I had two pieces of art accepted for the NCHM Hope for Spring Exhibition and only had one week to get these framed and dropped off at the museum. I was originally referred to Contessa, but they were booked up and could not turn this in time. Contessa recommended DTW so I took me two drawings in and met the owner. The framing was actually done before the promised date and looked exquisite! One of my pieces sold at the opening reception and the other sold a few weeks later! The show closed on April 19th and I received an email from the Neill-Cochran House Museum that one of the 2 pieces was voted "Fan Favorite" by those who visited the exhibition! COVID protocols followed perfectly, service was fantastic, and the final product was better than I could have hoped. Steve is simply the best. He has done multiple projects for my bar and I'm always blown away by the work. He really showed me that displaying artwork in a frame is an art in and of itself. My favorite part of starting a project with Steve is going into his shop. It's gorgeous, relaxing and so much fun. I love pulling all of the frame and matting samples down to play with styles and color. You can go as minimalistic or extravagant as you'd like. At one point, I needed plexiglass over a painting that is enormous- he picked up and delivered the piece himself with no extra charge to us (I'm not sure if this is standard practice, we have definitely developed a solid relationship with him, but it's so appreciated). All of his work is immaculate and even better than I imagine it to be every time. Not only is he a brilliant framing artist, but he's basically the nicest guy on the planet. I've had several items framed here (art, posters, diplomas) and I've always been pleased. The price is on par with any of the big box places, but the service is far superior. They have a very friendly staff who are willing to help with any questions and provide recommendations on what will look best. For instance, once I came in and spent nearly an hour going back and forth on different shades of red matte and not once did they try and pressure me into making a choice quickly. I brought a watercolor painting into DTW to be reframed (it was a gift from my parents and was originally in a bulky, dark brown legal-style frame that doesn't coordinate with my home decor). I wanted a frame that would be stylish but still classic, and most importantly, I wanted to ensure that the watercolor would not be damaged by the reframing process. The staff members at DTW were so nice and friendly, showing me several different frame options and also advising on how we could use the glass from the original frame so I could save some money in the process. Due to the holidays and COVID, DTW had let me know that they were operating on a two week lead time. Once the job was completed, DTW texted me to let me know the frame was ready, even including a photo of the watercolor so I could see it right away. I appreciated the friendly and attentive customer service. After picking up the new frame, I can say that their work is impeccable at a reasonable price. Over the years I've used Jerry's for dozens of frame jobs and I have nothing bad to say about them. They do fine work at fair prices, but as someone who lives near downtown Austin, that location is a major pain to get to. I feel like I've unearthed a hidden gem with DTW. Both the quality of work and the customer service here are outstanding! I had a rushed deadline and needed a simple yet professional frame in a matter of days. I talked on the phone with Vanessa to make sure I would meet the deadline, which she said was manageable. I brought my photograph in on Friday morning and got a call around 4pm the SAME DAY that the photo was ready for pick up!! Talk about a turn around!
