If I were a college student looking for a cheap place to stay with a bunch of my friends near Temple Bar, this probably would be a great hotel. But, I'm almost 60 and needed temporary lodging for a month, and this did not suit my needs well. Our room had two small bedrooms (one queen bed and one with two twins), and the cozy main room had two fold-out sofas. The beds were good and the bathroom was nicely updated, but the furniture in the main room was substandard. The two "sofas" were in poor condition (ripped) and started as poorly-constructed dorm-room furniture when new (perhaps a decade ago). They were terribly uncomfortable, with bars that poked through the worn pads. It is clear these were much more intended to be fold-out beds than sofas, and they were so awkward that we were almost unable to use them during our stay. Meanwhile, the large dining room table was missing a pad under one foot, so it would wobble dangerously (which we learned the hard way with a glass of water on the top). I had to adjust the pads to prevent further accidents. There were other minor annoyances. If you need to cool down the unit, it can be quite loud with street noise and a bar across the street. (I learned a few football chants thanks to late-night parties.) The elevator needed some repair, with broken call buttons on a couple of floors. And our room had an odd closet that looked like someone forgot to finish the job of constructing it. The one positive thing here was the staff. The cleaning crew was professional, and most of the desk staff was very helpful, particularly the day crew. (The staff here lifted what would've been a two-star review to three stars.) I cannot understand how some of the rooms could be so nice (according to photos) and others so very, very different. I expect a bit more consistency in a hotel, so I would not be encouraged to stay in another Staycity property.

Finally after ten minutes in the rain a resident let us in and they let us know that yesterday a family friend had come by to let them in after getting drunk at bar but they had not been able to contact owners. We waited in the hallway and tried calling multiple times. When we had to use the restroom, the resident stated that their toilet wasn't working. We ended up getting the place next door last minute and it's been seven hours, still haven't heard anything from this place. Would not recommend - made the beginning of our stay much more stressful especially after a long flight.

For some reason all of the interior doors are set to close automatically, including the doors into the living room, making it difficult to change the awkward layout into something more open via something as basic as KEEPING DOORS OPEN. There is a decent amount of adventure in the estate, which is massive and with a great scenic view; and yet at no point did i feel unsafe or that there was room for risk. we were a bunch of friends and a family with 2kids under 10 were taking part too. we all had the same amount of fun. Words of advice: your body temperature is going up amd down, be prepare for both. there were no tea/coffee facility when we came which is a real pity so you mihht bring ur own water.we ve been told june onwards is mad busy so booking well ahead is crucial. If you re only interested in the accommodation part of their activity, lets be honest, the houses are ugly unfinished looking things. didnt check the inside tho. i guess the amazing view and the remoteness,along with the river liffey and the sound of birds could make up for that but seriously they could have done a better job at the aesthetic of the houses. great place for fun time in families and friends.

First impressions are the properties are in a remote location well suited to people who want to get away from it. However, the Estate also doubles up as a team building/corporate centre so it can be far from quiet. We booked a week out of season (May 2008) for 5 adults and two infants in one of the 4 bedroom self-catering apartments. The booking was directly through the compehensive website. The standard of the property we stayed in was average - nothing special. It consisted of 3 bedrooms (one with ensuite) and bathroom on the ground floor and one bedroom on the first floor where the main lounge, dining and kitchen area was located in open plan format. The kitchen is not particularly well stocked with utensils, especially for a large family group, and it was difficult to obtain missing items from reception. Overall I would say the property was OK. For families with small children you should be aware that most days needed an hour in the car to get to the major attractions nearby e.g. the beach south of Wicklow, Glendalough, Powerscourt, etc. This also applies to provisions as there are no shops around the corner - a good 30 minute drive the nearest grocers so stock up or be prepared for a drive. However, it is a good base for day trips to Dublin. Drive to Dublin Zoo and jump on the City sightseeing bus - a good cheap option to get into Dublin avoiding the traffic. Overall, if you really want to get away from it all I would suggest looking for a cosier property that would feel comfortable in bad weather (which can be common in these parts). Unfortunately, this place did not do it for us but this is my opinion so others may love it.

Each apartment is very nicely appointed with full kitchens including pots, pans, utensils, dishes and wine glasses. The beds and coaches are super comfy. I'm in the area often and am really looking forward to staying here each time. On this particular visit, I was in a one bedroom apartment #11.
