The boys got baths and nail trims. They smell so fresh and have the cutest little bandanas on, and remarkably, their nail trims were successful. I don't know how the staff did it, but Amos has never successfully had his nails trimmed anywhere else. He is a shy dog and he gets grumpy about his nails, so I think it speaks volumes to the level of trust the staff built with him in just a week. Pretty amazing! If you need to board a pet, Lakeside Pet Retreat is a must.

My husband dropped her off and gave him a full tour and showed him where she would stay (in a HUGE room with a couch and all.) Not only was the place super clean, but everyone was so kind! I just discovered they take pictures and post them on their Facebook EVERY DAY. I'm WOWED to say the least. When I went to pick her up they also gave me a tour, and she just looked happy as can be. 10/10 I'm so so happy with them and thank them very much for taking care of my baby!

It's really very clear how much Randy does love his dogs and cares for them. All of the dogs had a distinctive personality and were trained and disciplined amazingly well. At first it was a little bit alarming. When we drove in the dogs started going nuts - baying, barking, howling. They were all chained to their own little location and they were jumping all over the place. It looked a little disturbing at first, but over the course of the session, Randy explained how since it had been raining the past couple of days the dogs hadn't been able to run like they typically do. They were all so excited at the prospect of being able to go running that they were literally flipping out when they saw us (finally a customer!) It became apparent that their excitement wasn't pent up aggression when the dogs who were chosen immediately calmed down, did as instructed, and proceeded to pee and poo immediately as they got ready for the trip. (hilarious!) After our trip, not a bark was heard, not even from the dogs who weren't chosen to run. They understood the opportunity to run was over, so they waited up for next time. All in all, Randy was great, answered a ton of our questions, and had a neat little museum set up that had a ton of great facts about the iditarod and his experience during it. Despite the name, not too many huskies here, mostly mutts, but some very spirited characters in his pack. No puppies :( For $35 it's certainly much cheaper than all of the other options that we saw. Other experiences were located in higher trafficked areas and well publicized, and sometimes twice the price. Huskytown is definitely a great option worth considering. I felt like I got a genuine look at how a small kennel operates.

When we dropped them off they placed them in the yard. we brought their stuff in and they showed us their space. That was it and then we left. It was quite rushed. When they called they said your dogs are scared and won't let us approach them so you need to come pick them up. I asked if we could sit with them till they become comfortable and were told no but we could talk about it when we get there. They already had all of our stuff packed up and there was no real discussion. They said they had a schedule they needed to keep and this wasn't the place for our dogs. There was no working with us or attempt to try to make the dogs comfortable. In the end we had no choice but to cancel the vacation because boarding facilities are all full because of the Holiday. What a crappy thing to do to people to not even attempt to work with you especially since they offer 2 different drop off times of morning and evening.

They also offer advantix, teeth cleaning, nail trimming, etc. So it's great that she can have that all done while she's at school. Piper has trouble…read moretrusting both humans and dogs so it has been a challenge to find places that will take her on for boarding. I chatted with Kristina before booking her in to Howl-a-Day and she instantly put me at ease. She understood Pipers needs and didn't have a problem accommodating them. Because they have indoor/outdoor runs, Piper was able to stay separate from other dogs and humans and still get outside for play and potty time. :) When a snowstorm hit the morning, I was supposed to pick Piper up and I couldn't get out of Anchorage, she was able to keep Piper for an extra day no problem! Will definitely book with Howl-a-Day again! It's great to have another resource for boarding when unexpected travel comes up!

We took our young German Shepherd here for two weeks of boarding and some training. She was eight…read moremonths old. The owner put her in an ecollar and when we went to visit and check her progress she was thin and had picked up lice. She was terrified. She was supposed to stay longer but I was crying when we left without her and I told my husband to turn around and we went back and took her home. That was when we found the lice. I was devastated that we had unwittingly put our young dog in this situation. This was several years ago but... Beware!
