DGD installed my original double garage door (hurricane reinforced) and extra tall in 2022 during the construction of my home. I did not have a choice as to the vendor the builder used so they used DGD. From the name, you would think that their prices are reasonable. Guess again. Exactly 14 months after the installation, I have had service twice to re-tighten the springs. Thankfully that was under warranty. And now that the warranty has expired, the track pins were sliding off and one side of the garage door was not completely closing by almost 12 inches. Service tech arrives and immediately provides two quotes. 1- just repair the imbalance for about $250 or 2- replace the track pins that were too short to begin with yet they installed them anyway knowing that they would need to be replaced at a later time. The cost to replace the pins and balance the door was $420. That price is absurd for a garage door that is just 1 year old! Then they offered a 30 year warranty for another $300 to cover basically the same things in the initial one year warranty. This company is like piranhas .. they sell you things that they know will need repairs so they have an opportunity to upsell you for quality materials that should have been part of the original installation. Next time I will look to a different service provider when it needs another adjustment or repair. I'm sure it will be cheaper without sneaky upselling techniques. read more

Felt like I was dealing with a car salesman, good guy, bad guy. Started out at 650, ended up at 465. Tried to up sell me with fear tactics. The person initially wanted to replace just about everything except what I wanted, which was a garage door spring. He was initially 950, with track rollers. Turns out another company came out just after he left and gave me a price of 385. The only reason I went with Discount Garage Doors is I couldn't get my door open and I couldn't leave the house until the spring was fixed and needed to get out. read more

I would not use this company again. They installed my door but never finished the trim. I was told someone would call to set appt to come back and finish. I was never contacted. I call them and they tell me they rescheduled me for a week later. Come that day, tropical storm comes so I'm cancelled, once again no phone call. I call to reschedule once again and they put me on a week later again when I won't be home. I try to contact scheduler to tell her it's a bad day and I am told once again someone will call me. Not holding my breath anymore. Hopefully will be finished by the end of the year. read more

My garage door came off the track on Sunday morning. Raymond came in on his day off and fixed it quickly. Very professional and polite. he had a total positive attitude and really made me feel that it was gonna get fixed one way or another. He did not push anything on me that I didn't want or try to sell me extra stuff. WHY HAVE AN APPOINTMENT -- THEY DONT SHOW UP. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Scheduled appointment to replace garage door springs and was told they would be there between 1-4PM. Received "courtesy call" that they are running late, will be closer to end of that time frame. Received another "courtesy call" at 4PM saying the technician was running late and they couldn't tell me when he would be there. The house is vacant and I had workers waiting for them. Rescheduled for following day, they gave me time frame 10-2PM. Same exact 2 "courtesy calls" received and by 5PM they still didn't show. My workers sat there and waited AGAIN for nothing. Women i spoke to on the phone were unapologetic and rude. Will never make the mistake of calling them again - much better services out there at comparable prices. read more

BUYERS BEWARE...Discount Garage Door Inc is Anything BUT a DISCOUNT... I called on them to replace the spring on my Garage Door earlier this summer...their service was good, and they arrived when they said they would arrive. The tech seemed knowledgeable and completed the work in a timely manner. I call them again just last week as the Logic Board needed to be replaced due to a short. Again, the tech arrived in a timely fashion...He quoted me $218. I asked if that included labor & tax, and he said yes... however I was charged $299. The parts were $218...after shopping around I found the most expensive exact match was from Sears at $117.09, received 4 more quotes ranging from $68-$88. I was charged another $57 for labor, another $22 for fuel/Misc & tax. I called the manager Linda thinking that she would at least match the price from Sears, or utilize their advertised coupon of 10% below a competitive written quote...but she did not. In fact, she firmly stood behind their exorbitant prices. She failed to realize that in this technological world we live in, competition is fierce. The only thing that separates them is their fair service, and pricing. Service was timely...but I would not recommend Discount Garage Doors, Inc. to anyone. There are far too many other options for far less....shop around!! read more

Used DGD about six months ago to rehab my garage door. I gave the company 5 stars at the time and they deserved it. This week I called because the keypad they installed stopped working. It took four days to schedule an appointment and the tech charged a previously unannounced $65 "reprogramming fee" which may be charged every time their keypad decides to stop working. I negotiated a car remote but since we generally don't park in the garage, I don't have a real use for it. Be warned. Company charges hidden fees. read more

Scheduled an appointment to get a garage door opener installed over a week in advanced and they called me the during my scheduled install time to let me know the tech forgot the opener at the warehouse and would have to reschedule. I recently had to replace my garage door due to hail damage. From start to finish, quote to installation, I was pleased with Discount Garage Doors. Everyone was polite,courteous, and professional. During the quote part of the process, suggestions were given to what might look best on our house but at no time did we ever feel pressured or up sold. They were patient while we waited for approval from our HOA and then prompt to place our order once approved. On installation day, two gentlemen arrived, Micky and a trainee. Both were professional, friendly, and made quick work of the job. Overall, I was very pleased with our choice and would make the same choice again! I wish I'd seen Steven R's review. I agree. They came on time, the repair person was polite and skilled and my garage door is happily working again. However, I paid $900 5 years ago for a whole new door while this spring/roller/bearing repair cost me $500. Mea culpa since i didn't shop around but I'd lived a week without the opener working and had had enough of getting soaked after work every day. I found DGD on Angie's List and they had a good rating. Of the two other companies who replied, one wanted to charge me $25 for the estimate and the other company was about a day late in replying. I should have listened to the voice in my head and gotten another estimate. It may have been just as much but I would have felt better. Also, the technician dropped quite a bit of the lubricant he used to grease the door on the garage floor. It took me a couple of days and grease tracked into the house before i realized where it was coming from. Thank goodness I have hardwood and not carpet. My advice - get at least one more estimate! read more
