I haven't been out that way for many months now. I picked up a dozen today and we were all so very disappointed. Every filled donut had 25% (or less) of the filling they've had prior. You would have to bite way into the donut to finally reach the filling and after taking two bites the filling was gone. This conclusion was unanimous by the way. In the past, when you would bite into a filled donut, the filling would ooze out, and every bite would be have more than adequate filling, and now we could barely find any. When I told this to a friend, she told me they had stopped purchasing Dippin Donuts at least from that location for the very same reason. I don't know if it is just this location or if it is across the board at all locations, but it is undeniably obvious when you bite into a doughnut now from the Leicester location that it has greatly changed. I don't where those directions to change the recipe so drastically came from, but unless you go back to making your donuts the way you always have in the past, we definitely will not be buying donuts from there again and wouldn't recommend it. Did you change the recipe and/or also decide to cut way way back on the filling for a reason? I'm sorry to not give a good review, but these donuts were skimpier than Dunkin's and I hope enough people state the same that you will remedy this. Thank you.

I tasted to confirm) and a few others. Yes, price is above that national chain, but you get what you pay for. Quick service, good eats, they put their money into their food (and probably their workers) instead of their branding. So do support your local place - even if there's a few of them in the area - and dip before you dunk!

Today was "date night" so when look for a new place to checkout 308 Lakeside made the list, after reading a recent article on social media about new owners, we decided to stop for a late Sunday lunch. Once we found a place to park (parking is a challenge as they are victim of their own success so be prepared) We were greeted pleasantly by the hostess and promptly seated. They had a duet performing live music of pop covers. We were seated along the window overlooking Lake Lashaway. Nice view! Our server, Payton was very helpful and patient as this was our first time. Jessica the manager stopped by the table to check on us and introduce herself, after a nice conversation about this being our first time and the article highlighting the new owner, Payton returned with our beverages (raspberry tea, root beer and water). We ordered as a starter potato skins. In due course they were brought. These potato skins had a lot of potato still in the skins- making them the perfect carrier for the generous amount of cheese and bacon. Served with sour cream. Delicious! By this time we were ready to order. I ordered the French dip with fries. This is one of my favorite sandwiches and is a rarity these days. My wife ordered the stuffed portobello mushroom and house side salad. I also the limited menu item pretzel sticks, and a bowl of their chili to share with my wife. Payton was good to check on us and keep us hydrated. After a bit of time since we ordered (nearly an hour) Jessica came over and apologized for the delay and said the food would be out shortly, and comped us a dessert. The reason was totally out of their control and has no bearing on this review. One of the kitchen staff had an immediate family member pass away, leaving the kitchen short handed. It was gracious of Jessica to comp a dessert, we weren't in any hurry it being date night. The food was delivered as promised and exceeded expectations. I have to say the French dip was a solid #3 on my top ten list of French dips I have enjoyed in my lifetime. (#1 Rio Rico Resort in 1978 AZ, #2 The Colonial Restaurant in 1974 CT) My wife's portobello mushroom was one of the best she has had (being allergic to seafood and knowing her tastes I trust her review). The chili was good and we ended up bringing home. We would make the drive just for the chili. Pretzel sticks were server hot and were very light. The mustard base dipping sauce was some of the best we have enjoyed and perfectly suited for the pretzel sticks. For dessert we shared a piece of blueberry carrot cake with whipped cream. It was a delicious ending to our meal and first visit. The only detractors was the parking which I am not sure they can do much about (only a single handicapped space), we ended having to park up the road; and a tidying up- the men's room while the fixtures were clean, the floor has layers of soil from being mopped with dirty water (easy to rectify with occasional professional cleaning) and a partial beer bottle was left on top of the towel dispenser. In the room we were seated in, the acoustic ceiling panels just need a good dusting. Like a said those are but minor observations. The food was some of the best around and the service equally a standout. Highly recommend 308 Lakeside. We will definitely be back.

It's about 10 minutes away, and we had reserved a table for 12:30 p.m. in case they were busy. The lake views caught our attention as soon as we walked in. Large, nearly floor-to-ceiling windows face the water, and there's also a good-sized outdoor deck. It was a quiet afternoon and the friendly hostess let us choose a table, so we picked one by the window. The shaded deck seemed like it might be a little too cool on this fall day. We looked over the summer specials, daily specials, and half-priced appetizer menus before ordering a grilled Reuben with regular fries, a French dip with sweet potato fries, iced tea, and water with lemon. The regular fries were excellent: hot and crispy. The sweet potato fries were tasty but a little limp. The Reuben was served hot, with tender pastrami. It wasn't an outstanding Reuben, but it was good. The French dip was disappointing. The meat was tough, perhaps because it was sliced too thick, and the au jus was bland. Service was slow and inconsistent. Our waitress checked on us a couple of times but then disappeared. We eventually flagged her down for the check, but when it took a long time for her to return to process it. So we found the hostess who processed it quickly and cheerfully. Overall, it was a three-star lunch. The lake view was the highlight; the food and service were mixed.

I now take my boys here every year. And I plan on continuing the tradition with them. Fond memories of penny candy, and apple dumplings with vanilla ice cream. And the merry -go-round and swings and those super fast and hot slides rofl. The beauty of the orchard and of course the tasty apples! They have their own cheese and fresh baked goods including different sized trays of their always good apple pie dumplings that you can buy to go or you can go to the building outside for refreshments and sit at the picnic tables. But be warned, the yellow jackets are everywhere. They don't tend to sting unless they have been irritated but it's hard to sit still when they are crawling on your foot or drink. Though I don't mind sharing, this isn't what I had in mind. But that's nature. You can always escape to your car to finish your refreshment s and head back out to check out their gift shop or antiques area! It's also a beautiful walk on the road at the orchard as well with gorgeous views of sunset and apple trees just before closing. They of course have many events for the public like book fairs, and festivals of all kinds so it's wise to follow their Facebook page! Brookfield orchard has been a family owned and operated business since 1918! I hope they continue to get the support they need to stay open. It truly is a nice place to go to spend a couple of hours and support a small business. Be sure to leave with some tasty apples, apple cider and those amazing apple dumplings! I know we can never leave without them! I do recomend this place! Bring the family! It's got a little something for everyone!
