Went in looking for attire to attend a funeral and was greeted by Annette with a friendly and positive attitude. Annette was patient with me as I tend to take a while in making decisions but she was able to find me the perfect suit and shirt that I was looking for. The store recently changed over most all the staff and it was obvious that things have definitely changed for the better. First, full disclosure--I know nothing about clothing, other than it's what I put on every day and that's a very good thing, especially when I go outside the house! But I was fortunate to have a dear friend who really knows her stuff and the folks at DXL. Walking into the store was nothing special at first glance. We were greeted immediately by Jennifer, the Assistant Store Manager. This young lady knows her stuff. I was in the market for a suit, shirts, casual pants and a belt. We moved over into the suit area; Jennifer and my friend set to work. Like many men of my generation (early Baby Boomers), my esthetic taste is wanting, to say the least. But Jennifer had focused in on a couple of coats and I tried them on. Not perfect fits, so she called Irwin, the tailor. This gentleman took a look and shook his head--it just wasn't me. He poked around in the racks for a minute and came up with another choice. It was a perfect fit (this was without measuring me, it was all by eye)--"elegant," Irwin said. I must say, I agreed. And it was half price! The pants needed tailoring and Irwin started naming the things he was going to do to make them not only fit better but be more comfortable as well. This gentleman is a craftsman; they are few and far between nowadays. Meanwhile, my friend and Jennifer were busy finding the other things on my list. In and out of the dressing room--this one too large, that one too small. But finally everything was collected and tried on. Hey--this is hard work!!! All in all, this was an excellent experience; and I hate to shop for clothes (and most other things, actually). But thanks to my friend, Jennifer and Irwin, an hour and a half flew by without me noticing it. A stroll around the store revealed a large inventory and in sizes that would be difficult to find elsewhere. The quality of everything I saw was excellent and even though it's over 60 miles from my home in Kerrville, it's was well worth the trip. If, like me, you're a portly (don't you just love that word?) gentleman, DXL is the place to go. I found quality, kindness, attention to detail, and putting the customer first. And friends, it just doesn't get any better than that! read more

Danny helped me out. Told him I needed a better-fitting shirt than what I had on to wear right away. Told him my size and the brands I prefer (I'm a frequent customer of this chain, if not necessarily this store) and he took me right to that section. After trying on a couple of shirts, I went to buy them and he was kind enough to have their man iron the shirt I needed to wear at no charge. Great customer service, Danny! read more

They do have a good selection of big and tall clothes. That gets them the extra star to be fair. I was initially greeted and asked if I needed anything, I told them I was just looking. I found what I was looking for, relaxed jeans, and started looking for my size, which can be somewhat of a challenge, since sizes range from 40 to 60 inch waists and 28 to I don't even know how tall inseams. I didn't find the size I needed on display by noticed a case below and started looking there. It was obvious at this point I was looking for a specific size but no one came to help me. There were a couple of customers in the store, but it seemed like staff were available, just disinterested. I finally found some jeans to try on but had to find someone to unlock the dressing room. I never saw that guy again. One pair fit well but the other pair was too long even though they were the same length. I went back out to try again to scavenge the lower cabinet, I thought I found some shorter jeans, but when I returned to the dressing room I realized I still had the original size. Frustrated, I decided I spent too much time there already and didn't want to look again. As I left, I noticed no one at the register. This is a perfect example of a waste of an hour shopping in a store. I doubt they will be open much longer. I'll never go back there and doubt I'll look at their online store either. I'll check out Amazon. However, like I said 1 extra star over the minimum for a wide selection of sizes and clothes. If you need a 6x Dallas Cowboys shirt, they have them. read more

I am from Florida and I shop in this store all the time. I went to this location while on vacation and was very disappointed in the service. None of the 3 employees greated me at the door, asked if they could help locating something. I got a few outfits on my own had them unlock the door had to go back and forth getting different sizes on my own. Not for sure but my home store went above and beyond with service great at the door, help u find what your looking for , ask u your name, right it on your dressing room door get a new size if u need it on check out come around the desk and hand you your purchase and give you a bottle water on your way out. Sales associates are shady. When there is a sale being advertised and it clearly says online and in store, they purposely don't tell you about it in store. Have to go back in for the refund, but this should have been mentioned at the sales register. Customer service should trump trying to make a buck. read more

Wow! This was the biggest store for big & tall men that I've ever shopped. Back home in Maryland, a local Casual Male XL had closed since a DXL had opened a couple of miles down the road. However, I hadn't been to the new store since I have not been impressed with Casual Male. Well, I flew down to San Antonio, my hometown, for a memorial service. One night, I was bored and decided to check out this DXL location. Man, I was impressed with the wide selection of clothing! However, I was a good boy. I waited 2 days later for my fiance to come in the store with me. Well, I ended up spending over $300. And, that was okay because I had some nice clothes! I really loved this store! So, now I'm excited about the new DXL near my home. I just hope that I'll be as impressed as I was with this location. read more

The manager is a F*CKING A**HOLE. mid trying to help me find a shirt he calls all the sales people into a huddle and just b*tches and berates about this and that while I the customer is waiting. My first impression of this store was both horrible and good, one right after the other. My first, first impression came when I stood at the counter for nearly 5 minutes without even being acknowledged. I needed to return a few shirts (I usually go to the Huebner location, but it closed down forcing me to venture to this store). There seemed to be only 1 employee working and she was helping a man at a computer nearby. It wasn't until about minute 12 that she stepped away from that customer to ask what I needed. When I explained I needed to make a return/exchange and that I knew I'd need to order the new shirts from their online system (repeat buyer of undershirts for my husband and he only likes the specialty ones they don't carry on the rack!) she went into action. I actually felt a little sorry for her because she was trying to juggle both me and the other customer at the same time. She filled out the exchange request, refunded my money and made the subsequent online order fairly quickly. It's what she did next that impressed me and made me change my review from 2 to 3 stars. When she saw that I had originally bought the shirts on sell and that the new total was nearly $30 more than I originally paid, she got on the phone to corporate to have a price adjustment (weird she had to call and couldn't do it in store). Unfortunately corporate had already left for the day so she said that she'd call first thing tomorrow to have the price corrected. She did just that and my shirts arrived about 5 days later, as expected. If you're needing big and tall clothing, this store has a great selection, but they could use some additional associates to help customers, especially during the holiday season! If you go, you'll likely find something you like, but just be prepared to wait at the checkout...and pray you don't need assistance while shopping. read more

I needed a pair of casual dress shoes for my son. I went to look online and couldn't find what I needed at the store near me (this one). I spoke with Joanne through live chat and she was extremely helpful. I told her what I was looking for, she called the store and told me that they would hold 3 pairs for my son and I to come in and look at. We got to the store, was approached by a salesman who knew exactly I was there for. The staff was very nice and helpful. Their patience made an already stressful day less stressful. read more

Met my, I don't like to shop, hubby here to get some new clothes before he left on a trip. I arrived early and the staff quickly helped me select things for him to try on before he arrived. My reluctant shopper tried on what we had chosen, picked a couple of good quality jeans, shorts and pants. Asked for a few other sizes in something else, the staff was right there the whole time offering to get things for us. In the end, the experience was great for my husband and me. Shopping was quick, plenty of choices, if a size wasn't on the floor, they immediately checked in back to bring the right ones, and finally check out was quick, making sure I could use any discounts available. I am going back today to pick up a sport coat I got him to "just try on" and I'll use the coupons/discount we earned from our previous purchase. Christmas present checked off.
