Detached the battery after i got home, made an appointment online and dropped it off early the next morning. They looked at and fixed the problem hours before my appointment. Well, I was having engine overheating problems so I scheduled an appointment with Dunedin Total Car…read moreCare to get it checked. Their internet reviews were satisfactory so I felt comfortable with the appointment I had made. I arrived promptly at the scheduled time of 10 AM. They then performed a pressure and block test for $82.38 which revealed a cracked thermostat water outlet where the coolant was leaking from. The repair was quoted for over $600.00 which I declined to have done when compared to a more average repair price between $300.00 to $500.00 dollars. Now I am waiting in their guest lobby and the clock kept on ticking well beyond a reasonable time for them to get my car back. So, this is where my nightmare begins. I then walked around the back of the shop and I noticed that the "mechanic" could not get the car started. This went on for sometime before they told me that the ignition key was worn out. Well, I could not believe what I was hearing. I had driven my car from Clearwater to Dunedin and then the mechanic drove the car from their parking lot into their shop without any ignition issues. At that point they asked me if I had a spare ignition key which I said it was at home. So, they drove me to my home in Clearwater to get the spare ignition key. I found two spare keys at my home witch I took back to their shop. These keys were practically brand new but when they tried to start the car, neither one worked either. So, the problem was not the keys as they had claimed but the ignition switch. Wow, I now needed a new ignition switch, which the repair totaled $468.86 When I pointed out that I had driven my car to Dunedin and the mechanic had drove my car into their shop without any key or ignition switch problems, they said that the pressure and block test had nothing to do with it. And yet, I can't help it but presume that the mechanic twisted and forced the key into the ignition key and thus breaking the ignition switch. So, there I was stranded at their mercy without a working car. I wound up maxing out one of my credit cards to cover this unnecessary repair, read 'em and weeps! They went ahead and ordered a new ignition switch but as luck would have it, the owner himself ordered the wrong part. The wait for another new part was just unbearable so I decided to walk to a near by pizza place for a bite to eat. When I got back, I noticed they had put a real mechanic to install the new ignition switch. So I wonder if the other mechanic was even certified! The switch installation took about two hours since almost half of the driver's dashboard had to be disassembled to get to the ignition switch. And since the new ignition switch came with new keys, the old keys were useless. By now, after almost six hours, I had just resigned myself to get it over with without any further aggravation. However, when I finally got my car back I noticed that the driver's side floor mat was heavily soiled with black grease. You would think they could have at least used one of those disposable paper mats to protect the floor mat, right? Replacement for this mat runs between $75 and $85 dollars...should I sue? So, I had gone in for one thing and walked out with a repair for something entirely different!

But since none of those mechanics specialized in transmissions and both seemed a little too expensive, took my jeep here after getting a local recommendation. I didn't tell them I had already been told I need a transmission rebuild, just explained the issues w/ the car. Within an hour of dropping it off, the GM called me to confirm I needed a rebuild, explain what was going on, what it would & since my car was still drivable & there was a couple day window before I would be able to take it in, he said if anything happened & I broke down, to just call him & he would get a tow truck to me asap at no charge. My jeep has been fixed for about 3 weeks now & a couple of minor issues occurred with the speed sensor & gauges, all of which he took care of. He also made sure to tell me to bring my jeep by a week or so after the rebuild so they could double check everything, which was also no charge & part of the service. A few weeks later my radiator decided to commit suicide (unrelated) & I was 2+ hours away from this AAMCO location. I called them in a panic & knew there was no way I could drive my Jeep over & the Manager jumped on the horn, got me the closest AAMCO to my location, called the manager there & gave them a heads up I was coming. When I got to the other location, they took care of me asap & had a rental car company on stand by to pick me up. If anything changes with the quality of work, I'll be sure to update review. But so far I'm very pleased with quality of work, timely-ness, shop is very neat & organized (even have an after hours answering service), price is very fair & I like the fact that all the AAMCO's help each other, so if I'm not near this location I know I won't be stranded.

I used my diagnostic tester to try to determine what the problem was. The tester indicated that there was a misfire in one of the cylinders. I finally reached Cruz Auto Repair in the late afternoon. Corey replied back that he could come to the house between 6 & 8 that evening (Sunday). Corey came at about 6:45 and immediately began to diagnose the issue and found that the cylinder had a bad spark plug. We talked about a price and I decided to have Corey change all the plugs. which he did. running a test again, he found that one of the coils was also bad. Since it was late at night, after 8 PM and the auto parts store was closed, we discussed a price and agreed that Corey would come back the next morning with a new replacement coil. Corey came back the next morning and replaced the coil and now the car is working just fine. From the start, Corey showed knowledge of auto repairs, did exactly what he said he would do for the price that he quoted each time. I would highly recommend Cruz Auto Repair for all repairs. Thank you Corey.

I was told that my oil was very dark, and they advised me to get an oil/motor flush if I intended to keep my car for any length of time, and that it had to be done before changing the oil, I told them to take care of it. It cost an additional $135 for this service.... Later that evening, something did not sit well with me this due to the fact that no mechanic had ever suggested this service for any vehicle that I ever previously owned. I checked the Internet and found that every authority on Google, YouTube, and Reddit, advised that this was NOT a necessary service for my vehicle. It also mentioned that on older car (mine is a 2015) that any deposit on seals could be removed with the cleaners used possibly creating leaks... My mistake was that I did not call my mechanic of 35 plus years at home, when they advised me to get the additional work done. When I called him this morning he told me that this was "snake oil", that service centers try to add this on to charge you for an additional service. I went back today and talked to Jacob, at Service masters, and told him that I felt that I was taking advantage of. He said that they feel that it is an added service that benefits your car and that they " stand behind their products and will continue to recommend them"... I learned a available lesson, to check on all add on service work before you have them done at a service center that you've never used before...
