Macdonald Brothers did not disappoint. The choice and quality they had on dispay was huge for what was a realatively small shop. We decided on venison burgers and fillet steak - it was maybe a bit pricey but it was the real deal. The venison burgers were very tasty and filling and the fillet steak was very thick and tasted excellent. The service was first class - the standard of hygien displayed was first class and the butcher who served us was so helpful and friendly. A sham it is so far from home - maybe next time I'll bring some things home for the freezer

The cheese selection is very good as well. The buttery brie in the display case is just melting away by the minute. I recommend you get a salami sandwich to go and find a nice picnic spot in this cute little town or use it to sop up all that Edradour. ;)

The staff were also super nice and were accommodating enough to make me a ice-cream coffee (I got a half cup of the flat white and then got a scoop of the local vanilla ice-cream added - delicious!). Also this place was the only shop serving food that was open on the High Street on a Friday evening after 5pm (they close at 5:30). Would recommend.

For the sandwich, I chose ham with mustard and pickle, which got some interesting looks from the man behind the counter (for the Americans reading this, these aren't kosher dill slices of pickle - it's more like a chutney). It wasn't much, but after a full Scottish breakfast, including haggis that morning, we just needed a wee bit to stop the growl. All the ingredients were fresh. They've got lots of meats and jarred food stuffs for sale, but we weren't in any position to take such items with us, nor to have it shipped.

I recently asked for John's advice for selecting and cooking a piece of pork (I'm not really a very good cook) and between him and Allen (another member of the Troup Team) it was prepared and cooked surprisingly well ! It's an old-school village butchers shop with many of the customers shopping there for many, may years. Troup's also sells a selection of vegetables (displayed outside the shop), home-made pies and pates. Easy parking too with the old station car parking area opposite the shop. A really lovely, friendly place in a very nice Royal Deeside village. Five stars !

Selling the usual array of meats, cooked and raw, and with excellent deals on regularly, this is one fantastic place hidden away on Sauchiehall street. Get your bum here. In the past I had never seen it in their display but came on the of chance, I asked the server if there was any, and I was in luck there was a stock pile in the fridge. Not sure why a butchers shop would stock an item then not place it on display, very odd indeed. There is a good selection here, from steak pie's to eggs, definitely a place to visit.

The best thing about this butchers is the value for money. Not only are you sold superior goods, but at normal prices - why would you buy meat elsewhere? The main things to try are the sausages and pies. Both are truly brilliant and well worth the pitiful amount of money you will have to pay for them. From having a 5 min healthy discussion on preferences of wing-tip sirloin and ribs of beef I was given a sneeky peep round the back. These guys provide the beef for the best steak places in Glasgow. I'd eaten at one of them earlier in the week and my eyes were bulging at the trays of chateaubriands and rib in sirloins. So, as you'd expect, their meat is very well sourced and as good as you're going to get anywhere. I took a1kg 1rib Angus and pan roasted it in butter and wilted rosemary to get a good sear, then a quick 15 mins in the oven. I had it sat on some roasted beetroot puree with a port, wine and fresh beef stock reduction and the beef was some of the best I've ever eaten. Superb quality and ageing. Week after I wanted a lamb rump as I had the hunger for some dauphinoise. They were happy just to prep some up straight away, no fuss. The lamb was delicious........as was the dauph ;) ........and the sausages. Get the Italian fennel ones and slow cook cook them in your tomato sauce for pasta. Very, very impressive. Prices are as you'd expect for meat of this quality. Look on the window for weekly £10 deals. Steak and chicken. Well worth it.

Walk by often enough, but was compelled to go in today noticing the £10 offer which includes 2 sirloin steaks, 2 pork loins, 4 steak lorne sausages and 4 pork sausages. And if that doesn't make you want to go as well, you're either a vegetarian, or just plain ole crazy (yes, those are different). Nice decor, welcoming, with a good layout and professional staff. Excellent selection of all sorts, including lamb burgers that are absolutely getting destroyed next visit. Delighted with my purchase today and will return. Enough said.

Inside you are welcomed by a small shop and butcher counter and lots of fresh veg outside. The staff are always friendly (even if you turn up 2 minutes before they close because you have forgotten the bacon for Sunday breakfast!) The shop sells local produce, Kelly of Cults breads and cakes and other veggies, chutneys and produce from the area. The butcher counter sells good meat and the staff will advise you on the best cuts or ways to cook the meat you are buying. This is a lovely local butcher and worth a visit.

I've never seen a butchers in my whole life this busy and this is because it is a very good butchers, especially when you consider it in terms of value for money. Prices start at just over £3 per kilo for ribs and the first boneless item comes in at just under £4 per kilo for some pork shoulder. As you move up the quality of the meat the price remains very good value for money as it moves up with the quality and this is what makes this place so popular. Put simply, this is one of the better butchers in town.

We were greeted and shown the layout by the friendly staff. It was a beautiful spot with a retail space, a sit down area and a little window to peek into the kitchen. It was a shame to have shown up when there wasn't any priduction but they did have a tv that showed some of the processes used here. We browsed around the retail, bought a couple things than sat and ordered a few different truffle flavors, hot chocolate and the ice cream. Everything was delicious! I was a huge fan of the ice cream even with the weather not being so warm. The white drinking chocolate was a bit too sweet for me, I would next time do the classic drinking chocolate but the white hot chocolate was tasty! I would highly recommend stopping by here and can't wait to visit again

Their beans coming from suppliers in Central America, like my home country of Honduras. This hot chocolate was second only to Italian hot chocolate for me.
