I took several family members out for breakfast on Saturday. We waited quite sometime to get our menu's and have our order taken. It was over 30 minutes before our food arrived. We ordered Mackey Mouse pancakes for the kids. Needless to say it was just a regular large, dry pancake, missing the whip cream. The skillet that ordered had absolutely no flavor and their hashbrowns were tasteless as well. We had to ask for silverware and at no time did we get offered a refill on our coffee. Needless to say we will never go back. They really need to work on their service and improve the food! read more

Gave it a second chance after a negative experience a few years ago. Needless to say - second negative experience. Always want to be fair in a review, but this wasn't good - charged for items I didn't order (asked for water, charged for coffee), one person in my party asked if there was an item on the buffet and was told they could get it, then charged separate charges for two orders of that item. Hashbrowns seemed like frozen shredded type, etc. Basically spent dinner prices on 3 breakfasts and 3 coffees (no water or coffee refills, no cream). You could tell they have regulars and those who enjoy the country atmosphere but we won't again. One bit of advice: Check your bill and ask if you will be charged extra for anything. read more

I went for breakfast to get their morel mushroom onion, and Swiss cheese omelette because it looked so good in their Facebook page. don't be fooled by the photos they put on their page because what you get will look nothing like what you see on that page.. Not at all impressed with either the service or food. We went for breakfast while in the area for service on our motorhome. While it may have some good reviews, I can't really find a reason to recommend the restaurant other than the food coming out quickly. Honestly there are other places in the area with better quality food, service and a neater and cleaner appearance. read more

Got rained out at work so the whole crew stopped here for breakfast. Had about 9 guys and a girl with us. The waitress was quick to bring us menus coffee. Nice. She brought us all waters and took our orders. We were impressed by how fast we got our food and the massive quantity of it. It was hot and all our orders were correct. The waitress brought us homemade jams which were great. Everyone was satisfied and we said we would be back. We have, and the quality of food and great service hasn't changed. Getting some service work performed at Newmar. This was my breakfast choice for the entire work week. Great food, fabulous service-and the friendliest staff! I'm pretty sure that I was straight up judged as a fatty by the Amish. Even though when I sat down and inquired about the salad bar. We arrived around 10:30 and I was specifically told that the bar would turn over to a soup and salad bar at 11. What she failed to mention at that point was that you're charged for both the $8.95 breakfast buffet and the $7.99 salad bar. So basically we only had 30 minutes to eat and finish up. It wasn't until after I sat back down with my small plate of breakfast that the waitress came over and mentioned that if I wanted a salad after 11, then it would be the additional cost. I get it, at some point they probably experienced people coming in and setting up shop and staying for hours to consume two bottomless meals for one price, but that was obviously not the case here. Not only that, I felt mislead into getting the breakfast buffet knowing that what I wanted was a salad. Again, I get it and would've just sucked it up and finished up by 11, but the items that remained on the breakfast buffet were cold and dry. The biscuits were obviously premade and not even reheated. Although they were tasty, the potatoes and bacon were cold. They obviously weren't bothered with freshening the offerings because there were only a few occupied tables, and the others were obviously finishing up. Again, I get it, why add new stuff when they're closing the breakfast options in 30 minutes? I promise I would've been understanding of the that... In the end, Dad ended up speaking with the manager lady, explaining the facts of the matter. I rarely give one star, but this was literally the worst and only bad experience that I've ever had in Amish country. read more

Ordered two egg, meat and toast special, and added hash browns. Ordered bacon crispy and hash browns extra brown and all was SUPER and served hot. We stayed at an AirBnB a few minutes away and figured we'd give it a shot after all the great reviews. I seriously had to come back to the reviews and make sure I had went to the right place. This was far from even mediocre. We had the fish fry on a Friday night and it was a greasy slimy wet mess. Honestly I would have been happier with a Filet O Fish from McDonald's, no joke. I don't even know where to begin but bottom line, it's lousy food. This wasn't an Amish run restaurant like you'd find in Ohio's Amish country, this was your last resort neighborhood diner type of place. Great Dutch Amish food and Buffet. The menu is basically Amish home made foods. The restaurant is very clean and the buffet stocked well. I found all the choices I expect...and then some. This is located just half mile West of Amish Acres, a large local attraction. They probably get a lot of tourists. Terrible experience. Poor service, poor food. I had the Country Fried Steak special for 6.95. It came with mashed potato's, corn and lots of gravy. The country fried steak was ok, but gravy was terrible and the corn was canned...it tasted like what is called field corn....the type you feed the livestock. I have had canned corn before and this was the worst. The mashed potato's were ok. I would compare it to a college dorm meal of the 1960's or maybe hospital cafeteria food of years ago. The only positive is it was a large serving. Took about 30 minutes to get our meal. My wife had the turkey wrap which included tomato, lettuce, cucumber, cheese and dressing. The turkey was cheap, grocery store deli counter turkey sliced very thin...and maybe 2 pieces, the kind you buy for $4.00 a pound. The cheese was very bland, the wrap was stale. It was very small, unattractive, and had no taste. I would say the ingredients cost less than fifty cents. The sandwhich was $4.95 and included no sides. The waitress asked my wife if she wanted fries. My wife then asked if they were included with meal, then she asked if could substitute cole slaw, the waitress said yes. After we finished the meal, we waited and waited for a check which never came. We went to the cashiers counter, they have no specific cashier...the waitresses would come over to the counter and take your money when they had time. When they were running the register, meals were not being served, water glasses filed etc. She finally produced a bill..... My wife was charged $1.95 for the cole slaw which we were told was included with the meal. The girl at the cash register looked confused and kept looking at the register screen...after maybe two minutes, she finally called over a lady, perhaps the owner or manager, who finally removed the extra charge from our bill. Not a good experience, we will never go back. Oh...one good thing about my wifes meal, she said the cole slaw was good. read more

Don't do it, tourist trap! Nothing is homemade, HUGE disappointment. The salad bar was half empty and the soup was marginal at best. Asked what was made in the restaurant and our server said all was prepackaged. read more

I live about 10 miles from Nappanee and the Dutch Kitchen, I go there often with Amish friends. I have always gotten the buffett- Staff always very friendly - food ALWAYS great. I am told (by Amish) that the food is close to what is served at an Amish wedding. It is a cozy, busy non - chain mom and pop buffet. It is not a sit- down 5 start restaurant in a big city. If a tourist, a great place to eat where Amish work and eat. If a local - great food, fair prices, and best off - your moneys stays local. I've only been there twice, once for breakfast about two years ago and once for the lunch buffet just recently. Prices were fair, servers were very pleasant and the food was on par with other Amish style family restaurants I have visited. I will be making like trips to Nappanee to visit them more often in the future. read more

Ran by Amish, but they don't serve Amish menu. Very limited menu and even more limited buffet. Slow service and they gave my dad's meal to another table and the gentleman at that table started to taste the food and touch all the food and then realized it wasn't his food. We could see this happen and my mom even said to my dad "I think that might be you food." The waitress then brought it to my dad and my mom said he doesn't want that plate. The waitress (an elderly lady) was upset. My dad said we saw that it was given to the other table and she finally admitted it and took it back... My dad ordered another sandwich and by time it came (30 minutes later) my mom and I had finished our meal and we had to get going so we had them put his to go. We asked if his meal at least would be given to him or at discount and they said NO. They acted as if it was his fault. BEWARE!!! Very Poor. Never knew the Amish were such sneaky and rude people.
