Long wait, but great brisket!…read more After getting rave recommendations from friends, I lined up an hour before Mad Jack's opened, to be one of the first groups seated in the restaurant. There are a lot of benches outside for the line so odds are you can sit down while waiting. After seeing how large the line grew, I'm glad we decided to wait in line early. Interior has several tables, with plenty of self serve aspects with a soda fountain, pickles/onions/etc on hand if you need some, and to-go boxes/bags if you ended up with leftovers. Best of all, big rolls of paper towels on every table for digging into the BBQ. As for the food, the brisket was great. Smoky and flavorful and had superb texture. The dino rib was pretty good but not as stellar as the brisket. The sausage was alright and my friend and I agreed that the sausage was what was going into the leftover box for sure. The mac and cheese was a great addition, while the cornbread was a tad too sweet but still rounded out the meat well. If you're in the area and want some BBQ, the brisket here is the star of the show. It's a long line so be prepared for a wait before you get your food.

I'll keep this short and put my Yelp flag proudly in the ground right here in Cloudcroft, New Mexico. As somebody who lives in Tennessee and travels regularly all across the map. I think that Mad Jack's may be the best BBQ I've had in the entire US (full stop). This is indeed the barbecue spot you've been looking for! There is one reason alone that I walked away mad from my experience at Jack's. It was the realization that this incredible establishment is so far away from me and now all other barbecue spots will now pale in comparison. Well played, Jack... well played. ------------------------------ Experience Grade: Ambience: A+ Service / Staff: A+ Barbecue: A++

We Highly recommend and it was suggested to us from 3 others. They were right.

The pot roast is super tender and flavorful and the veggies with it pair well. The chicken fettuccini was not my favorite of the mix, but it was still cooked very well and tasted good. I'm not the biggest fan of French onion soup but this was a decent one. And although we only got 1 serving of bread, it was warm and perfectly soft inside. Why it was just ok: we turned up without reservations around 7:30 and were told it was going to be a 30 minute wait. We asked if we could sit at the bar and were told that was also 30 minutes despite there being empty seats. Fine. We waited. 45 minutes later, multiple parties come in, without reservations. They manage to sit at the bar. We were told it's first come first serve and we needed to just grab a seat. Would have been nice if we were told that from the start, especially since we couldn't sit at the empty seats earlier. We got our food to go instead more than an hour after we first came in. If there was anything else open by the time we found out, we would have just left. Despite this, I'd say this is a good spot to get food to go, or make sure you have reservations ahead of time.
