Also, I only tried with one instructor, so there may be other instructors who are great. I want to share my experience here just to help you avoid the instructor I had or go to another place for a lesson during your stay in PR. Here is my experience this Tuesday 1. I was sent an email to meet up 10 mins before my 4 pm lesson at the intersection of Calle Nairn and Avenida Ashford. I arrived at 3:48 pm and waited till 4 pm and did not see any one and called the instructor twice without any one pick up the phone. I almost think it is a scam. So I don't want to give up and walked along Calle Nairn toward beach hope to see something and discovered a Van with 'La Punta' on it without any one on the driver seat. So I sat out side the van for another 8 mins (4:08 pm) and saw this guy who turns out to be my instructor called Hiram coming with a surf board from the beach apparently just enjoyed some surfing. Apparently he was busy surfing without realizing it was too late. Without apologizing, he told me to go to the beach to wait for him. After another couple of minutes, the lesson finally started. 2. With less than 5 mins of instructing how to stand on the board, we headed to the ocean. After a couple of failed tries in standing up on the board. He got very frustrated. The wave was so huge that I had a hard time to even climb onto the board. Without helping me, he yelled at me "Why it is so hard for your to get on the board?!". Later, when I got on the board but got toppled by another wave, he yelled at me again "Why you can't keep your body in the center of the board?! That is why you got flipped over!" Afterwards, I think he just totally gave up probably thinking I am a tourist anyway and will not come back again. 3. Just during my struggle to get the board back to the wave again, he would ask me to do a series of random things like swim on the board back to him without even teaching me how to position my body on the board or stoke or change directions. So as you can imagine, I just got smashed again and again by the wave back to the shore while he was just standing in the ocean relaxing. I finally gave up and just dragged my board to him. So what he did was just asking to get on the board and randomly push me away.... At that point, I think both of us just want this to be over... This is my second lesson and I knew surfing lesson should not be like this. My first lesson was useful and enjoyable. This one, well, is the worst so far lol. Anyway, hope y'all enjoy your stay at PR and avoid having a bad day because of one bad instructor! :)

But after hanging out closer to the airport side, we got spoiled with the smooth sand and no rocks. Condado Beach is full of rocks so running or working out is a challenge if you're into beach workouts. The beach is public however the resorts do a decent job of curtailing the public patrons. We stayed at Stellaris for the last leg of our trip and the resort gave out wrist bands to ensure employees knew were guest. It was easy to get lounge chairs as they would see us walking from the hotel and the wrist band was a quick give away. If you're a resort guest you'll get towels. Other people who were on lounge chairs with no towels had either paid for the chairs and/or were staying at the cheaper hotels behind the resort. In summation, although the location is live and busy, the beach is not the best on the island but it does the job. Would likely not stay in the area again as this beach wasn't the most beautiful on the trip. When you come to an island, the beach is the most important part and should be the most beautiful place you are.

It's peaceful but still lively enough to feel safe and welcoming. Whether you're walking along the shore, sitting in the sand, or just soaking in the view, it's the kind of place that makes you slow down and appreciate where you are. Easily one of the most beautiful nighttime beach experiences in San Juan.

COVID protocols are in place currently and we had to wait at the door for someone to let us in and check our temps. Once we had taken care of that, we were off to explore. My wife almost immediately found her new go to Reef sandals. They have a pretty good amount of stuff in the store. This is one of three locations, as it turns out we also went to another one, it was a little bigger, located at the mall. Tons of board shorts, t-shirts for both men and women (swimsuits for the women). A small selection of surf boards, that were pretty nice quality. As well as some skateboard stuff. If you're into surf shops, this should be a place you check out. They have a large selection of Playero branded apparel, which is really nice. One thing to keep in mind, prices are a little on the high side. But other than that we had a great experience. Staff was friendly and helped us out with different shoe sizes to try on, and took good care of us the whole time we were there. We'd recommend this location.

I think it is a great surf shop for sure. I give it 4 stars for the clothes which the only negative is that they are on the expense side. 2 stars are due to the lackluster service. My wife and I were greeted by the two young women at the front desk and promptly told they were closing (it was 5:30 closes at 6). The entire time during checkout was silent and I felt as if I was a nuisance. I hope this was just an isolated event because their products are top notch. I hope future interactions with patrons are more positive because I spent $100+ in that place. Patrons should be treated with respect if you want to charge premium prices.

I stopped by Skybanditz last week to check them out and signed up for the 3 hour introduction course...I started the same day. I just completed the second 3 hour course and I am already at the launching stage....I can almost do it. The instructors are very patient and professional. I think with a little more practice I will be able to ride for more than 5 seconds without crashing!

This was my…read morevery first time kite surfing and honestly I thought it was going to be very easy and it was not. It was definitely challenging but with the right guidance and proper training I was mastering kite surfing with ease. My trainer as I stated was the best... honestly. He was incredibly kind, patient, and motivating. He gave me a lot of pointers and encouraged me the whole time. This was my first introduction to kite surfing and I plan to continue learning along the way. Trying this in Puerto Rico was incredibly memorable, as this was my first time to the island as well. Surf with a pro provides all the gear necessary to become successful , a helmet, vest to attach the kite, and the kite itself. I learned the safety protocols, and what to do if the kite flips over in the water which is incredibly important as well. I really enjoyed my experience, and I hope if anyone is ever in Puerto Rico and you're Curious about kite surfing you give this a try as well.

Big double thumbs up for my windsurfing experience with Albir at Sotavento Water Sports out of the…read moreTres Palmas Inn in Puntas Las Marias, San Juan, PR. I showed up unannounced and was out on the water before I knew it. He has a nice selection of the latest model RRD boards and sails to help me get back into sailing after a long snow bound winter in Boston. The location is awesome and its obvious why it is a favorite spot of local sailors. I had great winds, 20+ knots every day I was there in early March. The equipment is stored a few steps from a nice grass rigging area right above the beach. It's a clean, sandy, sheltered beach with minimal shorebreak to deal with and the wind fills in beyond the swimming area. The conditions ranged from flatter closer to the point to bigger swells as you get toward the reefs where there were nice sets of breaking waves. I started out on wide 120l Fire move then moved down to the fast 112l Fire race. The 7.0 RAF sail I used had a lot of speed and power, good range and was easy to waterstart outside in the 5' to 10' swell. Albir was an awesome host - easy going, supportive. The rental rates were also a really great deal. Already looking forward to a return visit!

Visited Tres Palmas to buy a body board. They had many in stock of varying degrees of quality. I…read moreopted for a lower quality board due to the lower price coupled with the fact that we were only going to use it for a few days and then give it away. A worker helped me select a board that was reasonably priced, but of good quality. As he was ringing me up, he threw in a $10 jar of Sex Wax that really isn't needed for body boards. It might be useable on higher end boards, but not styrofoam boards such as the one I purchased. I should've handed the jar back to him, but I was intrigued by it. After I got back to my apartment, I watched a YouTube video on waxing a body board and it's super not necessary. They also have an excellent selection of new and retro skateboards. So cool! Anyway, the merchandise sold here is excellent and the staff is friendly.
