I really like this place. I was just in Collingwood for 2 weeks and went 3 times! Cute little cafe with local art on the walls, had a very cosy feel. The butternut squash soup is to die for. The mushroom soup is delicious too. And the grilled cheese sandwich was soo yummy. Service was a little slow both times, but fine if you're not in a hurry and friendly enough. This place came recommended from the shop next door and an excellent recommendation it was. I had the chicken crepe. It was just enough to satisfy a hunger that had been 3 hours in the making sitting in stop and go traffic. Although the food was excellent, the service was on the slower side, or maybe it was just us as we were all famished by the time we walked in. Everything came fresh and hot from the kitchen. Even tho the service was slow, our server was pleasant to deal with and as accommodating as he possibly could be. Not his fault that the food took a long time. Definitely on my short list! read more

Walking around the Elvis festival and wanted some good quality food, but not street meat. This place surprised us, the staff were super friendly, the menu was unique and the food was excellent. My fiancé and I ate breakfast here before hitting the slopes (February 2017) Amazing service! Our waitress was super friendly and bubbly! The food was delicious and we even received an extra piece of pea meal bacon! My fiancé and I don't eat potatoes and got tomato slices instead. We stopped in here on our way to Toronto and we were not impressed. The burger was good, but roasted potatoes were very oily. The coleslaw was ok, not great. Perhaps it's a Canadian thing, (I'm from the U.S.), but the "iced tea" was Snapple. Yuck. read more

Nice decor but food was okay. Wrap was average; western sandwich was average and the combo breakfast was little portion and average.

We strolled along Hurontario and came across Duncan's...so glad the Red Hen was closed (early) because this place was great! The atmosphere, service, price, quality and taste was spot on! I ordered the Classic Club House sammi and it had real oven roasted turkey on it...came with a side of home fried potatoes which were equally as tastey! My daughter ordered a Duncan burger and she ate it all even though she's an extremely fussy eater she didn't spend any time at all picking mysterious bits of who knows what out of her burger! I had the leek and potato soup, which was quite good. Serving portions were good. They served us at around 3:30, so it wasn't very busy. Waited forever for the server to take our order and the place wasn't even busy. Had the mulligatawny (most recently) and it was close to being the worst dish I've had in Collingwood. Waiter didn't check on us once the whole time. Apparently he was having a very interesting conversation with another employee. I looked around and there was another customer looking back at me with the same "wtf" look on his face. We have had a similar experience all three times we have gone. Fabulous breakfast spot. Clean with a modern country feel. Love the art work on the walls. Service is great, friendly. And, food was terrific. Pancakes were fluffy and loaded with blueberries. Absolutely love going to Duncan's Cafe when I visit my folks in Collingwood. The food is always amazing and fresh. Highly recommend the Atlantic Salmon in a Puff Pastry. Whenever we are in Collingwood, Duncan's Café is always the restaurant we visit. We stumbled upon it one hungry, Fall Saturday and immediately decided that this was the place for us. I have to agree with one of the previous reviews -- all of their soups are fantastic! I have tried every single one but the Mulligatawny soup stands out as our family favourite. Yes, it can get a little hectic on weekends but that is because the menu is great, the atmosphere is relaxed and casual, and the staff are friendly and attentive. We have brought friends from out-of-town to Duncan's and now they long for a revisit. Well worth a stop! read more

Me and my partner went here for lunch one afternoon after touring the main strip of Collingwood (which is adorable!). The place was pretty full but we got a table right away. The staff were immediately warm and welcoming upon arrival. We decided quickly as we were both getting hangry. I had the mushroom ravioli and my partner had the potato and leek soup and the steak sandwich. The soup came out first and boy was it ever DELICIOUS, likely the best potato and leek soup I've ever had (including my own!). It was creamy and smooth with a nice bite to it from the Stilton cheese added. It's really what dreams are made of. My ravioli came and it was excellent as well. I would say though if you are just a mushroom liker and not a mushroom lover you may not enjoy this dish. It is LOADED with mushrooms, inside the filling, sauteed on top and a giant portobello to finish it all off. Now I love mushrooms, so this was a great dish for me. The sauce was rich and cheesy, I was stuffed by the end. Our server was attentive and pleasant. If we are ever back in Collingwood, I will be back to have me some ravioli! read more

The soups here are just amazing! If you are looking for a meal, the large soup is all you need, it's huge, you could swim in the bowl! My wife had the potato, leek and stilton soup and I had the mulligatawny soup and both were delicious! We stopped for lunch and the service was excellent. The patio initially caught our eyes when we walked around main st to try and find a place for lunch. We arrived just before the lunch hour so didn't need to wait for a seat, I suggest arriving early as the place filled very quickly. We were still hoping to get breakfast food, but were out of luck. No biggie. I order the chicken pita which came with potato salad (~$10) and my friends both ordered the steak sandwich which came with choice of salad/ fries and potato salad, one came with a side of pototo wedges as well (both around $14). The portions were generous and everything was delicious. The only small complaint my friend had was that the steak was well done instead of medium that she had originally requested for. Other than that, she said it was one of the better steak sandwiches that she's had in a while. Service was good, not much to comment on. Overall, I would recommend giving this place a go. read more
