Old Huants and New Cheers: An Authentic Dive with Heart in Vacaville!…read more I don't get to Vacaville very often, but when I do, I always enjoy stopping by TJ's Tavern. Stepping into TJ's Tavern feels like catching up with an old friend after years apart--familiar, comforting, and just the right amount of nostalgia. The drinks are straightforward and hit the spot, served up by solid bartenders. The music is often a mix of classics and some new surprises, which is just right. What makes TJ's truly stand out is the undeniable spirit in the place. There's a sense of resilience and growth here, like watching something meaningful continue to hold its own. On my most recent visit, I was happy to see how this place is not just holding its own but thriving. If you're passing through Vacaville and crave a spot with character, history, and a whole lot of heart, TJ's Tavern is well worth the visit. Here's to good times past, present, and those still to come. Cheers

We were traveling down Midway Road when we happened upon this place. I'd been here many years ago…read more I was happy to find it again! What we encountered inside was less than stellar. The place was clean, however the lady bartender obviously didn't enjoy her job or wish to be working on a Saturday. Not one smile or a bit of kindness. It seemed like we were a burden to her. I asked her where the ladies room was. No answer. That's fine. I'll find it in my own... In this day and age where jobs are hard to come by, you'd think she'd have put a bit more effort into hers. Oh well.

This particular night we stopped in to get a drink really quick and they just happened to have a band playing. The wait to get a drink was pretty slow. Even the wait staff were having to wait a long time to serve patrons. Luckily, I was able to bypass the waitstaff (who I originally gave my order to) and just get my drink directly from the bartender. She was a very sweet woman named Aaliyah and she made a mean Old Fashioned, it even had the fancy square cube in it. She was such a sweetheart and I'd love to go back and order another one of these nights out.

The bar itself is extremely outdated and not well-maintained. It felt dirty and neglected throughout. There are two pool tables in the back, but they're old and in poor condition.
