I used them to replace broken springs in our previous house ~4 years ago, and since the experience was very positive, I decided to give them a call for an issue we were having in our new house. I left a message yesterday, and this morning I got a call-back, and after describing the issue, rather than coming out and charging me first thing, he asked me some additional questions, and then walked me through some steps to try, hoping it resolved the issue. I can't say enough about how impressed I am with Duke of Doors! Our garage spring broke! I was trapped inside as I couldn't get the door to open, not even with the release cord. Duke was extremely busy and with it being Memorial Day weekend, I am INCREDIBLY grateful and impressed that he was able to squeeze us in and had everything done in no time. We had our springs fail on our garage door on Friday morning. Luckily I was still able to get my car out. I called Duke of Doors on Saturday for a quote and the gentleman provided me a quote over the phone and said he can come by Monday. Of course I had called other places as well. They were either not available until later in the week or quoted us a bit more than Duke of Doors. Needless to say Duke of Doors speedy reply time and low cost made them the winner. We both work on Mondays but that wasnt a problem and they said we didnt have to be home. When I asked how he would get paid, they said we could settle up after the job was complete. I opted to leave cash with my neighbor which worked out very well. By the time we got home on Monday, our garage door was fixed and working perfectly. 17 days after I had Duke of Doors out to do some preventative maintenance on my garage door, the spring broke. When I contacted him about it, he did not appear to be sorry that it occurred, and was simply ready to come over and charge me for more service. While he explained after the fact that he has absolutely no accountability for what had happened to the spring (it could break while he is there and he would not be accountable for it breaking), I attempted to talk to him to try to figure out why this happened, but he just seemed offended that I had asked a question about something breaking 17 days after he had been out there. I am sure he is a nice guy other times, but I cannot recommend this company at this time. (My suggestion is to provide a waiver for people to sign before doing the work if you actually have no liability.) read more

I usually have mediocre luck when it comes to hiring a service company to fix something in my house. This time I found someone spectacular. My garage door spring broke at 3pm on the Friday of Labor Day weekend. While most of the country was leaving work early, Duke of Doors fit me in. They were here from 7:15-8:15pm and did not charge an overtime fee. While one guy replaced my springs, the other guy gave my door system a total tune-up. They tightened every bolt, lubed ever roller and hinge, and adjusted my door opener for optimum performance. No extra cost. They even fixed a light socket on the opener that never worked right! Now the door opens much quieter. These guys were very friendly, knowledgeable, and really looked out for me. They went way above and beyond my expectations. read more
