Inside was a great chill vibe with relaxing music playing in the background and it's a fantastic place to get coffee, hang out or do some work. There are several coffee spots in the Riverside/Avondale area and Bold Bean is one of the best. If you're a coffee fan, Bold Bean is a must if you're in the Riverside area.

My first impression is that the parking lot is too small and does not have adequate parking for larger vehicles like a mini-van. Plus it is hard to navigate bc the drive-thru lane snakes through the parking lot and onto Roosevelt. I ended up parking in a shopping center across the street and observed others parking on the street and walking up also. Also, be careful walking in the parking lot as cars whip in from Roosevelt and you could get tattooed by a grill vent. Once inside the store, I found the bathroom and it was clean and serviced. I then got in line behind some guy in scrubs who was ordering for his whole office. To the stores credit when they noticed that the line was backing up, they opened a second register. There were probably 7-8 persons working there this AM but I have no idea what all of them were doing. I ordered a small (tall) black coffee but due to the noise in the shop, I had to repeat my order a couple of times. When I got my coffee, it was fresh and hot but the cup was wielding under the weight and temperature so that I had to transfer it to a metal cup in my car. Not a great visit but not a terrible visit, just typical Starbucks.

My wife also got an iced coffee drink. The man at the counter had an attitude with us the whole time, especially after my wife asked for an iced coffee rather than the hot coffee he served. He was huffing and slamming doors and dishes, and it was really unnerving. The most egregious part was the cost. For the above three items, this man actually charged $31. I didn't even bother to argue with him and just paid the tab. There's no way we weren't overcharged, but I'm equally certain he would have resisted any attempt to examine the bill or gotten angrier... over nothing. We didn't say anything or do anything to this man other than place the order and return the hot coffee, which was his mistake. The whole atmosphere was uncomfortable, and I will strongly recommend no one visit Old Cup cafe. You will be ripped off, or retaliated against, and you will not enjoy the experience. Places like this need to just go out of business, and I can't imagine they're long for this world with so many better and more affordable spots in Avondale. Head to Southern Grounds and avoid Old Cup at all costs.

You can enjoy free coffee and $5 BBQ. Donations go toward rent and any excess money is donated to a dog shelter. As of right now, three small dog shelters bring their dogs to the Saturday event: Kamp Kritter, Old Dog Rescue, Dachshund Adoption Rescue and Education. At first I was a little upset that there weren't more dogs to meet, but then I realized that must be a good thing because so many have been adopted in previous weekends!! All of the volunteers were very kind. Each dog had a volunteer that watched over them and introduced the dog. They were very organized in having waivers prepared for when we came in through the back. The little seating area out back was really nice with a very welcoming door to come into see the dogs that were staying out of the heat. That's also where you will find the free coffee and the place to make a donation. If you walk through the barber shop there is even more going on out front! Can't wait to go back!
