They always have a fun assortment of flavors of cupcakes but it's rather hit or miss what quality you will get. They have fun combinations and flavors and are always beautiful, but sometimes they are quite dense, sometimes super moist, and sometimes dry and will nearly choke you. My default cupcake is always the yellow cake with chocolate icing. I feel like it's hard to mess up. However, I tried a cookie this most recent time and didn't love it. Since it was warm outside and I had to drive back to Greensboro, I loved that the mini pies where refrigerated and the person at the counter, actually wrapped it up for me so it could stay cool on the ride home. The shop was inspired by his love for baking and encouragement from friends -- and some of those same friends actually work in the bakery today, which made the environment feel really welcoming. We also loved seeing how he collaborates with other local creatives. From merch designed by a local tattoo artist to candles and soaps made through local partnerships, you can really feel the community support inside the shop. Now for the desserts. We ordered a slice of quiche and a Danish to share. We asked for the quiche to have to have there, and the Danish to go, so asked to have it heated. They said they couldn't heat any food, but pointed us in to the microwave in the dining area which was a bit odd to me. Otherwise, the food was tasty. They've got a good bit of a seating inside with a laid back, relaxed feel. They've got some art on the walls, assuming from local artists for sale. They also have a small patio out front on the sidewalk. We did need to use the bathroom before leaving, which are locked, and you need to ask the staff for code to use them, which isn't something we're used to.
