (on my insurance's dime, mind you despite paying the full month's rent DURING it's renovation) I was not notified that the walls would be painted until AFTER the work was done, nor was my artwork removed from the walls prior to painting. The substandard painters merely painted around my artwork. Essentially their substandard painting contractors sealed the damage free adhesive to the walls with the paint making the artwork impossible to remove without damaging the wall. Moreover, the substandard contractors also painted over the back door sealing it shut. Upon move-out, the property management company wanted to penalize me for the damage caused by their own substandard painters shoddy work, since there're still holding on to my security deposit. Avoid renting through this "property management" company at all costs
