I'm not sure what to make of this parking garage…read more We parked here to go to the american tobacco district and eat. At the time it was about 4:30 pm. There's a sign in front of every parking space that says you have to pay if you park here up to 5 pm. Well, the entrance in here has no booth, and neither does the exit. Who will I pay? I saw a guy starting to put out parking signs for Bulls game that night. I asked him how I pay and he said don't worry. Also, when you enter, there's a sign that says visitors first floor only. Does that mean going up during the day requires a parking permit? None of these things are very clear. Is the first floor has maybe four hundred spots. That may sound like a lot, but it's not, and they are small spaces. I do appreciate that the parking is convenient to the ball park in the historic district. I'm reducing a star because i'm a little confused even now about payment, but I'll park there again when in the area and figure it out one way or another

The garage is safe, walkable to the stadium and has plenty of direction to help you find the correct spot. It can be challenging on weekends and after hours because it doesn't actually say "free". The field is well maintained and played true -- Sunday hops everyday! Fans RAVED over the bleachers. Plenty of SHADED seating, practically a wind tunnel that was easily 10-15 degrees cooler compared to being on field in late June. Small parking lot was enough for our games. Restrooms were under the bleachers.

This is a great ball park, especially for minor league play. It is a beautiful facility…read more The best seats in the house, in my opinion, are under the awning on the first or third base side. There are also some large fans to help move some air as it gets hot and humid in Durham. The tickets are reasonably priced and it is good baseball. Parking can be a little tricky.. if you come from the right direction, you are pushed right into the parking garage. If you come from the wrong direction, which we did, you run into a lot of closed roads, etc. But it worked out. Definitely buy tickets ahead of time. We showed up once two years ago thinking(like most minor league games) you could get a ticket before the game... They were sold out. So we bought tickets on line. Also, if you want to get a spot in the garage, be there at least 30-45 min early. I am sure there is free parking somewhere that locals know about, but I just went with the 7$ parking. They also sell Durham Bull beer there which isnt half bad!! This is a great park and was a good time!

Brightleaf Square is a quaint retail development located in the center of the Brightleaf…read moreneighborhood in downtown Durham. I'd call it a "shopping center," but it's not like a typical suburban shopping center. The development consists of two repurposed brick warehouses, originally built in 1904, that used to store bright leaf tobacco (that's where the name comes from). So, Brightleaf Square looks and feels historic, and that's what makes it charming. That said, the development is kind of small and there's not that much here. If you want to walk across the street to, say, Rose's or Jeni's, then yes, the neighborhood (also known as the Brightleaf District) has more to offer. I highly recommend Rose's, by the way, for their ramen and ice cream sandwiches. Strictly speaking, within the square, Emmy Squared Pizza is terrific for their Detroit-style pizza. It's among the best deep-dish pizza anywhere, in my opinion. There's also Clouds Brewing, which is a craft brewery and restaurant. Other businesses are local/boutique shops, such as Bull City Art & Frame Company and Mill & Meadow Stationery Shop, and private offices. The brick/stone walkway, old-fashioned lamp posts, string lights, trees, benches, and early-1900s buildings can make for a fun, whimsical stroll with friends and family before or after lunch or dinner. It's also a good date spot, especially if you incorporate the larger neighborhood (e.g., pizza at Emmy Squared followed by ice cream sandwiches at Rose's). For parking, I suggest parking in the surface lot at the corner of W Main St and S Gregson St. You can enter the lot from either of those streets. Pay attention to signs as you may have to pay during certain days and times. Fun fact: Durham's infamous "Can Opener Bridge" is located on the south end of Brightleaf Square. If you don't know what I'm talking about, check out the bridge's Wikipedia page here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norfolk_Southern%E2%80%93Gregson_Street_Overpass Also, watch some of the videos on this YouTube channel to see the Can Opener in action: https://www.youtube.com/@11foot8plus8 The camera that captures those videos is mounted on one of the buildings at Brightleaf Square.

Hopefully they add better restaurants and more variety of boutiques here because the square is not living up to its potential. Basically, I'd skip this and head over to ATC.

The place is pretty easy to find and parkinng was definitely not the worst. The Good: This is the first time in my life when I went to a courthouse and it was a fairly enjoyable experience. Its spacious on the inside, well kept, secure, and modern. The most unexpected thing there was that everyone was really friendly and helpful. Not one person there from the security to the parking garage attendant seemed disgruntled. I went there to have my fingerprints taken and I had made an appointment online. Not only was the lady at the window and the lady who did my prints very friendly, but I was actually seen on time! Unbelievable. Friendly staff AND timely service at a government facility? That's new to me. If you have a choice of courthouses in the area, I would recommend this one. Plus some nice local shops are close by if yo u have to wait for someone or something, you can grab a nice coffee or whatever. The Bad: You have yo pay for parking. $2 for the first hour and $1 for every additional hour up to $10 max.
