Diane Reade at this location is convenient when I'm in this neighborhood. I have reviewed this location and I don't know what happened to my review and photos. I prefer to use my CVS rewards and coupons. I just never got into D R methods for saving. I think it's overpriced and that's why the one near my apartment closed years ago! Today I took care of my pain with a Salonpas. Yup I got it for nothing using CVS rewards. My recommendation is go to CVS sign up for rewards and watch your back. Haha read more

Duane Reade - On my shoulder I can reach. My back I can't. This brand smells good! 09/02/26 - Drugstores Near Me - New York, New York

See all

The service here is horrible. The cashier was not friendly, and did not offer me a chance to use my Walgreens/Duane Reade account savings. I was the only one in line, and they were so unfriendly. I was cordial and thanked them for their service. The same thing happened to the previous person in line. The selection of items is decent. The store was clean. The value of the items is more expensive than other competitors. Last, one of the entrances to the store was locked during business hours. This may be a policy at their location, but I have never seen it before. Is that a saftey hazard to lock an exit during open business hours in case of a fire? read more

Duane Reade - Candy on sale - Drugstores Near Me - New York, New York

Still awful. Tried calling and only had to wait 20 minutes. When I go there I have to wait on long lines. Avoid this place if you can. Trust all the other reviewers who rate it with one star. Almost all the people mentioned in other reviews as being good have left the store. Incredible amount of turnover among the staff. read more

Awful and unreliable. Pharmacy is never on time. They are late to their job and they close earlier. Very bad management. I hope Walgreens pays attention to reviews. read more

Your employees at the pharmacy a girl named Isis she gave me attitude for 2 days in a row because I am not a new Yorker (I am from Phoenix, AZ) I was picking up medication for my sister who is (new Yorker), so pay attention costumers read more

Everything in the entire store is locked up (even candy). If you press the "assistance" button no one shows up to unlock the shelving. The pharmacy is a disaster. They email or text you saying there is an issue with your prescription and asking you to call and then do not answer the phone. You just get circulated into voicemail menu over and over. Even if you go in person and wait in line 30 minutes to try to address whatever issue they have with your prescription, they mess it up and don't notify you that there is a continuing problem. read more

THAT PHARMACY WOW.......I do feel it is not the workers in the store, however mismanagement and understaffing. How dare a pharmacy during a time like this. Meds are NEVER ready even when you receive a text. This has happened countless times and I've seen others with heart conditions and diabetes have the same issues at this location. Then I get there and they can't even find the meds that were "ready" per their text. What is wrong with management? read more

The worst customer service. Waited for pharmacist for over 40 minutes to ask her a simple question. Go to CVS around the corner over this place read more

Horrible service. Long waits and rude staff. Unable to pick up my prescription because waited a long time and didnt move at all. So I arranged for delivery, it was confirmed but was never delivered. SO i tried to call, I have been on hold for 52 mins and counting. I will be switching pharmacies read more

This store sucks. Terrible. Waiting in line forever to pick a prescription.... Not coming back.

About 10 blocks north of another Duane Reade, I popped in here to check out the selection of allergy medication. Located on a slightly elevated portion of the store with the pharmacy is the main area, the checkout section is below along with the vaults of candy and more. Normal pricing (that is to say higher than what I would get at Target or a Wal-Mart), but it is convenient, the store is clean, and the staff was very friendly (the last point making it the three stars). Not sure why, but the cashier that checked me out was just in a very good mood, joking with my daughter. One random suggestion for the store owner - check the signs you print for accuracy in spelling. Flu shots is two words and appointment... well, you get the point. read more

This is a pretty decently sized Duane Reade. They have a home-goods section, grocery, refridgerated-grocery, beer, cosmetics, pharmacy, daily use (cards, pens, paper, envelopes, etc) and holiday section. I come here when my local Duane Reade is lacking. The only thing missing from this place is my cat's kitty litter and cat food brands... read more

Terrible pharmacy experience. Prescriptions aren't ready when you get there, even though you get text alerts they say they see no record of your prescription. Even when you're nice and ask them how they're doing they just glare at you. Bottom line, the workers seem like they're being held there by force. They aren't nice and it is the most inefficient service model you've ever seen (THIS is why we are being replaced by machines, people). The kicker is if they at least brought the "nice" into the equation you can forgive whatever corporate administrivia is holding them back and kind of shrug your shoulders and roll with it. The misery and complacency need help. Few jobs any of us have are pure joy. But if you really hate the public, dude, don't take that job! Go do something behind the scenes. You can definitely make a bad job feel worse by...you guessed it! Making other people feel worse than they did when they walked in. Get a clue. In all cases the people ARE the business. If you hire miserable people who report into miserable people treating people miserably, your business will eventually follow suit. Exra Credit: The machines haven't learned how to replace human kindness yet. Get on that before they do. read more

For 3 years they have kept some of the worst and most unfriendly employees. Manager is always slacking off and not backing up employees when the line has 10 people and one slow cashier. It's a Duane Reade so think about how it's possible to even be bad at the job. read more

Literally the most inefficient place ever. Always a huge line with one or two incredibly slow moving people working the register meanwhile other employees are standing around everywhere talking. It's crazy. I live right next to it and even if there are three people in line it takes 10-15 minutes somehow. Need more employees working the register. Unbelievably frustrating. The milk is normally not there or it's close to expired. I got an 18 pack of beer once and got it home to realize someone had taken two beers out of it prior to my buying it. The people are friendly but the place could use some work. read more

I just stopped by on the way to dinner, and found this one to be slightly less updated than some of the other area ones. In addition, they didn't really have many options for facial moisturizers, which was surprising to me. The skincare section was placed in the back and organized by brands not items. Not a huge deal, but I ended up not finding what I was looking for, which was a bummer. They do have a well-stocked travel-sized items section, which is always appreciated. read more

This was my first experience visiting this store and it will be my last. I was running late to an all-day portfolio review because of an incident earlier that morning (another story in itself) and I needed change to tip a locksmith and a valet parking agent. It was the closest establishment with an ATM. I got some money out and wanted to get smaller bills with one of my $20s. To cut a very long story short, the clerk I was dealing with was EXTREMELY and BLATANTLY rude to me. I asked for change for my $20, and this was apparently the most offensive thing this woman ever heard. She bluntly refused to serve me and immediately called for the next customer (there was none). I was taken aback and came up with the next best option, which was to buy something cheap so I could get cash change for it. She refused to take my $20 for the merchandise. Like, it was on the counter and she stared at me. She finally took the money after I raised my voice. And then she asked me if I wanted a bag for my pack of gum. Seriously? What kind of crap is that? Do not shop here. Go to a different location. I am sure there are other clerks who are nice and helpful, but this was the worst customer experience I have ever had. I felt unwelcome and the woman was extremely rude. Based on this experience alone I would never shop at a Duane Reade again. read more

This is the Duane Reade I go to because of it's proximity to my apartment. Shelves are always stocked and the staff is friendly. What you would expect from any of the thousands of other Duane Reade locations in the city. Rating this location at 3 stars simply because of the store's pharmacy. It is very slow and there always seems to be an issue getting my prescription by the time promised. In the future, I will be transferring my prescriptions to CVS, but will continue to come to Duane Reade for anything else I would need from the pharmacy. read more

I probably shopped here more than any other store in the area. Their selection is pretty good, but they have some really expired products also sitting on the shelves so be warned, LOOK AT EXPIRATION DATES. They also have a Chase ATM and a pharmacy so it's pretty convenient to not have to cross the street to go to the real Chase bank. Prices are pretty high so I usually don't buy stuff that's not on sale here. I seriously considered going to the ER at NY Presbyterian a block away instead of buying a package of band-aids here. Seriously, $5 for 20 band-aids?? Come on, who can afford to bleed at those prices? That's now a luxury of the past. read more

Pharmacy is a joke. They are rude and LAZY. The way they talk to some of the customers is completely unacceptable. There's one lady who has such a nasty attitude just by the look of her eyes and body language. read more

DO NOT USE THEIR PHARMACY!!!! I usually use express scripts. The people behind the counter are so useless. I needed 2 prescription refills, one needed to be called in by my gyno and I was told the other had 1 refill. I go in today and they only had the birth control which was the wrong one. I called my gyno to see why.... She told me they hung up on her and told her the birth control I was on doesn't get made (I've been on it for 3 years...). As for the other prescription it wasn't in because apparently I had no refills, the woman helping me saw this and immediately faxed over a request for the other medication. Honestly, 2 of the women are helpful, the rest are useless and look like they were dragged out of a gutter. THE ONE ACTUALLY DOES NOT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 1 and 0. read more

I stopped by this store to buy some goods. I bought a package of socks. I liked them . They are made of linen which has a good natural texture. I also bought some stationary items and simple hardware items like screw driver which has multiple sizes and types in adjustable top. That is useful and convenient. I asked a staff about them . He was really kind and spent time finding and explaining. I wish they carry more various items. read more

Not the largest selection (no fresh food), but other than that it's very clean and bright. The clerks are friendlier than most, and very willing to help if you just ask. read more

I don't think it's ok for customers to come in here with their dogs (non-service animals) and let their kids loiter by the exit. While I understand the staff cannot control the behavior of customers, they could say something or say that non-service animals are not allowed in the store. But no. They don't care. There is also repeatedly no one at the register in the morning, or the employee hides behind the counter. read more

Standard Duane experience. Doesn't have fresh food. Decent selection of other items. Staff pretty helpful too. If you're looking for food items then food emporium is close and much cheaper. read more

Very cool looking and modern looking, but no signs so good luck finding what you need. Also good luck in finding someone to help you. My last visit will be my final visit because of how they treated my family. My 6 year old child had to use the bathroom. When we ask where the bathroom is the cashier tells us bathroom is only for customers. OK. I am a frequent customer and tell her I will buy something after my daughter goes to the bathroom. She refused to tell us where the bathroom is until we buy something. No compassion for a 6 year old child that has to use the bathroom. We went across the street to A Matter of Health where they are happy to let a 6 year old use their bathroom without requiring them to purchase something first. Plus A Matter of Health has much healthier options at much better pricing. read more
