However the fella behind the counter is charming enough, and there's shelf in the back with wine and beer. The stock itself is deliciously fresh and priced more reasonably than the bigger, brighter Spar just across the village square. It's nice to know where everything is no matter which one you might happen to go into to grab whatever groceries you need. They have a great section of fresh foods like the fruit, veg, bakery, meat and fish and they also have a brilliant health food and alternative foods section. It's an asset to the town and makes shopping very enjoyable as the ambience of the shop is so lovely now with the renovations!

Yes there are groceries and produces here, but there's also clothes, electronics, household items, books, etc. It's a big store and I've always been able to find what I'm looking for here. Prices at Tesco are pretty decent from what I've seen. Not quite as low as a Lidl or Aldi, but not as high as a Dunnes or Marks & Spencer. Since Lidl and Aldi has a lower selection it's nice to come to Tesco and do one stop shopping here. The Tesco is located on the upper floor of the shopping centre, but they have inclined flat escalators for shopping carts. There's a bathroom outside the Tesco on the upper floor that is clean and well maintained. Bus stops are located right outside, but for those with a car there is a car park here as well. I really like this Tesco and look forward to coming back here again.

There are constantly long queues at the checkout. Usually only one register is open with a huge line of people waiting. Sometimes there are two, but only when it's extremely busy. The staff often seem gloomy and unwelcoming, and the whole place looks messy and unpleasant. In general, Lidl seems to be getting worse and worse. Other supermarkets now have self-checkouts that also allow you to pay with cash, which makes life much easier. Here, you often can't do that, which is frustrating--especially when you want to send your child to buy something and give them cash. Honestly, I can't stand this store anymore--neither this one in Bray nor any other Lidl. The only reason I still end up here sometimes is because Aldi doesn't have the same bakery selection. If they did, my foot would never step inside any Lidl again.

When we heard here of the prevalence of the "Chip and PIN" system here, we were super worried and braved awful ATM fees to withdraw cash down the way. Per Chase/British Airways: "Further, customers in the United States traveling outside the U.S. are not required to obtain a PIN. Merchants in Europe (or other countries) are required to: - Accept all cards with magnetic stripe - Honor all cards bearing the Visa/ MasterCard brand mark if they accept MasterCard - Accept magnetic stripe as well as chip cards, even in markets that are evolving to 100% chip card local issuance You should urge the merchant to insert the card into the terminal and follow the prompts. The terminal will automatically request a signature. We told them what we were looking for and they pointed us to Lidl straight away. We had a bit of a road trip planned over the course of the week and needed to stock up on snacks and breakfast items. Their store brand almonds were only $1.50 - that's less than you can find them anywhere at home. We were able to get fresh fruit and veggies along with our dried goods and a few freezer items all for under $30. That would have cost twice that at home for the same type of stuff. While this store was small it had what we needed in an easy to find layout.

After dancing the night away, we were hungry. Couldn't find anything open, so we decided to hit up Spar for some food. Our initial stop here was just to get some provisions such as red bull, water, etc. The second stop was for the drunken eats. Luckily they have a fair amount of ready to eat food. We grabbed some sandwiches - Chicken & Egg Cub, Chicken & Pepper Sandwich. Also, got some chips - Guiness and Flame Grilled Steak. The chips were something I never tried before. It wasn't bad at all. Beer and meat chips, who knew? I have no idea how much we spent here since the hubs took care of everything and I forgot to get a pic of the receipt. So I did find some Doritos flavors at Spar that i hadn't seen anywhere else during my time in Dublin. It's a fully stocked store with an array of items from chips, candy, and cookies to an assortment of grab&go sandwiches and instant ramen. This location is nestled on the corner of a busy, crowded street. No self-checkout. You have to pay at the register. The customer service was a bit lackluster.
