Well, things have changed since 2011 because this place is TOTES overrun with tourists. However, Dunloe Lodge was still pretty fun.
While I am not a fan of traditional Irish music per se, I can be OK with it sometimes and my parents wanted to hear some. So as we wandered around we heard music coming out of this place so we went in. We managed to score some seats near the back of the room which was great since it wasn't right up against the guys playing the music.
The tunes were some traditional Irish and some American country like Johnny Cash. It was ok. We had a bigger table and only 3 people so we let others use our extra chairs. So we met other Americans...from Washington State and from Iowa or Idaho or something. Not an Irish person in sight except for the people working there. But hey, what are you going to do?
The bathroom...sooo I came out and was convinced that the person that went in before me had smoked a big ole doobie. (Must have been from Colorado?) BUT when I went back later it still smelled that way and I figured it was a very strong air freshener with a STRONG pine/pot smell. I mean, it stung my eyes and burned my nose hairs. Holy hell, they need to tone that down. Or maybe someone really did smoke pot in there. What do I know?
Overall a good place to have some pints and listen to some music. Not really my type of tunes, but fun for the parents. I do like booze and beer though so it is A-OK. read more
