We love Dusal's for take out and delivery. The food here is always good. My boys love tortellini with vodka sauce and tortellini with alfredo sauce. We also get their pizza on a regular basis. As a long-time customer (10+ years), Dusal's is easily the best pizza along this stretch of 27 between Kendall Park and Franklin. It's our family's go-to when we want a real pie (pizza for non-locals), calzones, pasta, etc. They're fast and never get an order wrong. It's always busy at dinner time--a classic indicator of great food and quality service. Try the baked ziti pizza, or the spicy Brooklyn pie. They even have some fantastic salads. One of many NJ pizza we have in Kendall/Franklin Park area ( I don't count Domino's and Papa John's). Take out can be a long wait at times because locals really prefer this place over others. Their pizza is good but I know some place better. We still order there from time to time if we don't want to drive farther to the other place. Recommended. read more

Not the best pizza place in the area. Pizza is decent, but it's overpriced. A personal pizza with onions and peppers cost $12.30. Some of their slices are small flatbread slices, which aren't filling. The eggplant sub isn't bad, but it seemed microwaved. There wasn't a lot of chicken on the chicken parm sub for $8.50, and I didn't think it was great. read more

I discovered Dusal's in 2001 when we moved to Franklin Park.It's 2014 and we are still eating there. This is my favorite restaurant. We eat here at least once, sometimes twice a week The food is delicious and the owner's and wait staff are so friendly they make you feel at home. I love that they have blackboard specials that are different every week. I usually eat a lot of seafood and my wife likes chicken dishes. Check out their Zuppa De Pesce or Shrimp fra Diavlo, they are so tasty with just the right amount of seasonings I have never had a problem with anything I ever ordered at the restaurant or take out. 3 stars because the place is OK. I used to order from them more often many years ago and the food was always pretty good. Ordered pizza recently and again, it was good. Nothing that blew me out of the water but a place I'll continue to order from time to time. The place always seems packed in the latter part of the week and weekends so I guess they are doing something right. The staff at the counter is always extremely busy and while they aren't unfriendly, they just don't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling whenever I've picked up my orders. read more

Coming from Brooklyn and growing up in an Italian family whose father was a chef who owned an Italian restaurant, I am quite familiar with good Italian food. We only ate at Dusal's once. It was very crowded but the food was pretty good. The pasta looked and tasted fresh. Any other time was take out (or delivery) pizza. We always get a large pie. Again, coming from Brooklyn we know what a large pie is and size wise, what they say is large, is a medium at best in Brooklyn. That being said, it tasted pretty good but could use more cheese. Better than most in NJ. So aside from the price/size ratio as in all NJ pizzas, it was one of the better ones. Next time we are in Brooklyn I will get a large pie and bring them the box to show what a real large pie is. read more

Don't understand the appeal of this place. Maybe it's the fact that it's an Italian restaurant in it's own building and not in a strip mall. This place has disappointed a number of times, not just this last time. I don't know why we keep coming back, but every time we do we say, "Never again." We were seated right away and I immediately noticed a brown stain on our tablecloth like someone smeared a dessert. There were these little gnats all over the place and this is in November. After a couple of frosts, there aren't any bugs outdoors. Where are these gnats coming from? You know it's not from outside. Just gross. They were landing on our bread basket. The bread is this big, round pizza dough blob that they bake. The thing is like lead. There's so much great Italian bread around. Why would you serve this dense lump? When you look up at the ceiling there's this ridiculous thing hanging from the ceiling and it has boxed Barilla pastas on there. Why would you advertise the fact that you're using dry, boxed, mass-produced pasta? I don't know what this ceiling display is? It makes me laugh. It's like a surf board that they hung from the ceiling and they piled it up with store-bought Italian items from the grocery store. Back to the food: The salad was unwashed. It was literally gritty and sandy. I couldn't believe it. You cannot serve unwashed salad. The dipping oil was just olive oil with dried oregano in it. It wasn't very good. The service was OK, but the waitress was basically just taking your order and plopping your food down in front of you. They had these teenage busboys trolling the dining room constantly staring at you and your plate waiting to pounce on it. This place would benefit from a real manager who understands how to run a dining room. The utensils were dirty and very old. It seemed like they've never changed their utensils. They are all worn, scratched, and bent. The food was OK in general. Mine was meat lasagna and hers was eggplant rollatini. The red sauce was good. The broccoli rabe was horrible. It was old and brown like it was sitting around and they mixed fresh broccoli rabe in with it. When I went to the register to pay, the guy was on the phone the whole time and never said a word to me. He just kept taking orders on the phone. This place is inconsistent and you get that from reading all of the reviews. I don't think we'll be back. There are too many other good Italian restaurants around. Oh yeah, I forgot: Please stop the endless loop of Andrea Bocelli music. When I called the restaurant they said they would deliver the coke but it's been 40+ minutes and still nothing. Food is good. Service is good - have never had a long wait for dinner here, even when they are busy. You won't find any gourmet cuisine here, but you will find all of your basic Italian favorites here, delivered to your table promptly. BYOB, which is fine with us. You can end your meal with a terrific cappuccino, cannoli, or tiramisu...if you have any room left. Most of all, it is just a comfortable neighborhood place with no pretensions. I have come here many times for both eat in and take out. The waitresses and staff behind the counter get to know you and are very efficient. The restaurant accommodates a more relaxed lunch setting and a fancier, more elaborate dinner setting. They get particularly busy on nights, and have acquired a large following of regulars. The food is fantastic and they will adapt their entrees to specific allergens or specifications. I have latley been ordering more often the dinner salad or shrimp scampi While the food tastes great, thevperson in charge taking the orders or preparing or takng payment when pickup, thet persons attitude in all honesty is very hard to stomach. Not sure if its a language problem or a problem of someone just getting here from a foreign country not knowing how to present themselves when dealing with others on a personal level or public service, but the tone demeanor and attitude is so off putting, regardleas of how nice one is to yhat person, it kills the appetite. Very mean, arrogant, loud, condescending, and pushy. It's happen so often I wonder if its worth it to continue patonizing the establishment. For me it sucks when at times I find a place with what seems to be great food but absolutely is bad attitude when firat experienced. Why is good customer service such and absent item on the menus of so many food establishements today? I was contemplating possibly bringing my lady there for a dinner, and maybe telling others, but when I asked about the ambiance, the menu, answers were so curt with no effort to sell. I felt wrong for asking when the dude up front was fibished. I guess some placed can afford bad attitude in customer service. For me I am old school, I cant afford to eat at the cost of my dignity and self respect, unless I am really hungry, and really dont have a better choice. Dusal's make note, all that stands between you and someone else taking your business is a better choice. Is it really that hard to make a good salad, a good pasta dish, a good sanwdwich, and a good pizza? I would drive 20 miles for a decent dish with great atitude instwad of walking around the corner for a greay dish with bad attitude. Will I ever eat dinner at that place, nope! Had gotten takeout a few times from Dusal's and the food was fine. Ate in for the first time and the service during the meal was lousy. Then at the end of the meal my wife was putting a coat on my 2 year old son in the aisle and one of the staff stood behind them with an incredibly rude look on their face (if they couldn't have waited the 10 seconds they could have easily have walked around them). I really had bad experience with the take out I had yesterday @ Dusal's in Kendall Park. Eggplant parmigiana sandwich was total opposite of what one would expect. Eggplant is usually breaded (with bread crumbs) and fried then put on Sandwich with enough cheese and sauce. Instead I had raw eggplants that were rotten (as they were smelling bad when I open the sandwich) with light cheese and sauce. Never going to this place again or any of its other stores. read more

This is NOT my go-to Italian place, but went here out of convenience. I was quickly reminded of why my family and I DO NOT eat here. Very pricey, first of all. Fettuccine Alfredo was very oily and chicken was like rubber. Pasta Ala vodka was, eh, definitely lacked flavor. Salads were bland. Pasta fagioli soup was bland, wrong pasta used and overall soup looked grey. Don't really see how this place calls themselves Italian. FAR from it. We live right by this place, so we tend to order from them when we want pizza because it's so convenient. The pizza is decent, and we enjoy it. I've only eaten in the restaurant itself one time. The atmosphere is nothing special, and it's a little dark. The servers were all very friendly, and overall I have no complaints about the service there. My one experience with the pasta wasn't the best. I ordered the rigatoni a la vodka. It came out looking way too orange, sort of like Kraft mac and cheese with a hint of tomato sauce mixed in. The flavor was just ok, and I don't think I will be ordering any pasta dish from there again. I think we will just stick with the pizza. read more

We order every 1-2 weeks pasta at Dusal's for pick-up. The food is delicious, hot and you get a good amount of food for the price. It looks and taste like real Italian food, not like the fake American Italian food. The staff seem to be a bit stressed especially when they are busy. read more

the service there by the men in front counter was terrible. like, worse than terrible. my friend and i went there for lunch today (sunday 12/22/13) and it says out there on the front white board that they will start serving dinner and no lunches starting 12/23/13. while we came in, the guys didn't say "how are you? or how many" we had to wait for the waitress. there was only one waitress. it was awkward waiting by the door (so this is the part where i give this place only 1 star). then the guy tells us to sit by the window. and so we do, when we order we are told that there was no lunch menu price. which is AWFULLY STRANGE since it was 12/22/13 sunday at around 3pm. so i tipped 20% but my friend didn't tip at all and then we left. overall, it was just a weird, awkward experience. i had their summer salad and it wasn't even that good! do yourself a favor and go to winberrie's in palmer square, princeton. their service is not sketchy and their lunch menu is wayy better! read more

Horrible. They forced us to sit at a corner table as we are teenagers. This table was horrible, lacking basic napkins and even a white cloth on the table, like we were less worthy than everyone else. They also forced us to pick up the food from the front desk, instead of having it served to us all under the fact that "we didn't order under a menu,". Food wasn't that great, let alone the steep prices, but that's not the point of this review. It's to express the poor treatment of their customers. As we walked in, a waitress asked us for the number of seats, and was about to proceed us to a normal table, but a man at the front desk stopped her and told us to order from the front. We, unknowing, did so and were placed at the table described. Immediately we felt uncomfortable and asked a waiter to move. He said that you have to order an entire pie, so called a "dinner", to be allowed at the table. we explained to him that we did so knew that we had met the requirements and asked the "grinch" at the front desk if we could move, where he promptly and sternly replied, "no". So we sat there eating food which we had to pick up ourselves, and were even further let down by the waitress giving us paper, yes, PAPER cups for us to have water served in. I don't understand why this had happened and why they would assume that because we are young that they had to put us in such a place, but if you don't want to support horrible service and want more bang for your buck, forget about Dusal's.
