We had to wait around 15min but the food was pretty good. We wish there was a little more seasoning to add flavor but overall it was good food and worth the price. The amount of food was good as well.

Ever since trying some amazing ones in California and Florida, we've been on the lookout for something that hits that same note--and we may have found a solid contender. Out of the many food trucks selling empanadas, The Rican Lab stood out. Their empanadas didn't disappoint. The crust was just right--crispy, not greasy, and not overly doughy. I didn't get any of that lingering cooking oil taste, which is a huge plus. I went with the beef empanada, while my husband tried the buffalo chicken. The beef had good flavor, but it could have used a binding agent--maybe cheese or sauce--to hold everything together. It felt a bit loose, so I imagine the beef and cheese version would have had better structure. I also think using shredded or chunked beef might work better than ground beef for a more satisfying texture. The buffalo chicken empanada was the real winner--well-seasoned with just the right kick. Neither empanada was dry or overly saucy, but both could benefit from a solid dipping sauce to round them out. We also grabbed a cherry lemonade, which was wonderfully refreshing. It hit a perfect balance--not too sour, not too sweet, and just tart enough. Bonus points for the generous serving size--it definitely felt worth the price. Beyond the food, the event itself was an amazing experience. There were food trucks representing a variety of cultures--Laotian, Filipino, Greek, and more. The diversity of choices was exciting. On top of that, local performers added to the festive atmosphere with live music and dancing. All in all, the Raleigh' Annual International Food Truck Festival is a must-visit. If you're on the hunt for good eats and good vibes, this is the place to be. We're already looking forward to our next visit--and the next round of empanadas.

When she called my order number, I asked if it was a beef dog and she said no. I said I'm sorry don't eat pork and your menu doesn't mention it either. This lady looked at me and said Oh.. and went to the next customer. No apology or refund offering of anything else on the menu. I didn't eat lunch that day. I ended up giving it away because it was, in fact a $5 hotdog lol. Sooo yes this place gets a 1 from me and I will not be a retuning customer!

The hotdogs have a snap but are not the red kind -- but they shouldn't be with a food truck with this name. The hotdogs are fine, some of the toppings are generous but are just about right for the size of the hot dog and bun. The cheese fries have the classic glow-in-the-dark cheese of convenience store nachos, but they are served hot. Because I came across this food truck at a brewery, it just right for the atmosphere and as an accompaniment. I can't say I'd actively seek it out again, but I wouldn't avoid it, either. I need to try some of the wings just to say I've experienced the buffalo-wings from a food truck promoting its Buffalo connection.

You'll see a large parking lot and start to ask yourself what all this church stuff has to do with coffee. Or, for that matter, all the sports and activity resources. Well, they don't. Serenity is a coffee-getting SPACE inside a SPACE that offers all kinds of other things within its SPACE, like a game room, among others. Calling it a "coffee shop" is going too far. But very convenient if you're craving caffeine and don't feel like driving out of your way to reach Ugly Mug or deal with the maddening weekend conditions at Cultivate. (Speaking of which, they use Cultivate beans here. So that's a win.) It's charmless, tucked inside an echo-laden, hall of many shades of gray and not a window in sight. Huge and accommodating, with work tables rocking multiple outlets per person (!), there are good things to say, for sure. Like the barista with the kind demeanor. The churchy feel is pretty overwhelming. If you're not into that or have a problem with it, think again? Idk, it's obvious that the coffee aspect rings as an afterthought, what with everything else going on. If you're looking for a coffee house situation, you won't find it here. But if you want an uber-quiet, enormously spacious, wholly uninteresting place to work, give Serenity Brews a shot. Fair warning, though - the wifi is paltry, so don't bring any demanding work.

There is also an arcade in the building. I was thrilled to be able to get a hot green tea. I ordered a large gunpowder green tea and it came with 2 teabags steeping. I usually follow steeping directions based on the type of tea when I make a cup at home and have had other places steep the tea before I get it but I was okay taking the teabags out after a few minutes. The tea was wonderfully hot and I thoroughly enjoyed the flavor and being able to explore the area with ambitious athletes working on their various disciplines. Plenty of seating and it is a great place to grab a hot drink, a smoothie, or even a pastry after a workout or while waiting for your athlete.
