Everyone there from the incoming receptionist to the helper getting us set up in the exam room to the Veterinarian were all professional and personally kind and considerate to our cat Wendy but to me as well. They all answered any and all questions I had and were very kind and considerate to Wendy while examining and treating her with her yearly vaccines. They gave her a good check over leaving my mind at ease knowing she was in good physical shape and answered any questions I had about her health and care. Dr. Gengler and her staff are simply the best! We have been going to DVH for years, and have always received excellent care for our six cats. I actually visit the vet three times a week, because one of our cats is "special needs" and needs regular subcutaneous fluids. Grendel was diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure in February, and was so sick we thought he only had days left. But thanks partly to the care he gets at DVH (and maybe partly to a miracle), he has regained all the weight he lost and seems just as robust, happy, and healthy as he was before. We are so glad! Anyway, despite being very busy--to say nothing of the added stress of being in the midst of a pandemic--the staff is always friendly and they always seem genuinely happy to see us. They always comment on what a great cat Grendel is, and he seems to like them, too. Our cats are our family, and nothing is more important to us than their wellbeing. I have been bringing my pets here for, I think 7-10 years, it gets a little hazy after 7. In this time, I've had several dogs, purebred and 4 rescues. As we all know, dogs don't live nearly long enough, and some, with health issues, are brief shining stars. 3 of my doggos were short, brilliant, love goblins, and I only took them to DVH. I cannot explain to you all of the reasons I bring my floofs here, but I can tell you that when I lived in west Seattle, and now in Everett, I still bring my monkey dogs to Duvall. Great team, fair pricing, and the care for the floofs, and their humans... All reasons I go so far for care. We've been looking for the perfect vet for many many years and now we've found her! I have never ever in my life seen any vet more dedicated to their job. I'm sure they're out there, I just haven't seen them. Dr. Gengler is a real human with a deep passion for veterinary work and caring for the animals brought into her clinic. We've taken out dogs here for the last 5 years and I cant imagine ever taking my dogs anywhere else. Exams are thorough and all my questions always get answered. This in itself is HUGE! Having a vet take time and feel like they're not rushing my time to get to the next room is a blessing. I always feel my pet is deeply cared for by all the docs here. She listens to our concerns and our dog loves her. The staff here is also amazing. They always take their time with us. I never feel rushed or like I'm just another number. Our bill has always been correct and they've really helped us navigate the pet insurance waters too. Saving us loads of money, but bigger than that getting our pet fully cared for. Regarding COVID practices...this clinic asks that you wait outside and do not leave during the appointment. I am not only happy about this but it keeps me and my pet safer. I don't have the vocabulary to express how amazing the people here are! There are just no words. A few weeks back I brought my Great Dane that was suffering from bloat on death's door to them as they were the closest place to my house! I was sobbing as I brought him up to the door and begging them to save him. The amazing people here not only took him, but started treatment immediately and also found me a place where I could go get surgery done to save his life. I've never had to leave a merchant a negative review before, but there's a first time for everything. We've taken our Rhodesian Ridgeback to Dr. Michelle Gengler at Duvall Veterinary Hospital for regular wellness visits for about 5 years. The staff was always nice and, despite the excessive upselling and add-ons (which I guess is pretty typical at the vet?), everything seemed okay for the first few uneventful years. However, the real test of a business is how it treats its customers when a problem arises, and it is in this area that Duvall Veterinary Hospital fails miserably. During my past few visits to DVH, I experienced a few miscommunication issues (elective medication options, scheduling mishaps, etc.) which most merchants would simply apologize for and get corrected. Call me old fashioned, call me a "Vet Hospital Karen," but I sort of need the folks I do business with to be able to admit when they're wrong. But, you will never hear the words "we're sorry" or "we made a mistake" at this place of business. Dr. Michelle Gengler is protective of her staff to a fault and is utterly incapable and/or unwilling to admit any wrongdoing whatsoever -- even when a simple "sorry" or "hey, maybe we misspoke" would resolve the situation. My pup has been happy and healthy his entire life, but I would dread having to deal with DVH if there was ever a real emergency. Being a full-time kid & pup pop is stressful enough without having to deal with unreasonable people. My advice to folks looking for a vet: Find one that treats people as well as they treat your dog. Response to merchant's 2/11 reply below: Duvall Veterinary Hospital, I *never once* "yelled" at your staff. I don't yell. But I get it -- People who are incapable of hearing a complaint or criticism often perceive it as "yelling" even when no yelling is actually occurring. You should listen to your customers instead of reacting to them and try to understand their point of view. This entire thing could've been avoided with a simple apology. read more

Becoming less impressed after the last few visits. There are rotating fill in vets every time I have visited for the last year or so. And there seems to be a lack of communication. That's to say insufficient notes put in the records for follow up visits. After an annual check up in January, one of my cats needed a dental cleaning. The vet also said they would express her anal glands while she was under anesthesia. So, took her in for the dental and expected the anal glands to be done too. Didn't happen. Nothing in the records that said it should be done. So when I picked her up, I asked if they had expressed her anal glands. Blank look, no they had not. So they went back in and did it. Painful procedure that did not have to be so. If this was a human doctor, there could have been legal consequences. read more

These folks were incredibly helpful, kind, and non-judgmental when I was freaked out about some insecticide my cat had accidentally gotten into. I have seen them before for other things -- everything from a new kitten check-up to the euthanasia of a 19 year-old cat -- and Dr. Gengler and her staff have always been very loving and helpful with my animals and very patient with me. I've been taking my cats to the Duvall Veterinary Hospital for as long as I've lived in Duvall... almost 25 years. In that time my husband and I have had twelve cats, all of whom we took to DVH. Six of the twelve have now passed on. But in any case, I think my husband and I feel about our cats the way other people feel about their children, so the question of who to entrust with their care isn't one we take lightly. I liked Dr. Sievers back when he had the practice, and if possible I like Dr. Gengler even more. I know she loves animals and truly cares about our cats' wellbeing. We've had some close calls and some scary times. I think she felt nearly as heartbroken as we did, when it seemed that our cat Grendel was dying earlier this year, and she was nearly as thrilled as we were when his condition took a miraculous turn for the better. We know that Dr. G and the staff at DVH will always do their best for our beloved cat family, and I think our cats know it, too (or maybe they're only in it for the treats). :-) We always tell Grendel when it's time for his appointment, "you get to go see your friends!" I took my sweet pup here to get him some relief for skin issues that he was having. When I was quoted a price that I wouldn't be able to pay, I was told that they would take my dog to the humane society on my behalf and find someone who could afford their outrageous costs. There was no attempts to work out a payment plan, or to work with my pup to get him any sort of relief without full payment. This left me feeling terrible and crying in the parking lot. Terrible office, heartless staff and more concerned about lining their pockets than the health and well being of your pet. Stay away from this office at all costs. read more

I too would give fewer than one star, were that possible. We boarded our elderly, but otherwise healthy cat here for a vacation. Upon our return, the cat was so sick that after hanging on for a few days, we had to have him put to sleep. A few months down the road, another trip came along, so we boarded our other cat. Upon our return, despite having been healthy upon our departure, he too was now so sick that we had to seek emergency treatment, elsewhere. What are the odds that this happens twice in six months? Once, sure, I get that could happen. Twice? Not likely. Reaction from the staff was pretty much as Gladys K. described, happy to charge us more and more for ongoing diagnosis and treatment, but lots of denials that it could have anything to do with them. Great customer service. My cat caught a bat inside our house and tried to eat it before it flew away. The hospital was wonderful in dealing with the law because we were not sure if this rescue cat was up to date on vaccines. They rushed us in with Bat Cat, our other cat, and dog because all animals were unattended in the room with the bat before we discovered it in the house. I literally called at least 30 vet hospitals (Kent to Marysville with a concentration focus Redmond area) to get an appointment, check pricing, and their policy of whether they would mandate and enforce euthanizing my cat. Duvall Vet hospital said just come and they would get us in ASAP. They did not enforce euthanizing Bat Cat. Instead they had me agree to a 6month quarantine at home and the other animals to 45 days. 6months is a long time and luckily we have a guest cottage to make it work. But at least I don't have to pay the county pound or vet hospital a boarding fee for 6months. Pricing was great and competitive on the Bat emergency visit, however last time I went for a Hot Spot on my Dog they wanted to charge $54 for an exam fee plus what ever else. Mind you I was just there a few weeks prior with the Bat episode and the dog was fully examined and given full vaccines. I feel that the recent Hot Spot visit should have been only a $30-40 visit as a follow up charge or something else since I already paid for a new patient exam fee when I brought the dog in for the Bat episode. And a hot spot doesn't need an exam I just needed a script for something stronger than hydrocortisone to stop my dog from scratching at it. So I left and did not do the Hot Spot exam because it was small and I know what I need and what caused it. If vet hospitals changed less more people would take there pets to the vet more often and they would actually make more money. It's been three days since the attempted Hot Spot exam and my dog is doing better. I just googled how to fix it and what to buy. read more

Dr. Gengler is top notch! If you love you fur kids like a human child and you are in the greater Seattle Metro area, you owe it to your fur kids to make the trip to Duvall. You will be hard pressed to find a Vet as knowledgeable and caring as Dr. G. When we adopted our first fur kid 10 years ago, Dr. Gengler was our first Vet and quickly became our favorite. Had we not moved 3,000 miles away..... Dr. G would still be our Vet! Ten years later, despite moving across the country, Dr G still checks in to see how the kids are doing and is kind enough to answer any questions or comfort any reservations I may have with our new local Vet. This practice has really gone down hill. I grew up bringing my animals to Dr Severs my entire life and was so disappointed when we returned from a 2 year absence and had such a horrible experience. I have actually never met dr Gangler. I have left messages at the office for her but she can't be bothered to call a 30 year patron back. My husband brought our little Cece in for her rabies shot and were helped by someone rotating in for Dr Gangler. She made it very clear that since our dog is not a purebred we were horrible people for not already having her fixed. I have owned dogs my entire life and NEVER had puppies and don't plan on it. In fact, we WERE planning on scheduling Cece to be neutered now that we were back home with a vet we thought we could trust. This gal made us feel like the scum of the earth and made it very clear that it was because our dog is not a purebred. My husband said he thought this must be what women feel like being forced into or out of an abortion. He was so uncomfortable and the gal wouldn't let it go. She sent a stack of literature home about how we were going to cause Cece to develop breast cancer. I figured someone who took over a well respected, small town veterinary practice would want to know how inappropriately her employees were treating long time customers, but I was wrong. I went in person twice to the clinic and was told dr Gangler would call me back. No calls. I did get a call to schedule Cece's booster shot last week! I told the gal that I was looking for another vet since dr Gangler couldn't be bothered to even call me. The girl assured me that dr Gangler "welcomes feedback and tried to call but got no answer." When I gave her my phone number (which I wrote down for her when I was there in person) we realized she had called my husbands phone instead and not bothered to leave a message. I once again left my number and still no call. After sharing this experience with some of my neighbors, I found out this is not an isolated experience but actually the new norm. Bottom lime: this lady doesn't car a hoot about the pets or their owners. She has taken over a wonderful small town practice and filled it with self-righteous, money-hungry fill-in bsince she can't be bothered to be there more than 2 days a week. ***update: your response sounds really nice but even the gal who called me about cece's appointment admitted that the vet had called my husband's number, and not the one I left. After giving her my number again (which is odd because she called my phone to schedule the appointment in the first place) I never received a call. You claim to have stepped up your service but this is a ridiculous statement. We received poor customer service and were judged and treated like bad pet owners. Your response is an empty attempt to try and smooth over a well-earned bad review. All it would have took was a phone call and you wouldn't have needed to bother. read more

Talk about full service vet...Dr Gengler goes way above and beyond. One pup with a troubled ACL and one who is a sock eater. Always calm, rational and helpful. She is methodical in her questioning and so kind with the animals. She knows these moments are scary to a fur parent but is always there to answer a call or text to support our family. Dr Michelle Gengler has been taking excellent care of our two pets, Millie and Mr Elliot (dog and cat respectively) since we moved to Duvall 4+ years ago. Since Millie is an older Labrador she's had a lot of health issues and Dr G has saved her life surgically several times now - doesn't charge a fortune either. There is some competition among vets in this area, but we wouldn't trust anyone else with our furry family!! read more

IF YOU HAVE A SHY PUPPY, DO NOT COME TO THIS PLACE! UNPROFESSIONAL MANAGEMENT AND RUDE!!! Some of the staff members are nice, however, the management is extremely rude and unprofessional. We brought our puppy in for vaccinations and instead got an earful from the MD about how our 5LB 12 week old poodle puppy had fear aggression and we should consider the puppy be returned to the breeder??? They told us to take some time to think about keeping it so at that point we were shocked. The kids were crying and it was a total mess! Our pup is very sweet and has a good disposition just like any other puppy, it is scared at the first vet visit. They ended up charging us for a "comprehensive examination" in which we had not asked for, we were there for a vaccination and thought we were paying for a fecal lab. The office manager called us the next day and was extremely stand offish and very rude. How petty to keep our $60 when we were willing to pay $650 for our puppy package. I WOULD STEER CLEAR OF THIS PLACE! Take your puppy where they are kind and know about socializing pups! A horrible experience and our family is still upset a day later after this fiasco! read more

I love this veterinary practice. They always have time when I need to have one of my pets examined. Their staff is truly genuine and concerned for the animals that come in. They have helped my dog through some very serious illness and I can't thank them enough for their caring, concern and persistence. I moved to Duvall a few years ago and their prices are certainly much better than what I had been paying for veterinary services. I see a complaint review about the cost of vaccinations. They are so much cheaper than any other place I've taken my animals. I'm surprised that someone complained. I would also recommend if anyone has a problem about being charged "unknowingly" maybe they should ask about the price/cost upfront, then there 's no question. I think everyone should watch out for their own bottom line, instead of expecting someone else to watch it for them. I've had nothing but good experiences with this veterinary practice. read more

I really hate to do this because I'm usually a pretty good client for any business to have. I'm on time always, kind, and pay my bill when I leave. But this visit with them is the final straw. I have two dogs and a cat. However, I literally get mad about it even before I take one of my pets to them. Every single vet visit there is an issue - mainly being late but there are other issues don't get me wrong. Although I have to endure them screwing up scheduling, the pain of the amount charged, and the constant "We think you need a specialist", you get no apologies for when they cancel your appointment and don't even notify you until you have already been there for 15 minutes. Believe me, I have to block out 2 or more hours for a simple vet visit and I live 5 minutes from the office. For example, as I sit in the car right now waiting for a 4:45 appointment and it's now 5:15, I just get mad and more mad about it. I understand that things happen but they saying SOMEONE cancelled my appointment and I would have to wait is the worst. This time they literally held me at the office for more than an hour only to say "Can you bring her back in the morning and drop her off!" I've had it. Moving on. I can't take it anymore. Apparently they don't think my time is as important as theirs. read more

If I could give them less than one star, I would. A few years ago, I brought in my sick, elderly dog. They said her glands needed expressing and something went wrong but they never admitted it. She ended up with pancreatitis. The next vet we brought her to said the expression caused the infection that came on after that visit. Instead of apologizing and admitting their error in expressing her glands, their reaction was pretty much, "Well, sometimes things go downhill." Thanks for your compassion. Fortunately, our dog lived another three years after that fiasco. Whenever I have to drive by their building, I flip 'em off. I know -- not mature, but if feels good. read more

They have certainly earned the 5 stars in this review! I reviewed this place last summer but since then I have had numerous incidents with Duvall Vet Hospital that have drawn me to the conclusion that this place really has the BEST service on the Eastside for pets! I have two dogs and a cat and Dr. Sievers is wonderful to them all. TWICE in the last 6 months I had vet emergencys that happened late in the day close to Duvall Vet's regular closing time. Both times when I called I was told I could come right in, which was a tremendous relief to me to be able to take my dog to his regular vet vs. having to go to an emergency one. I can't say how much I appreciate that Dr. Sievers and his staff are willing to stay later just to help out their patients. My dogs are both challenging but Dr. Sievers and staff have sooo much patience for them! My male dog can get grumpy and snippy, my female dog has mega anxiety issues. No matter what my dogs are doing, the staff here never lose their temper or seem frustrated with my babies. Embarrassingly, my female cocker spaniel, Sophie, has a terrible habit of making messes here because of her anxiety. Duvall Vet Hospital's staff is always so gracious and kind about Sophie's messes, because they know it's just her anxiety issues. The rates here are VERY reasonable! My one dog is older and requires daily medications and even the pills he needs are priced fairly. I can't believe this place is so affordable and has such wonderful staff! This review has been long overdue. Back in October 2017, my dog was misdiagnosed with Osteosarcoma cancer by a clinic I've utilized and relied on for years. I won't mention their name, since I've really only had one bad experience out of 20. In any case, I spoke with Dr. Gengler about this diagnosis. She recommended I come in to do further testing, as she had doubts about the outcome with the previous diagnostics. She was my second opinion, and she blew me away with her help. Turns out he did not have Osteosarcoma, but definitely a sarcoma. This drastically changes how treatment would go now that we knew it wasn't bone cancer, but mouth cancer. Without her second opinion, genuine compassionate concern, and understanding of my desperate attempt at a real answer... I may have gone about treatment all wrong. At some point it would have been caught, but her intuition and passion for animals caught this immediately. I live in Burien, and traveled to Duvall for her help, and I would have gladly paid triple the amount of gas to have her expertise. read more

My dog is getting older (14!!) and I wanted a vet who would pay specific attention to her senior care. I was blown away by my experience at Duvall Veterinary Hospital. I couldn't be happier with my decision to switch to a new veterinarian. I wish I had done it years ago! Did I mention that I travel 40 minutes to DVH? This is why...Not only were the front desk and techs friendly, but Dr. Gengler was attentive and patient by addressing a list of issues from small to large that I was concerned about. I also have Trupanion medical insurance and it was refreshing that Dr. Gengler (and staff) were knowledgable and supportive in making sure the insurance was fully utilized. Dr. G is very detail-oriented, involves me in all tests and treatment decisions. She even explains the biology behind the treatment. One last important detail that I was impressed by was the variety of supplements and medications that are available. It's frustrating when a hospital only carries one type of a common medication, but DVH seemed to have a variety of options that let me choose between price, brand, and what was best for my pet. I can't say enough great things about Dr. Gengler and the entire staff at DVH. I have been taking my animals there for years and they are like family. This particular instance in care for my dog Skip included some inexplicable lethargy that based upon a few clues had me realize that he had a raging ear infection, likely causing him terrible pain. Dr. Gengler was not in the office, but we chatted all weekend figuring out what we could do for Skip until he could be seen at the office. Fortunately, I had some ear meds and pain reliever that tied us over for the weekend. Once we were able to see Dr. Gengler, we realized he needed additional care and meds which he received. He walked out of there a happy pup :-) Again, Dr. G and DVH went above and beyond staying in contact with me over the weekend, after hours, and then some.
