Bagel Mainea used to be my favorite bagel shop around. I loved the staff, the atmosphere, and…read moreobviously, the bagels. I came here today for the first time in a few months because I've been in a rough financial spot, but I decided to spoil myself and order online since I was rushing to work. The order said it would take about 30 minutes, so I thought, "Okay, I have time." I got there about 20 minutes later and was shocked to see that my order was already done! I grabbed the bag and headed back to my car, gave the bagels to my partner, and we hopped onto the interstate. Unfortunately, the next exit was 10 miles south. My partner pulls the bagels out, and to our absolute surprise... THE BAGELS WEREN'T EVEN TOASTED. WHO IS ORDERING A BAGEL WITH CREAM CHEESE UNTOASTED?! So not only did I pay $20 for THREE bagels, but I paid for three bagels that were completely inedible to me. And because we were already on the interstate with no exit for 10 miles, there was nothing I could do about it. I'm honestly so disappointed because I used to love this place. I understand mistakes happen, but when you're spending $20 on three bagels, especially when you're already trying to be careful with money, you expect your order to at least be made correctly. Would not recommend after this experience and due to the change of atmosphere, I won't be back, and will be taking my bagel orders to Sunrise Bagel down the street.

There were roughly 10 tables set for groups of two. The menu was cafè driven and offered a mix of drip and crafted coffees, bagels and breakfast sandwiches. The staff was present and tentative to the order. The breakfast sandwich (Garlic bagel, egg, bacon and cheese) was ok. The bagel was the only thing that carried any sort of seasoning or flavor. The blueberry bagel was fresh and delicious. The facility was not clean, not well kept. The floors were dirty and the ceiling was filthy. The place is okay in a pinch, but not a frequent visit for us.

We also each got a really nice vegan cupcake and while it was delicious, it was very crumbly and made a mess on both of us. The frosting was fabulous and made up for the crumbles. We just went for a morning treat but we'd be back for some of their other offerings like the falafel wrap for example. Definitely worth a stop in if you're vegan and need a quick, clean bite but also of course many more options for non vegans as well.

Long lines, okay service, AMAZING bagels!…read more Stopped by Sunrise Bagel on our way to Acadia and it was incredible. Top 3 bagels I've had in Maine. I got the kicking maple bagel for my smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich, and it was phenomenal; so fresh, so crunchy, so delicious. My husband raved about his jalapeño cheddar, which he ordered for his pork roll sandwich. The line went out the door and the woman at the front wasn't too friendly, but I'd go back in a heartbeat just for the food. They have plenty of seating, a few outdoor tables (great since we had our dog with us), and plenty of parking too. One tip: order online to skip the line.

It's in an old bank building on a darling street that you need to stroll down. Once inside, we were mesmerized by the delectable treats in the cases and by the bakers toiling away in front of the open vault doors. We ordered a cinnamon roll (possibly the BEST we have ever had!) and an apple cream cheese danish (FILLED with creamy cheese and apple slices!). We also got a loaf of olive sourdough bread that we had with dinner. So good. Truly wish we had bought more!! The black coffee was smooth and the Mocha Latte was like drinking melted chocolate (perhaps a bit too much for me). Absolutely recommend a stop here even if it's out of your way.
