She then proceeded to clear another table while we continued to wait. There were several open tables, including the booth we had sat in the day before. I mentioned that it was our anniversary and asked if we could sit there. The owner told us no because it was reserved for a larger party. However, throughout our entire meal and until we left, no one ever sat at that booth or any of the other open tables. To make matters worse, another party of four later asked to move to that exact booth and was allowed to sit there. We also ordered specialty coffee drinks that were quite expensive, but they didn't arrive until after our food was served. Then, while eating, I bit into the seed that had been left in the avocado. It was especially disappointing because our first visit had been so positive. We chose to come back to celebrate a special occasion, but the poor communication, inconsistent treatment of guests, and issues with the food and service left us frustrated. Unfortunately, what started as a great first impression turned into a disappointing anniversary experience. We expected much better, especially from the owner.

Duck Donuts is the kind of place that makes you question every donut you've ever eaten before. These things are made fresh to order... not pulled from a rack that's been sitting around since the previous presidential administration. Run to this place and don't waste a second wondering if it's worth it. The donuts are thick, moist, delicious cake donuts. Not those light, airy circles of disappointment from a place that rhymes with Shmunkin's. Every bite feels substantial... like you're eating an actual dessert instead of sweetened oxygen. You can customize them with a ridiculous number of frostings and toppings. And by "customize," I mostly mean they'll find creative ways to inject buttercream into things... which is exactly how I'd like my obituary to read. The two kids working behind the counter appeared to be family members of the owner, which was honestly adorable. The whole place has that family business charm where everyone seems genuinely happy to be there. I couldn't recommend this place any more highly. If you're on Hilton Head and don't stop at Duck Donuts, you've made a serious tactical error. read more

The service was exceptional, a perfect 10/10. The owner was incredibly kind, personable, and made our first visit memorable by gifting us a mini rubber duck. He took the time to explain how the store operates and even recommended his favorite donuts (definitely try the French Toast!). The service was prompt, and everything was prepared to perfection. The staff was highly respectful, addressing us as 'ma'am' and 'sir' throughout our visit, despite us being much younger than the owner and employees. As an added touch, we were given a complimentary plain donut to enjoy while we waited. I highly recommend this place to both locals and visitors alike--we'll certainly be returning and are already looking forward to it. read more

Wow! Such a great experience at Duck Doughnuts At Hilton Head! We showed up at 2:03pm not realizing they closed at 2. As we turned to walk away disappointed, Scott opened the door to greet us and ask what we were hoping to get. He and Judy then made us a batch of a dozen delicious assorted doughnuts.
