Not being from the area I had no idea of what to do or where to go. By suggestion of a friend at the time I had it towed there. I called the next day and set everything up with them to have it fixed and was promised the world. Was told it would be repaired in a timely manner. 6months pass of calling them and them almost never answering the phone only to find out it wasn't fixed yet. The owner kept claiming "I'm still trying to find the parts". So another 5 months of this passes with the same story. And I being to really question this guy's integrity. After seeing the rack of negative 1 star reviews on Google I get extremely nervous about this whole ordeal with this dude and look up the part myself and what do ya know? I found it myself in 15min. I ordered the part after asking them once more about repairing my car and got the same runaround. I informed them I would be having someone pick up my car soon and asked about storage fees if there were any? They told me "No but don't worry about it and sorry we couldn't fix your car" So, a few weeks later I finally get the money to get my car picked up, after paying for a transport and a the money for the part. I receive a call from the transport company about the fact they won't release my car and claiming I owe them an exorbitant amount of money for "Storage and towing" Because he had to move it around his lot. I don't see where that's my problem when the reality of it all is this was directly due to their incompetence and or just outright predatorial practice. Once I finally got them on the phone and began to call them out on this they began to get extremely argutive and combative which then led to them slandering me and calling me a stupid fucking retard along with many other names. I am on the spectrum and also have suffered a TBI. This was not only insulting to me but very hurtful and damaging to me. NEVER! and I repeat NEVER take your car to this shop for ANY reason! This place has a history of what looks like this type of behavior and practice. People claiming he broke their car and tried to glue parts back on and after being called out on it with the owner Ricky Halcomb (who is also the one who slandered me) reacted in a similar manner as he did with me. Yet posts Christian quotes on his FB page and claims to be a "Godly" man. But what happened to "Thou shall not bare false witness"?

Here's my story: I was driving from Charlotte to Greenville, NC for work in the rain and fog, after a full day. I had known one of my tail lights was out prior to my drive, but when two cars flashed their lights at me from behind I pulled off the exit and realized both of my tail lights were out. And since here's so much construction and the storm, I didn't feel safe driving. I googled mechanics and found Randy Halls automotive was the closest. I stopped by 4 minutes before he closed and he initially advised that he can help me in the morning. Since I had to be in Greenville for work the next morning at 9 and I knew I couldn't drive in the storm with no tail lights, I decided I'd just get a hotel in Salisbury and restart in the morning. But as I was sitting in my car, about to reserve a hotel nearby, Randy knocked on my window and told me to pull up and he'll check my bulbs for me. He was able to get new bulbs in my tail lights!! He saved me over $100 on the hotel and made me feel so much safer continuing my 4 hour night drive and literally made my crappy day brighter (pun intended!)! Thank you so much and I'd highly recommend this place!!

This place is now called Central Automotive…read more A family member, who works a full-time job during the week, took on a second job, working 12-hour nursing shifts every Saturday and Sunday for months without a single day off, just to save enough money to surprise her husband with a Jeep for his 40th birthday. It was an incredible sacrifice, and she was so excited to make this gift special. She brought the Jeep to Central Automotive several times for repairs and maintenance to get it ready. On June 24, she returned because the check engine light had come back on. The shop diagnosed additional repairs totaling about $1,000, which she authorized. On July 1, she picked up the Jeep to take it to the local Jeep dealership so they could clear a code the shop couldn't clear. That's when the dealership discovered the catalytic converter was missing--it had been stolen while the Jeep was in this shop's possession. When you leave your vehicle with a repair shop, you should be able to trust that it will be returned in the same condition, aside from the repairs you authorized. That basic expectation was completely shattered. A vehicle left in the care of a professional repair facility should not come back missing major components because it was left vulnerable to theft. Instead of taking responsibility and working through their insurance, the shop gave her the runaround for more than a week. She was first presented with an outrageous $8,000 estimate to replace the catalytic converter, then later offered a reduced quote of about $1,600, claiming they weren't charging labor. Regardless of how they justified the pricing, she still ended up paying out of pocket to replace a part that was stolen while the Jeep was in their custody. What makes this even more concerning is that vehicles are routinely left outside overnight despite the shop having multiple service bays where they could potentially be secured. If this is how customer vehicles are handled, then anyone considering leaving a vehicle here should understand that there is apparently no guarantee it will be adequately protected while in the shop's care. Customers entrust repair shops with some of their most valuable possessions, and that trust means taking reasonable steps to safeguard them--not leaving them exposed and then expecting the customer to absorb the loss if something is stolen. Before posting this review, I reached out to the shop myself in the hope that they would acknowledge what happened and make things right. Unfortunately, my attempt to contact the shop received no response, so small claims court it is. The financial burden was frustrating enough, but what was really heartbreaking was seeing the excitement surrounding this special birthday gift disappear. What should have been one of the happiest moments for their family became stressful, expensive, and deeply disappointing because of the shop's lack of accountability. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this business. If you leave your vehicle here, understand that if something happens to it while it is in their possession, you may be left paying the price yourself.
