I consider her a bit of a hidden treasure in Columbus. She is extremely skillful and a remarkable instructor. My son and daughter attended from the ages of about 5 -14, both achieving black belts in Tae Kwon Do: they loved it and her. I achieved a 2nd Dan black belt and was never in better shape. She has promoted over 100 students to black belt. Her awards and accomplishments are too many to list here. She is especially good with children as a teacher and mentor. She also has experience teaching children with ADHD/ADD, as well as mildly autistic, deaf, and special needs children and adults. At all hours, children would be in her studio and office, practicing forms, talking, doing homework, and relaxing. It was like an after school club for teenagers. The studio is inviting, warm, and friendly, not competitive or aggressive at all. After a while, going there felt like being part of big family.

Every second I am in that gym, I feel welcome and secure. I know that I am getting the best training I possibly can and my coaches are focused on me more than anything. The optional and compulsory coaches (these are the coaches I have worked with personally) are extremely kind, but they push each gymnast to be the best they can. Everyone in the sport of gymnastics knows that it is not easy, and a coach cannot be all rainbows and sunshine every day. The coaches at universal make sure that you come first and teaching you is the top of their priority list. On a different subject; the front desk and office staff are incredibly nice and helpful. Every gymnast can always easily be stocked with tape, grips, etc. with their help. As a gymnast, this is by far one of the best gyms you can go to in order to reach your goals and know that you have a ton of people supporting you through thick and thin.

"Old school" in the sense it's minimalist because you don't need a lot of fancy equipment for your coach to teach you martial arts. Also "old school" because the coaches are professionally trained - clearly taking mutual respect for coach and student as well as seriousness of your training program to heart. But - they meet you where you are - just push you to be your best. Here's my personal example: In California, I used to box in a micro gym (pre-COVID) then I had a personal trainer that I had to let go. Since November I have not been able to find a replacement. I came to Ohio for the fall and by happenstance landed here for a trial class. Bob gave me a full hour of mitts and noodles and got me back to training with the patience of a saint and the teachings of an expert.
