I learned that the owners met in Chile, where they were inspired to start a donut and coffee food truck. They sold their handcrafted donuts from a vintage VW bus on the streets of Santiago before eventually bringing their passion to Pennsylvania. Today, they have two locations, and I had the pleasure of visiting the Jim Thorpe shop. The storefront is charming, welcoming, and has a few seats where you can relax and enjoy your treats with a fresh cup of coffee. Best of all, everything is made fresh on-site. Their display case is filled with an impressive selection of classic and specialty donuts, along with colorful macarons, French toast cinnamon rolls, flaky croissants, and a full lineup of coffee drinks ranging from lattes to iced coffees. Honestly...wow! Deciding what to order wasn't easy. Since it was already midday, I kept it simple and went with a Boston Cream donut. It was incredibly fresh, light, and filled with rich, creamy custard, then topped with a smooth layer of chocolate. Absolutely delicious! A special shout-out to Sarah, who made the visit even better. She was warm, friendly, and incredibly helpful, taking the time to explain the different donuts and macarons. Everything she described sounded amazing, and she definitely had my mouth watering. The doughnuts are definitely more expensive than your average doughnut shop, but they're also in an entirely different league. I honestly couldn't have eaten a second one even if someone had offered it to me for free. One was plenty, and it kept me full for most of the afternoon, which made the price feel completely reasonable. PRO TIP: Spend a couple minutes looking at the menu before you go. They offer everything from sweet layered doughnuts to savory options, breakfast sandwiches, coffee and espresso drinks.
