This is a homophobic pub with a some nasty regulars and a hostile manager (Darryl). Until tonight, I loved Molly Malones. It was my favourite pub in Hitchin. I attended a few times a month watch live sport. I met some lovely people, especially around the pool table. I went tonight to watch the PSG vs Chelsea game, and ended up playing poker with a couple of lovely guys, and the manager, Darryl, who turned out to be not so lovely. After the football, whislt I was at the bar, another patron shouted out 'Chelsea Nonce'. This is an offensive homophobic slur when connected to football, as evidenced by the conviction of Joey Barton who repeatedly used it on social media. I politely but firmly told the guy that was not okay. He got aggresive and told me to 'F' off. He then said it again. I reitereated that his language wasn't okay, and said I'd call the police if he said it again. He said it again. I dialled 999. At this point the manager (Darryl) asked me to leave the pub and took my drink away (I had just bought him a pint). He said he was removing me from the premises 'for my own safety'. The police attended. The said that 'nonce' was not a slur. I advised them to educate themselves, They were rude and dismissive. Darryl appeared at the door, grinning, and invited the officers into the pub. They left within 2 minutes, and reported on their radio that no offence had been comiited. I got their badge numbers and names and have made a complaint to Hertfordshire police. The police officers advised me that if I was now unwelcome in the pub, if I didn't move on and a complaint by the manager was made, I would be moved on by them forcefully. This is NOT an LGBTQ friendly pub. It's NOT a friendly pub at all under it's current management. Have a look at the other poor reviews for this pub and how the manager responds. J

It's situated on Nightingale road a little out of the centre of town but is well worth seeking out. The staff are very friendly, the beer is good and the whole atmosphere of the place is great. They show the footie when it's on and have live bands from time to time plus events such as party night on Halloween and New Year etc. It's not a particularly big place so it can get a little crowded at peak times. There's a little courtyard out the back for smokers but you couldn't really call it a beer garden. Parking can be problematic around here but there are soem free parking slots across the road next door to the petrol station. Go on - give Molly's a go - you'll come back again

This is what brought me to Ganleys Irish Bar in Morden. Ganleys do make full play of their Irishness from the bright green decor of the exterior through to theming indoors including various folk music instruments and sign posts to Irish destinations. As it turned out, they also have a strong rugby link with the whole back ceiling being adorned with an impressive array of rugby shirts. It also meant a surfeit of large screen TVs on which to view the match. I was actually a little worried as I couldn't find any pubs open in Morden when I first arrived but Ganleys opened just in time for the 9am kickoff. Breakfast was available about half an hour after they first opened. They were out of pineapple juice so my J2O set me back £2. The match turned out to be a terrific spectacle even if the Welsh heroic effort came up short. Alain Rolland's hugely controversial decision to send off the Welsh skipper after 17 minutes and the subsequent reaction in the pub suggests that he had better not set foot in Ganleys should any of us Welsh supporters be around when he does! A nice place for some partisan sports watching!

The One Crown in Watford has been quite a major bolt hole to me over the years, however, a few…read moremonths ago, I deserted the place because it was being run into the ground by apathetic management and a money grabbing pub chain called P***h Taverns and the only thing missing from 'Happy Hour' was a complimentary razor blade...... In recent times it had gone through a series of tenants, none of whom, except for Jackie could quite understand the meaning of the word 'Hospitality' thus driving away the regulars, resulting in this historic pub closing for business a few months ago. You cannot imagine how happy I am to announce that after a closure and refurbishment, The One Crown has finally reopened under new management. Gone is the nasty smell of neglect that used to hit you as soon as you walked through the door and the dated, built - in seating has been removed, the 1970's carpets have given way to oak floors and the pool table is immaculate. The cramped entrance has been changed and the place has a nice atmosphere Most bars that close down for a refurbishment usually reopen with higher prices, but this is not the case here. Having had a chat with the new 'guvnor, Martyn Cannon, I feel assured that all the issues that affected the pub in times gone by WILL be addressed over the coming winter months in order to make the garden fit for purposeful enjoyment next year....... the old refrigeration unit has already been consigned to scrap and the newly silenced garden has been tidied up. In short, the future's looking good for the regulars and I would like to welcome Martin and Shelley to Watford and wish them success and prosperity for their tenure of The One Crown. Cheers!

Bought a pint and sat in the corner with a paper and a good view of the Spurs game that'd just kicked off. The bar wasnt busy, maybe 4-5 other people including the barman. Within 20 minutes I had to get up and leave. A real life Alf Garnet was standing at the bar. This loud and obnoxious regular (I believe his name was Michael) was having a very frank discussion with another first time visitor who had a strong accent that I overheard say was from Zimbabwe. I've never heard such racist remarks in any pub i've ever been in. This conversation was out there for all to hear, he labelled all manner of ethnic groups as thieves and druggies, lay abouts and wrong doers. He repeatedly made reference to Black people in that area. He be-littled the PC brigade. He then went on to mention "northeners, the Jocks and the Irish" as not much better, even though he claimed to have an Irish mother.I was watching the barman during this tirade of bile, he seemed to be enjoying the entertainment and made absolutely no effort to silence this scumbag, even though he had just served me. Maybe by speaking with a Scottish accent to him when ordering my pint, and by paying him with a Scottish banknote he missed the fact that I might be from Scotland and would be sickened by what was being said.I own a bar in Glasgow, I'm used to a bit of banter and verbal abuse that can go on in a pub. I would not accept what went on in the One Crown, the racist would have been ejected and told not to come back.I found my experience in the One Crown abhorrent. If this is the norm for this pub then the sooner it closes the better, maybe thats why there were only 4 people in it on a sunday afternoon.

We were respectful and nonpolitical, she assumed from our ethnic backgrounds and treated us accordingly. She verbatim said she will not serve our kind. If you want a pub without employees making every thing political, this is not the spot. We do not even entertain politics, she just put us in a basket. This is the first time in my life I had to exit the pub because of the brainwashed ultra lefty employee. I love all people and people on the left, it sucks that this extremist ruined the night after spending our hard earned money. It was the second pub I visited on my visit to London, and again, I can't wait to go back. First, the prices: in America, two drinks would have cost at least $20; here, two drinks were only £11. I would've spent the whole night there if I could, but when you're traveling and have places to be early the next day, it's hard. Second, the service and ambiance were great. They serve the drinks very quickly, and of course, they know how to pour a pint of Guinness.
