I bought a pair of pumps at the DSW in the Shops at Valley Square for $49.99. A week later (after i wore the shoes for an evening out) I saw the same brand and style being sold at Marshall's for $29.99. I asked a DSW employee to do a competitors price match and was told they do not honor competitors prices. So I figured I'd exchange for a pair of $69.99 clearance designer pumps. My size was not available, I asked an associate to locate another DSW that has them and was told "I can call the store in Willow Grove but they may be busy and not have time.". The store was busy and that was that. No "let us find them and call you back after we have located the store." Nothing! I asked for customer service and wrote down everything I thought I would need to do a search myself at my house. I called customer service and they could not do a search of store inventory, I was irritated at this point because not only could I have bought the shoes at Marshall's for $20 less, but if it is difficult for the employees of DSW to locate shoes, it's very difficult for a customer who does not know how the company operates! I then did complain to customer service about competitors pricing of the shoes and how at the store I was not helped at all. I gave my name and number to have someone contact me and a week later the District Sales Manager contacted me. I explained the whole situation, she said the store in Franklin Mills had the size I was searching for. I told her I have never been to that location and asked if they could be sent to Warrington for an exchange. She informed me she would do it but that it was a huge inconvenience and usually is not something that would be done. I said thank you told her due to the holiday (4th July) I may be exchanging 1 day after the 30 days, she said that would not be possible I would need to return the item and come back when the other pumps arrive and purchase them separately. I told her I wanted to exchange because I did wear them for an evening out. The District sales manager said no merchandise will be returned/exchanged after 30 days, and certainly no worn merchandise will be returned/exchanged. "Her hands were tied" and if I would like to buy the pumps separately she would still send them. After all this I went home, looked at my receipt - no where on the receipt does it have anything about a 30 day policy nor is there anything about worn merchandise! This whole time I could have just handed the cashier the shoes with my receipt and received the full $49.99 back onto my card! But I wanted to keep my business with DSW and thought I wouldn't fuss and just exchange! Unfortunately I paid too much for the shoes, I never exchanged and DSW lost a customer. I have not shopped there since and will make sure I tell people about my bad experience at the DSW in Valley Square. read more
