Duffy's Pub has a great thing going for it - $1 Burger Wednesdays. Of course they charge you an arm-and-a-leg for any extra toppings, but just getting the burger plain and adding some ketchup is fine by me. $1 Burger Wednesdays is the reason I give the place 4-stars instead of 3. The waitstaff is hit or miss, I've have had excellent service right down to terrible. However, the people at Duffy's have been very accommodating for the two large parties I have been to there, they practically rearranged half of the bar for one large party! The food is good bar food. I've had the burgers of course as well as different soup specials, chicken fingers, a few different sandwiches and it has all been good, but not great. Quante local bar. I usually head in on wednesdays for dollar burger day, which we've been lucky enough to have Loretta wait on us enough that she provides fast, friendly, and accurate service while remembering who we are and what we order. The atmosphere is like most small local bars you'd find in a small downtown setting. You'll find all your favorite locals sitting around enjoying good drinks, sports on their many tvs, and clean surroundings. This bar is worth a stop in anyday, but definatly go f their 1/2 lb dollar burgers! read more

Duffys is a great bar or you can enjoy some good food, watch sports with friends or strangers, listen to music either on a jukebox or a live band or karaoke and drink. They do have a pool table and darts as well. read more

I read all the bitching and don't see it. I go here and love it. Stay in Bloomfield Hills and pay 3 times required for beer and burger served by someone who kisses your ass if that is your preference. It is your money, waste it any way you want. From the minute I entered I was asked and have been addressed by name. The waitstaff have been wonderful, kind and attentive every time I have gone here. These folks work hard to serve you. The bar discounts the burger to a dollar to get you in. The waitstaff suffers by your 20 cent tip. They require your tips to make a living. Tip on full price. Attitude is a result of respect. Give it to get it. I personally love the pithy attitude of the staff. It is directed at ME, not anyone else, ME. It is not insulting, just banter. They know ME and play to my quirks. That requires a direct interest and knowledge of ME. They always respect ME. In other words they are happy to see ME and let ME know every time. How can you not love that? This place gets 2 stars for simply having alcohol and not being on fire, otherwise every aspect of it is disappointing. There's not many bar options in downtown Auburn Hills, but thats no reason to go here. I had a friend visiting from out of town and the only reason we came here was because I live down the street. Luckily we had a night of fun before making this the last stop on the way home. I understand mood lighting but it was excessively dark to the point where we almost couldn't see each other or read the menu. They also have live music regularly unfortunately that's made less cool by the fact that the bands always suck and the audio equipment sounds so terrible that even if they were good it would be completely ruined. As other reviews of mentioned don't expect good customer service in any sense of the word from the waitstaff. Slow and inattentive to say the least. You may get good service if you're one of the regulars but as I would describe the regular clientele there as "Dirt McGirts" that's definitely not something you want to be. It also smelled bad when I visited but that may just be a coincidence. My buddy and I each had a shot and split a pitcher of beer but we ended up chugging that because by that point we couldn't wait to pay and get away from the loud, awful band and the nasty goons dancing near the "stage." (I mean, imagine you're on a road trip and stop in at a shell gas station at 1am in a rural town to refuel and the "been chain smoking since she was 13 with leathery Willy Nelson type skin that would be working the counter" person. Thats the clientele that was drunkenly dancing that night). Also one last thing and sorry to continually to be so cruel, but there was a kid who apparently works there celebrating his 21st birthday that night and I understand it's his 21st birthday but he was clearly overserved. He kept coming up to me and my buddy to talk to us and I think he was trying to get us to buy him a drink but as he could barely stand nor talk without slurring his words that definitely wasn't going to happen and another reason we wanted to get out. My partner and I were really craving a burger and found a killer deal at Bar Louie on Tuesday. We went in, sat down and waited patiently for about 25 minutes to be acknowledged. We are very understanding of the workforce crisis in service jobs. We then moved to a recently bussed table hoping to be more visible. Nothing for another 35 minutes. We decided we've been wanting to go to Duffy's for a while, and regardless of a deal or happy hour, we'd head there. Within seconds Lisa, from behind the bar, let us know to sit anywhere. A minute later she was at our table ready to take our drink order. It was pretty busy and Lisa appeared to be the only customer facing employee and was both bar tending and running tables. She absolutely killed it and turned our frustrating evening into a spot we are legitimately excited to go back to. The food was great and the drinks were flowing! Food and prices are pretty darn good. Service was a problem until recently but they have removed most of the problem employees and seems much better now. Of coarse you can never please everyone. One reviewer incredibly complained that his $1 half pound burger didn't come with free toppings!!!!! Dude, stay at home if you are that cheap!!! I feel really bad for server that had to serve this cheap fool. Bar Louie has a dollar burger night but they are tiny little things, kinda like a slider - bad ones at that. I'm stunned and a bit pissed off to be frank. I stopped in here today around 3:00 because I'd be working late, missed lunch, and it is close to the office. The bar is fine - standard local pub with an Irish name, no problems there. Decent beer selection and menu. So what's wrong???? I've never had worse service in any restaurant ever and I have a very low bar and high tolerance having worked in the food industry for a long time. The bartender came by didn't say hi or anything. She stood there and I tried to make a little joke to no avail. I ordered a beer and asked for a menu. 10 minutes go by...no worries she is busy watching Keno with the bar regulars.....15 minutes go by...no worries she is busy watching Keno with the bar regulars....20 minutes go by and yes wait is it true....nope she walks past me to the regular next to me to get his Keno slip...no eye contact or a hardy FU to me. She brings his new slip back and...yes wait is it....nope she takes another Keno ticket. Finally after 1/2 hour she say "what do you want?" I get a chicken sandwich after I text my boss I'll now be late back to the office. The bell rings and my sandwich is ready. She picks it up and instead of giving it to me she stands with it talking to another regular. After a few minutes she walks up to me and tosses it at me....no "do you need anything? Condiments? I'm practically becoming a regular here! My friend and I have really begun to dig this place and if we ever meet for a drink after work, we inevitably end up at Duffy's. The bartenders and servers are friendly and laid back, the drinks are very reasonably priced and the food is pretty good! I like their cheeseburger because, to me, it is a wonderful hybrid of bar burger and fast food burger. I don't know how to explain it beyond that. It's good, though! read more

Yes..it is true...Elvis IS not dead and is alive and well at Duffy's. This is not just a sighting, but a confirmed encounter with the man himself. Yes, I TALKED to Elvis and even enjoyed one of the greatest hamburgers I have ever had in memory. My great cousin was in town and had invited me out for $1 hamburger on a Wednesday night. My initial reaction was "no thank you", because I had 2 Whopper Jr's for lunch that day and limit my beef intake to once every few weeks due to health. After a Pint of my finest loves, Labatt (a perk for living in the North Midwest), I caved in and reluctantly ordered a burger. After all, I need not eat the whole thing...I could eat half or 2/3rds and get rid of the evidence before my paranoid health conscience second personality (out of 27) sees what I had done. Well the burger came and it was a very nice sized burger on a nice bun with some fries to boot. I took a bite and WOOOOOWWWWWW it was tender, flakey and full of flavor. I had ordered it Medum Well and it was "Very Well Done"! I am writing this because I was searching for the address on a Sunday morning craving a 'fix' for this phenom of a burger. If, whenever I leave this area, would literally have this destination on my culinary map and rave about this place for time to come. It is NOT just about the delicious hamburger, but about the great staff that served me, the owners who are so friendly and the fantastic and friendly patrons who I was so happy to have met while there. This is more than a friendly neighborhood bar, it remindd me so much of some of the great Chicago neighborhood bars, which I hold in the highest esteem. Wednesday may be $1 burger nights, but for me, I would go there Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday. Friday Saturday or Sunday (as I hope to today). I can not speak highly enough of this bar where my first impression of the place was through the roof! All of this and on top of it all, you can even talk to the great Gary Mettie (this is Elvis' actual birth name...call the tabloids!), a renowned pitcher with the noteriety of playing with the great Dave DeBusschere (yes, of basketball fame) at Austin High and University of Detroit..this is...Elvis. A fantastic character of a guy to ever meet, he is great friends with my cousin Myles and I was honored to meet this great man at this great bar. While this is a place too far for me to go to regularly, I would encourage, no matter how far you have to drive, to experience this fantastic bar with fantastic hamburgers, superb staff, the most friendliest of patrons and...heck...a chance to speak to Elvis himself! Stopped by for a quick dinner. Had a promotion coupon for a free entree with purchase but would have enjoyed both dinners @ full price (which was very reasonable) . Limited menu but enough for just about everyone to find something to their liking. Keep in mind this is a bar and there was smoking but it was not intolerable. Wait staff was friendly and prompt. Went here to hear my favorite band "The Laughing Madmen." It was their first performance here and the place was packed. The place isn't huge but I like how it's designed. Service was great and if I lived in the area this would definitely be my neighborhood pub. read more

So last night for Valentine's Day we all met here to celebrate a birthday. Friends of ours always go here Wednesday night apparently it is Burger night and I guess they are amazingly good with a basket of fries. I ordered a grilled chicken salad which had grilled onions and Lisa, the waitress, suggested the ranch made-in-house dressing and she was right it was really good. Lisa got right down to business taking care of many of our requests and our needs and the night was quite enjoyable. Prices were really reasonable and there was no wait for a table. If your looking for a place to relax and have a drink durring happy hour till 10 pm and your 55 to 75 you'll fit in great there. I just moved to the area and looking for a local watering hole. What can be better than a local Irish pub I thought? I walked into the bar with a few locals and their favorite macro beers. Being a fan of many different beers from different flavors I asked if they had a beer menu. The bar maid said they didn't have one. Ok, no problem I said. "Do you have any IPA's"? We have Bells Two Hearted on tap. Nice start I thought, what Porters and Stouts do you have? " Umm, what are those" was the reply. "I know nothing about beer". This is a pub named "Duffy's" I thought. Never mind then you obviously don't have any I say. Well just give me some names she says rudely. I said that a Two Hearted would be just fine. The tap was clean and the beer tasted fine, but the whole time I was there the staff was bitching about the other employees and the owner. They had no issue using a lot of profanity in front of the customer which I was not offended by, but was not impressed by either. After hanging out for two beers I decided that I will look for another local establishment to quench my thirst on a regular basis as the locals seem to be more important than new clientele which is a shame as I was looking to find a place to be a regular and I don't think this is the place for my friends and me. If I was the owner I would take a look at the employees and make a few decisions as to whom was working for me. They seem to have a lack of respect for the ownership. In addition I would take a look at introducing some beers that appeal to a larger group than a few locals. This place has a lot of potential. read more

This place is a dive. My husband said even the mens bathroom was s dive. Of course I did not venture into the ladies room after he said that! The service was good. The live band was LOUD - we couldn't even talk to each other sitting right next to each other. We only had drinks and they were pricey for such a old type of bar. Older clientele. Don't like the smokers directly out front as when they open the door to come back in the smoke comes in too, Plus you have to walk through it to get out. Tried the DOLLAR burgers. They were WELL done(burnt) and tasted bad. The waitress neglected to tell us that a piece of lettuce, a slice of onion and a cold tasteless almost frozen tomato slice were an extra $.75 each ( $2.25 total) WTF?????. That made are dollar burger $3.25. Thank God we did not order cheese, I would have had to go to the ATM. Cant imagine what they soak you on with the dollar tacos! They are starting to develop a reputation for serving under age patrons. Lots of rumors and heresay but there is something unusual when you try to research the Liquor License. Food is OK, but I will never go back due to the oldest waitress & the youngest that work there. I have always been a good tipper, but for once I didn't leave a tip due to the horrible service and wrote a note on my bill telling her why. This was the 3rd time I was left with my cup empty and nothing to drink and she never returned until bill time. I asked the youngest waitress (not my waitress) three times for a refill because she kept walking by and the first two times she said OK and the third time she stated that she wasn't my waitress. So I left that day thirsty and then I returned the following week and she (oldest waitress) brought everybody food except for me and stated whoops I must have forgot to put the other order in and she never even looked at me the entire time when she said that nor apologized. She purposely didn't serve me because I didn't leave her a tip last week, but isn't that the point of a tip. Great service= great tip, good service= good tip, poor service little tip, left thirsty 3weeks in a row =Sorry, no tip. I'm not the incompetent one, but I was the one that suffered with nothing to drink. She just cost the bar owner $$ as I always get extra food and a drink every time where as others just come for the $1 burger. Anyways horrible service, I will not be returning to Duffy's due to the poor service.
