This is for the clinic portion on Medicine Circle off Trent. This area is much easier to manage than the main hospital. It's color coded and there's plenty of parking. You do have to walk across the indoor bridge to get there unless you valet park. They charge $2 an hour for parking. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Everything is done with an arm bracelet for things such as lab or testing. I had an appointment with neuromuscular department. The physicians and therapists are excellent. They're very thorough and up to date on current medicines and trials. The EMG center is in the same clinic so it's super convenient. Being part of the Duke portal is convenient for Atrium Wake Forest and Cone Health because all testing is visible and they can also see visit notes from the doctors. It makes it possible to see providers from different networks and not having to bring in or sign for your records to be shared. The facility is massive and the color system makes it easy to find your way. There are several labs so you don't have to walk a mile to get to one. Most walk in tests can accommodate with minimal waiting. It's about a quarter mile walk from the parking garage to the clinics so wear comfy shoes or walking device. You will have a lot of walking to do and there's limited seating in the main corridors. read more

Don't bother trying to establish care with a primary physician at Duke. If you go to their website, it will show you a list of physicians who are "currently taking patients." You can watch the videos of the doctors provide and select someone that fits your needs. You can take an hour or two reviewing the website and finding someone appropriate for you. However, when you call to schedule a new patient appointment, you will be told none of those doctors are available. In fact, only one doctor is available, and you will wait eight months to see that person. When I suggested that they update their website so prospective patients don't waste their time, I was told that is not possible. This is NOT providing care to the Durham community. Don't waste your time with Duke. read more

I waited in the Duke ER for several hours with a broken collarbone. I saw a doctor who quickly looked at my trays, and she said, "You don't have a broken collarbone." I asked why my collarbone was pushing on my skin? She quickly said that I did have a broken collarbone. She then told me that Duke wouldn't give me pain medication because I was a chronic pain patient due to brain surgery. She did offer me an arm sling in a box and quickly left the room. Duke ER is a complete waste of time! Go to UNC if you value your health. read more

This hospital has served my & some of my family's medical issues for years from early years ongoing- a great service globally and especially the triangle area- the specialty clinic in the main clinic building serves essential part of the ongoing health of myself and other patients- safety first - patients and visitors go through security checks. The valet parking staff is courteous and efficient- wheelchairs available- the checkin staff at the specialty clinic are also courteous and efficient- during my procedure many times- the nursing staff provides customized care with efficiency kindness and professionalism.The guys that do the checkin for valet service are cheerful courteous regardless of the weather as they stand outside to catalog each car and if wheelchair maybe needed! read more

Use the valet parking option----it is 1.00 more than the garage and hey it's valet. I almost lost my healthy daughter and my new grandbaby that came into the world two months early due to bad decisions. They had her labor for a day before deciding to do a cesarean and then when they did that she died on the table for a few moments and ended up cutting too low and doing a blood transfusion so it was a series of one bad decision after another that ended up being a life or death situation of what should have just been a normal cesarean and not making the moms blood pressure go so high that she could stroke out. Maybe I'm spoiled from having some of the best healthcare available in the midwest available to me but I just felt like a number here and thankful we made it out alive. I don't understand why they are considered a great choice for medical care but I would say explore your alternative options. read more

Love Duke the medical care is top notch, for all the money they put into their medical facilities you could think they would hire an adequate cleaning crew! Every place i walk there is trash, everyplace I go to touch is filthy, bathrooms are nasty (quite wearing flip flop afraid of standing in urine). Now let get to the few restaurants they have, if you are going to work in food service please be nice!! Hire a better cleaning company and more of them!! read more

i have heard so much of duke never would have i expected to get such terrible service and experience from giving birth to my very first children when i had my twins at duke hospital september 6 2023 i had covid and had to get a c section the nurses left my food outside for hours because they didn't want to be around me cause i'm sick i just had twins and didn't get my food till the nurses changed shift every everyday in the hospital i didn't get my food until a nurse changed shifts my food was so cold by then i didn't want to eat it my kids where premature and had to go to the nicu the nurses in the nicu where very racist and evil they didn't want to let me see my children they was rude they called child services on me three times because they did not like me they gave my daughter fomula causing blood in her stool after i strictly requested my kids receive breast milk they threatened to keep my chils in the nicu if i didn't agree to give my kids formula and never miss a doctors appointment i suffered postpartum so bad because my child couldn't come home due to being held hostage i would never recommend such a sick hospital to anyone!!! the care quality is sicking read more

I want to thank the Staff at Duke Hospital Ed and the pediatric staff. Our grandson was admitted on Thanksgiving and received incredible care in the emergency department and then on the pediatric floor. The physicians and nurses were absolutely outstanding. The hospital is very nice, the MEDICAL staff is pretty awesome and they know it. Elite. But the cafeteria staff are pretty sorry... it's been months and I am still sore about having to order breakfast, or dish up lunch in that cafeteria 3 days/week for 4 months. Also the bathrooms are always in shambles! Toilet paper everywhere, dirty commodes, nasty floors, wet counters... I got so sick of seeing those bathrooms. I miss the staff at Duke, they are what really make that hospital something else. I'm sorry for the previous review... doctors are usually thinking of the best for the patient, but maybe there was poor communication on why medications were being adjusted? I've only heard good things from patients I have met at Duke, so this is unfortunate. I would trust my nearest family members lives in Duke's hands. read more

I'm I'm here now and my Dr refuses to give me the dosage of meds I take at home. Won't listen to me. Doesn't care that I'm nauseous and in severe pain. All hospitals are the same the patient has to fight for care. Dr Ross doesn't care about the patient won't listen to the patient most uncaring person I've met. She is going to be a horrible dr.
