I chatted with Kristina before booking her in to Howl-a-Day and she instantly put me at ease. She understood Pipers needs and didn't have a problem accommodating them. Because they have indoor/outdoor runs, Piper was able to stay separate from other dogs and humans and still get outside for play and potty time. :) When a snowstorm hit the morning, I was supposed to pick Piper up and I couldn't get out of Anchorage, she was able to keep Piper for an extra day no problem! Will definitely book with Howl-a-Day again! It's great to have another resource for boarding when unexpected travel comes up!

We took our young German Shepherd here for two weeks of boarding and some training. She was eight…read moremonths old. The owner put her in an ecollar and when we went to visit and check her progress she was thin and had picked up lice. She was terrified. She was supposed to stay longer but I was crying when we left without her and I told my husband to turn around and we went back and took her home. That was when we found the lice. I was devastated that we had unwittingly put our young dog in this situation. This was several years ago but... Beware!

My husband dropped her off and gave him a full tour and showed him where she would stay (in a HUGE room with a couch and all.) Not only was the place super clean, but everyone was so kind! I just discovered they take pictures and post them on their Facebook EVERY DAY. I'm WOWED to say the least. When I went to pick her up they also gave me a tour, and she just looked happy as can be. 10/10 I'm so so happy with them and thank them very much for taking care of my baby!

(Our previous 2 dogs loved going here too as they have a "geriatric" room that is quieter and sectioned off from the main part of the kennel so it's a bit quieter for the older dogs). The runs are good sized, we keep our 2 dogs together in 1 run, as many people do. They get beds that are raised up off the floor, and blankets. I think they will also give them toys to have in the run, but we have 1 that will ingest stuff like that so we skip that part. Debbie and her staff are great with the dogs and are always happy to see them when they arrive. They offer grooming and also have a separate room for boarding cats. One of my dogs has a thing about having his toes touched, so we rarely get to trim his nails at home. We've tried at the vets office too, but someone is usually holding him down and there is a lot of flailing and almost no nail trimming. I asked TLC to trim his nails several trips ago and they said he LOVES it when they do it and has no issues, so now that is part of his trip to the kennel as well. Dogs are taken out to several fenced play yards a few times a day. Mine always come home exhausted. I love TLC Kennel and wouldn't take my dogs (my children) anywhere else.

Because he was at the end stage of his life, they took special care of him, keeping him basically on one on one care. He passed while I was on vacation. TLC contacted me immediately, and were so amazingly compassionate, and offered to take him to cremation place of no extra cost. Recently, my ridgeback, Ozzie was at TLC while I was in Europe, and they rushed him to emergency vets, due to unforeseen emergency related to his stomach constricting, resulting in a life or death situation. It was recognized immediately, and he was immediately taken vet. His life threatening condition ended well thank you to TLC!! They kept Ozzie in cuddle room after his surgery the rest of his stay, and was totally pampered. TLC are passionate about caring for your pet for their individual needs, and very knowledgeable related to safety. Highly recommend TLC!! You know your in a great Kennel when you arrive, and your pets are eager to be there, instead of, oh no Mom, your leaving me, as your are trying to coach them inside. My 2 dogs love being there. That makes it so much more reassuring leaving them behind.

I found that they didn't communicate with me appropriately or as often as I would have liked. They didn't allow dogs to play or interact with each other especially if they were large dogs, so they were crated the whole time. They allowed my dog to sit in her urine, so when I visited she smelled of urine. In the end, she starved to death. She also took no accountability, the first thing she said was "I hope you're not mad at me, this wasn't my fault" but she was under their care. Animal control was called on her, and because they had 1 video of them feeding her, and because of Zoe's history with anxiety they aren't going to charge her. So, if you have a pet with issues, find another location.

First of all, the paperwork is 8 pages per dog...I don't even fill out vet paperwork that long. Secondly, they have a 3 step long process "to be accepted" to board with them, so if you work full time- good luck. During this meet & greet, I was spoken to (or lectured) like a 12 year old by the owner, Tim, regarding my dog's separation anxiety while separated from the my other dog in the car. I was also swiftly lectured about both the vet's and my decision to wait a little longer to neuter our 8mo old puppy. Overall did not appreciate the interrogation style this owner took with me. I doubt he would have taken this aggressive and lecturing tone with my husband, but we'll never know because he was so rude and dismissive of me. Though I do not doubt his plethora of knowledge about dogs, but what he has in knowledge he lacks in people skills.

Randy and Tony are so good not only with Shep, but all the dogs that go there. It is such a happy, positive place. When boarding, they do not kennel dogs, rather they never leave any dog alone so there is no fear of separation anxiety or loneliness. I like that they also have kennel-less boarding, so that the dogs have the run of the place instead of possibly being stuck next to some incessantly barking dog in the run next to them (which I've seen at a number of kennels), and they have a person there with them the whole night that they can curl up next to. The bonus of being able to use them for both day care and boarding is that your dog is comfortable in a place they know with people they know and love when you have to go away. Two thumbs up!
